Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on April 12 that talks with the United States had reached an understanding on some issues but remained far apart on two or three key matters, concerning the high-stake marathon peace talks in Pakistan.

Both sides failed to reach a peace deal after 21 hours of talks but Baghaei said diplomacy would continue despite the setback.
