00:23He made the remarks during a working visit to Padang Besar Perlis on Saturday, accompanied
00:29by Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency Director-General, Commissioner Datuk Sri Mohamed
00:35Shuhaili Mohamed Zain, as well as the Perlis and Kirra police chiefs.
00:40Saifuddin assured that manpower shortages would not compromise other policing duties.
00:46He also said authorities foiled 735 smuggling cases worth 2.81 billion ringgit between January
00:541, 2025 and March this year.
00:57While fuel leakage at about 4,000 petrol stations nationwide was previously overseen by the
01:04Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, he said the Home Ministry's wider mandate would
01:09strengthen enforcement across land and maritime borders.
01:13Police will also be deployed more extensively to curb smuggling activities, particularly at
01:18border area petrol stations.
01:20Saifuddin said a whole-of-government approach is needed to address fuel subsidy leakages effectively.
