00:00Hi, everyone. I have something important to share with the community, so I'll get right to the point.
00:06Today, we were going to post a flyer to sign up families for another $50 Spay-Neuter Clinic Day for
00:11Dogs in Lincoln Heights.
00:13Our veterinary team is set for Sunday, April 19th. That date has been in the books for a few weeks
00:18now.
00:19And this past Monday, April 6th, we were notified by LA City Parks and Rec that due to budget constraints,
00:26we would now be required to pay $1,450 for the use of the location.
00:33Now, we understand that policies can change, but for a small volunteer-run non-profit, this type of last-minute
00:38fee is simply not possible.
00:40Every dollar we raise goes directly to helping dogs get fully vetted so they can stay in their homes and
00:46out of shelters, not to facility fees.
00:48And I will not ask donors to fund this fee.
00:53Upon hearing about this change, I did ask for a courtesy waiver.
00:56And we haven't heard back, but the clock is ticking.
00:59We have to start signing up families for our event day.
01:02So another city in LA County has stepped up and is welcoming us with open arms and no fees.
01:08For Los Angelenos and taxpaying citizens, we want you to know the kinds of opportunities you are missing out on
01:13when LA City Services puts so much red tape around programs like ours.
01:18I'm sorry, Lincoln Heights residents.
01:20I hope we can come back to your city sometime soon.
01:22Please attend your council meetings and have your voices heard.
01:26To our followers and supporters, stay tuned to our flyer this week for a new location and sign-ups.
01:31Stay neuter.
