00:00Prince Harry's former charity Centibale is reportedly suing the Duke of Sussex for libel
00:05one year after he resigned as its patron amid an ugly internal dispute with the charity's
00:10chairwoman. Page Six confirmed that the organization filed the defamation claim
00:14against Prince Harry at the High Court in London on March 24th. Centibale also reportedly sued one
00:20of the prince's close friends, Mark Dyer, who served as a trustee of the charity before Harry
00:26and chairwoman Dr. Sophie Shandauka's falling out. No further details about what the lawsuit
00:31entailed have been released per the outlet. Harry co-founded Centibale in Princess Diana's
00:36honor in 2006. It focuses on helping young HIV and AIDS victims in southern African countries
00:42of Lesotho and Botswana. However, the Duke resigned from his role in March 2025 after clashing with
00:48Shandauka, who still serves as chair of the charity's board. Prince Isu of Lesotho, who co-founded
00:54Centibale with Harry, and the board of trustees also left with the Duke when he resigned last year.
00:59With heavy hearts, we have resigned from our roles as patrons of the organization
01:02until further notice, in support of and solidarity with the board of trustees.
01:07Harry and Siusu said in a joint statement at the time,
01:11Shandauka then reported both Harry and the trustees to the Regulatory Charity Commission
01:15for England and Wales over shocking allegations of bullying and harassment.
01:20She also alleged that the pair's conflict began when Harry's team asked her to defend his wife,
01:25Meghan Markle, from negative media coverage, connected to an awkward photo op at a Centibale
01:30event in April 2024. Quote,
01:33I said no, we're not setting a precedent by which we become an extension of the Sussex PR machine,
01:39she told the Financial Times in a March 2025 interview. The commission said it discovered
01:43no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying, harassment, misogyny, or misogynoir at the
01:50Centibale charity in an August 2025 statement. Misogynoir is a term used to describe discrimination
01:56against black women. Still, the commission criticized both Harry and Shandauka for allowing
02:01their dispute to play out publicly, and noted that their failure to resolve disputes internally
02:06severely impacted the charity's reputation. An insider close to the Duke of Sussex, meanwhile,
02:11claimed that neither Harry nor Ciesu could envision returning to Centibale, as long as Chandauka
02:17remained the charity's chair.
