01:20got to
01:21be more maybe I'm just being my cheeky self I don't worried about it okay Nicola would you like to
01:25introduce us hello Nicola how are you I'm good thank you Nicola welcome to the assembly our collective
01:38of autistic here and learning disabled interviewers no subject is out of bounds no question is off the
01:51table and all might happen please tell us who you are my name is Nicola Sturgeon yeah I am a
02:00politician
02:00mm-hmm I used to be the first minister of Scotland and I'm I think really happy to be here
02:07okay
02:12lovely why are you by the way I'm going to start with a question from Mikey Mikey hi
02:19how does it feel being divorced
02:28so I'm not actually divorced yet but I'm separated from my husband and what happened
02:37uh we like shit happened what was the main reason why you chose to separate
02:52um I mean there's been a lot of public coverage of my husband's being accused of
02:56crime and stuff and yeah so that that is what everybody thinks it will be and and I'm not saying
03:02that's not a factor because that when you're faced with something like that it kind of completely blows
03:07your entire life your world but I think if I'm being honest I think it was probably more than that
03:16I've been this very career focused politician all my life and and now I'm I'm going into a phase of
03:23life
03:23where I want to find out a bit more about who I am as a person not just as a
03:27politician and so
03:28yeah it's you change and I think sometimes although the change is really hard you will be happier
03:37because you go through that change and you would be if you just stayed where you were
03:41have you had any secret rendezvous recently
03:50and just asking if I want to know
03:56this is the only time I hope in this whole recording that I'm going to do a politician
04:02answer which is maybe
04:07you can this is one of these moments where you're going to have to
04:10judge from my body language and read between the lines yeah great questions like a good question
04:22are you relaxed now I am relaxed until peers here gets going
04:29julis you're up lovely to meet you um what politician do you like the least
04:37oh right now that's quite a hard one to choose so I'm going to go for Nigel Farage he's not
04:46who he
04:47pretends to be I think he's got some really dodgy views I think he's only interested in himself and
04:54yeah I don't really like him sorry sorry Nigel
04:59but I mean you know I don't like him yeah I hate him yeah if I see him on the
05:05street now I don't know
05:05what I'm going to do to it to you yeah we're going to go on fine to Cara
05:10when I'm sad I drink wine what do you do I drink wine
05:19what kind of wine do you like I like red wine
05:24yeah I mean I wouldn't turn down a glass of prosecco but I prefer red wine or a cheeky
05:31wee gin and tonic I have a horrible feeling that this might just make the situation even more
05:36worse in my opinion you're a lot more sensible than me I think yeah now we're going to come to
05:43Joseph hello Nicola yeah nice to meet you you too when you were arrested did you have to do stuff
05:54like getting your fingerprint taken get put in a cell or did you get special treatment I so I didn't
06:07do
06:07any of that but I don't think that was special treatment because I wasn't charged with any
06:11offence it was in Scotland when you're interviewed under caution about something you're arrested
06:17as part of that but I don't think anybody would have had any of those things in my circumstances
06:21okay so wasn't that bad I know it was it was it was a horrible thing yeah okay just I
06:29mean no it
06:30wasn't good I would not recommend it no no of course yeah no one yeah I think I sort of
06:37put myself
06:38into some kind of you know shut down state and and since then I've just tried to sort of blank
06:43out my
06:43head I'm guessing that's to do with the trauma of it all yeah yeah probably yeah sorry you went through
06:48that that's all right yeah all right our next question it's from Karen I'm trying so hard not to do
06:59my
06:59Scottish accent do you drink buckfast you know I know Scotland that's a brilliant are you actually
07:08Scottish no I'm from Birmingham right there's all these kind of like myths about Scotland that we
07:16all drink buckfast we all eat deep fried Mars bars I have never had a deep fried Mars bar is
07:23it nice I've
07:24never had one that might be the most controversial thing I've ever said okay next we're gonna hear from
07:38Kate can you tell us why you've thought about fostering oh that's a good question so I don't have
07:49children of my own I I had a miscarriage when I was 40 and so that was yeah no thank
08:06you em anyway
08:07that's not why I thought about fostering when I was first minister I did and still do a lot of
08:15work
08:15with young people who've grown up in care because you know we don't look after young people in care
08:22as well as we should and I saw firsthand like how much a good foster carer can change somebody's life
08:31and so that made me think you know maybe one day when I'm not in politics anymore I would like
08:36to
08:37foster but maybe it wouldn't be fair because my life is still a bit too you know thank you very
08:44much
08:44thank you we're gonna come to Marcus next oh no
08:58so because you talked about foster care I paid a poem because I was in foster care myself
09:08um and stuff like that so I'm gonna tell you it
09:18it was a good family but times grew hard I had to move away to you could you net who
09:24was nice to me
09:25this song is from my family and my friends sorry I got stuck sorry yeah
09:40for my family and friends
09:50sorry I'm nervous listen you did great you did amazing
10:01okay okay let's do this
10:05it was a good family but times grew hard I had to move away to the lady called Jeanette
10:10who was nice to me this is for my family and friends who cared for me
10:16and I hope you will stay to support and care for my needs
10:20Anthony came on a bright sunny day tell me about opportunities I can give you life my way
10:26you tell me about this place called your lighthouse so I can beat my insecurities
10:30and be safe in this place called your lighthouse
10:52well done Marcus thank you very much
11:10I've never had Botox I mean I'm not ruling out getting it in the future
11:15right Jamal you're up hey you're right yeah when you were younger was there anybody that you met
11:23and you admired a certain aspect within their personality
11:26and thought to yourself oh I want to have a piece of that when I get older
11:32I mean the people in politics that I learned most from
11:38the guy who was first minister before me
11:40a guy called Alex Salmond who I later had a bit of a
11:44affair
11:45no I didn't know I was going to say
11:58Alex Salmond is no longer with us he died just over a year ago
12:01wasn't he your mentor he was my mentor yeah and then we we fell out over certain things
12:06how did you feel when you weren't invited to his funeral
12:12oh yeah um I mean things had gone horribly wrong between us and we weren't speaking anymore and
12:18even although we were on really bad terms because he'd been such an important person in my life I felt
12:25really really sad and I had this real sense of grief and and that was worse because I knew there
12:33was no way
12:33I could go to his funeral because his family wouldn't have wanted me to be there
12:37yeah and so it just complicates that feeling of grief
12:40do you feel like there was things left unsaid that you wish you could have said
12:46yeah the thing I wished which I
12:49I think I also knew would never ever happen
12:51is that he would say to me
12:54yeah it wasn't
12:56your fault what happened
12:57you know even if he wasn't going to admit that it was his fault
13:00that he would say look I know it wasn't you that did this to me
13:04um and I'm sorry for suggesting that it was
13:08and I think I would have loved at some point
13:10for him to say that but I knew he wasn't the type of person that would ever do that
13:16yeah I understand
13:19and now we're going to come to Adam
13:22okay hi Adam
13:24hi Nicola
13:25how are you
13:26I'm good
13:27Adam good Scottish name
13:28yep it is
13:29you're friends with Bond
13:31James Bond
13:33W7
13:34oh Sean Connery
13:36yeah Sean Connery
13:37he was cool to me
13:38yeah
13:38do you like him
13:40yeah I do
13:40he was the first
13:42and best I think
13:43yeah
13:44he was very cool
13:45he gave me a lesson
13:47in how to deepen my voice
13:50he made me put a little bit of paper between my teeth
13:53and then just walk around speaking
13:56and it deepened your voice
13:58I think that's a quite cool thing to say
14:00I had a voice coaching lesson from Sean Connery
14:03well it's good to have you
14:05your hands
14:09thank you
14:11Elijah
14:12hi
14:18you have had the same hairstyle
14:20for many years
14:21yeah
14:24have you ever considered getting another one
14:26yes I have
14:27look I've got
14:27sort of
14:28really really difficult hair
14:30it's really thick
14:31you can't do anything with it
14:33I hate my hair
14:34right
14:34but
14:35I am thinking of doing something quite radically different
14:39to Mark Levin politics
14:41I'm not quite sure what yet
14:43like bleaching it or something like that
14:46your face and your hair looks a bit like
14:48Mrs. Doubtfire
14:54do you like that movie?
14:56that will be hard
14:57do you know what
14:59until about 30 seconds ago
15:00I really liked you
15:03it's an okay movie
15:06yeah
15:08of course I'm not
15:09of course I'm not
15:10I'm only joking
15:11I'm only joking
15:12yeah
15:13I do like Mrs. Doubtfire
15:14it's a great film
15:15yeah
15:16it's a great film
15:17thank you
15:19and we're gonna come to Cameron next
15:24hi
15:25hiya
15:28when you miscarried with Isla Margaret
15:30what do you wish people said to you?
15:43I think
15:44sorry
15:45the mention of her name
15:46just got to me
15:49no
15:50I think at the time
15:52I didn't want people to say anything to me
15:56because
15:58I didn't really know
16:01how I
16:02sorry
16:02how I felt about it
16:06the thing I felt most was guilt
16:09because at first I hadn't been sure
16:12that I wanted
16:13to have the baby
16:15and I was really worried
16:17and I was really worried
16:17that it would
16:19you know
16:19get in the way of
16:20of my career and everything
16:21and
16:22and so then when
16:23when I lost her
16:24I don't know if she was a girl
16:26I always decided
16:26I always thought she was a girl
16:29and
16:30and
16:30so when I lost the baby
16:32I just had this
16:33overwhelming feeling of
16:34it was my fault
16:35because I hadn't wanted it enough
16:37and so I
16:38I think I didn't want people to say
16:40anything to me
16:41I just needed to
16:41sort of
16:44do what I
16:45have usually done
16:46when I've gone through difficult things
16:47I just throw myself into work and stuff
16:51yeah
16:53and
16:53it's the kind of thing you think you've got over
16:56and then suddenly
16:58sitting on television
16:59somebody mentions her name
17:00and you realise
17:01deep down inside
17:02you kind of haven't
17:03so
17:04Would you like a hug?
17:05I would love a hug
17:07thank you
17:10thank you
17:11I probably also need a tissue
17:16thank you
17:19now we're going to hear from Sean
17:21is my muscada running?
17:23no it's fine
17:25hello Nicola
17:26hi
17:27how are you?
17:29I am okay
17:30all right
17:31what would
17:32you tell
17:33your
17:34younger
17:34self?
17:37erm
17:39that's a great question
17:41and I've thought a lot about this
17:42over the years
17:45what would I tell my younger self?
17:48lighten up a bit
17:49and yet while you're trying so hard
17:52to be this top politician
17:54don't forget to have a little bit of fun
17:56along the way
17:57my younger self though
17:59was quite stroppy
17:59so she would probably say to me
18:00fuck off
18:01I don't want your advice
18:06we're going to move on
18:07to setting up for something for you
18:13I've heard a bit in her foot before
18:14no but you know what
18:15it's so emotional
18:16and it comes from the heart
18:17so you're always going to be a bit nervous
18:18but you absolutely smashed it
18:21it was about a year
18:22really about a year
18:24thank you
18:25I'll try
18:26it's just yet
18:32there's a man I meet

18:37can we hit that one more time
18:39one more time
18:41this is one of my favourite songs

18:54he's a worker for the council
18:58has been for 20 years
19:01and he takes no lip off nobody
19:04and litter off the gutter
19:07puts it in a bag
19:09and never thinks to murder
19:13and he packs his lunch
19:15in a somber spare
19:16goes to children
19:18coating milky
19:19he never lets on
19:21but I know
19:23cause he once told me
19:25he let me know a secret
19:27about the money in his kitty
19:31he's gonna buy a thing
19:33he's gonna call
19:35a dignity
19:48and I'm telling this story
19:50and I'm telling this story
20:05in a faraway scene
20:16I'll send her off the west coast
20:18for the villages and towns
20:21I'll be a mall again
20:23they'll be living around
20:25they'll ask me where I got her
20:28I'll say
20:28I see my money
20:30they'll say
20:31isn't she pretty
20:32that she's
20:34caught
20:36in the
20:37teeth
20:46set it up
20:48set it up
20:48set it up
20:49set it up

21:15On a ship called Nakedi
21:18Nakedi
21:22Nakedi
21:23Nakedi
21:26CHEERING
21:33APPLAUSE
21:37It's one of my favourite songs.
21:42That was absolutely brilliant.
21:45Brilliant performance of it.
21:46You're amazing.
21:47You're amazing. Thank you.
21:50I think...
21:53This is going to be one of the most special experiences of my life,
21:57being there today.
22:06That was the assembly.
22:08Oh, wow, thank you.
