The "Stop Killing Games" petition has officially surpassed the 1 million verified signatures needed to be considered by the European Union. This movement aims to compel publishers to keep online games playable even after their servers are shut down.

00:08That much has been proven by the Stop Killing Games petition,
00:11which has officially verified 1.3 million of its 1.4 million signatures.
00:16If you forgot, Stop Killing Games aims to compel publishers to provide some way of keeping their games alive
00:21once they turn off the servers, like by handing the keys to the players.
00:25To be considered by the EU, it needed over 1 million verified signatures,
00:30that's to say, the signatures had to come from real people in Europe.
00:34Now the wait for a meeting with EU lawmakers begins,
00:37where the campaign's organisers will go before the suits and make their case in full.
00:41Not bad for a small continent, so far, anyway.
