00:00Developers at Naughty Dog have reportedly spent the last seven weeks shackled to mandatory
00:03overtime, in a pinch to finish an internal demo of Bounty Hunter game Intergalactic The
00:07Heretic Prophet by December.
00:09Bloomberg explains staff members at the last of a studio have been urged to put in at least
00:13eight additional hours of work per week, and this has been true since October.
00:16Staff is preparing for a demo review by parent company Sony, and the Intergalactic team has
00:21apparently already missed multiple deadlines.
00:23This sort of hardcore overtime, what's often referred to as bone-breaking crunch in the
00:26industry, has been increasingly unflattened for studios as more workers speak out against
00:31it, and Naughty Dog was once a notorious perpetrator.
00:33It acknowledged this in 2024, when Quality Assurance lead Patrick Goss said,
00:37When we onboard people, we tell them we have a reputation as a studio for crunching, and
00:41it's something that we don't want, and it's something we're not going to do anymore.
00:45Studio lead Neil Druckmann agreed, saying,
00:47We now have the goal for Naughty Dog to eliminate crunch.
00:50Bloomberg says this is the first mandatory overtime period Naughty Dog has had in years, and it
00:54was ominously preceded by a commemorative gift for members of the Intergalactic production
00:58team earlier this year.

01:05The end.
01:05The end.
01:05The end.
01:05The end.
