00:00This summer's travel season may finally be back to normal post-COVID, but according to the TSA,
00:05summer travel numbers are already exceeding those of 2019. So how can you make sure things go well
00:10for you as you head off to wherever? Well, experts say the first thing to do is book that flight
00:15and
00:16hotel now. Travel pro Melanie Fish at Expedia told ABC News, the airlines are prepped and ready for
00:22you, but booking early means not only getting the best price, but getting a seat, period. The FAA
00:27recently allowed airlines to reduce some of their flight schedules, meaning there are less seats to
00:32go around in the first place. But there is some good news. Staffing is up at most accommodations
00:36globally, even if it's not as good as it was before the pandemic. The Courier reports that an
00:41American Hotel and Lodging Association survey discovered some 87% of hotels were understaffed
00:47in 2022. That number is now down to 79%. Not great, but on the upswing. But at least there are
00:53vacation
00:53rentals available, those increasing by 25% in just one quarter last year. Experts say if you want the
00:59best deal, consider holding off on that summer holiday altogether and go in the crowds have
01:03subsided a bit. But if you're looking to save money, there's never been a better time to cash
01:08in those miles than right now.
