02:32Tatum has scored at least 20 points in six consecutive games.
02:37This is, of course, his first time at MSG since the ruptured Achilles on May the 12th in the Eastern
02:43Conference semifinals.
02:44A lot of emotions attached to that for him.
02:48Knicks are 28-9 at home.
02:51They had a tremendous win in Atlanta on Monday night.
02:54That was a fun game, 108-105.
02:58And that ended the Hawks' 13-game home winning streak.
03:01Mark Davis, Mark Lindsey, C.J. Washington, that's our officiating crew tonight.
03:07It is Towns and Kata.
03:09And it is a re-jump.
03:12Well, he definitely tossed it wrong.
03:14It was basically right to Namia's Kata.
03:19So, take two.
03:21And Kata controls it again.
03:23That didn't change anything.
03:25Tap ball, don't lie.
03:28Rasheed Wallace would like me to do that one.
03:31It's a new one.
03:34Tatum drives it.
03:35Kata tried to guide it.
03:36And it's Hart getting it ahead for Bridges.
03:39Bridges cuts to the rim and finishes in traffic.
03:42Well, that's a good way to get him started
03:44because he has really struggled over the last 16 games
03:48only averaging under 11 points a game.
03:52And his shooting numbers prior to the All-Star break
03:54were hype numbers.
03:56They've dropped off.
03:57Tatum bounces for Walsh.
03:59Hands it to Hauser.
04:01Shooting it at 39% from three-point territory.
04:05Head and shoulder fake.
04:06Tatum, swing, White.
04:08Can't hit the three.
04:10But a nice pass by Tatum.
04:11Tatum, since he's come back,
04:13has basically been the primary ball handler,
04:16the point guard, in this starting lineup.
04:19Hart, spin, kick, Bridges.
04:22Got him.
04:23Well, there you go.
04:25I think third in the league in corner three-pointers made.
04:29He gets that one to go down in those last 16 games.
04:32It was under 30% from three until out.
04:36And they are number one as a team in corner threes.
04:39Five-point-one per game for New York.
04:43Tatum, one-on-one with Brunson.
04:44Step-back three.
04:46Off.
04:48Towns, quick outlet.
04:49Lead feed for Bridges.
04:50It's been all Bridges so far for the Knicks.
04:53One-on-one on an island with White.
04:55Bridges backs him down.
04:56And Bridges creates off the twirl.
05:00Wow.
05:01But the way that started, and you said it in your call,
05:05quick outlet from Towns.
05:07It's one of the things I've really liked about him.
05:09He's passed the ball very well lately,
05:11and that quick outlet passing is a big part of it.
05:14Skip it to Houser.
05:16He misses on the baseline delivery.
05:17Boston is 0-4 from the field.
05:20Bridges is 3-3.
05:21And a takeaway by Tatum.
05:25Tatum will take it to the rim and lay it in.
05:27Boston on the board.
05:29Neither one of these teams turns the ball over much during the year,
05:33and neither one of them forces a lot of turnovers.
05:36In fact, Boston, next to last in the league in turnover storms.
05:40Is that something you see very often?
05:42Not a whole lot.
05:44I mean, you either, for most of the teams who prioritize turnover margin,
05:48want to do it at both ends.
05:50Brunson misses it on the mid-range shot.
05:54And a 7-2 advantage for New York.
05:56Tatum gets cut off there by Hart.
05:59High screen, Kata.
06:02Park sticks with him.
06:03Little bit of help.
06:04Spin move.
06:05Flip it in.
06:06And the foul.
06:07It's Tatum.
06:08Well, we see Tatum is the guy initiating all the offense out top.
06:14He's essentially their point guard.
06:16He's been shooting half his shots from three, but strong on the finish.
06:21And here, the steal and converting it into points
06:26has been a very, very good finisher for a long time.
06:30And a foul is called on Josh Hart.
06:33The numbers have been on the rise for Jason Tatum.
06:38As expected, just in the beginning, trying to get his legs under him.
06:43Rebounds his own miss.
06:45White steps into it.
06:46And it's off the mark.
06:47And Anobi couldn't grab it.
06:49Kata does.
06:49It's an offensive rebound.
06:50Another one for Boston.
06:52Relocate.
06:53Walsh.
06:53Got a three.
06:54Well, there you go.
06:55Boston, like New York, one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league.
07:00Fourth in second chance points at 17 a game.
07:04And Kata, a big part of it, averages three offensive rebounds a night.
07:08Celtics have answered with a 7-0 run.
07:10They come in number two in the league in offensive rating.
07:13Brunson goes down.
07:14Towns will fire it.
07:16Can't hit the three.
07:17Rebounded by Tatum.
07:19Well, you see Jordan Walsh getting the assignment on Brunson.
07:23Tatum.
07:24He got tripped.
07:25Trying to weave through traffic.
07:27And Tatum now will head to the free throw line.
07:32So, it's Towns picking it up.
07:37It's been an issue for the Knicks.
07:39The slow start.
07:40Something Mike Brown discussed with us prior to the game.
07:43Just wants the team to come out with a little more sense of urgency
07:46and for the opponent to field them early in games.
07:50Yeah, their offense has been fine in the first quarter.
07:53Their defense, well below average, 12 points a game.
07:59Worse in the first quarter defensively than in the fourth quarter
08:02where they're the best defensive team in the league.
08:06It's the same guy.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Boston has gone 13-2 with Tatum in the lineup.
08:12Obviously tonight playing without Jalen Brown who has been so outstanding.
08:18I'm talking about a guy averaging just under 29 points, but it doesn't stop there.
08:22It's career numbers across the board as a foul is called out front on Walsh.
08:27And Brown took on the responsibility and flourished.
08:33Well, look, he's been outstanding.
08:35I mean, career highs across the board in those things.
08:40I mean, the Celtics have like six guys.
08:43Career highs in points, rebounds, and assists per game.
08:47Absolutely phenomenal how everybody's gotten an opportunity and taken advantage of it.
08:53Towns pops and misses from the outside.
08:55Brunson took a poke to the face.
08:58Tatum, straightaway tray.
09:00Off the rim.
09:01Towns comes crashing in.
09:03And he got it to knock off a Celtic as Derek White was trying to rebound.
09:08That was a great screen by Kata to get Tatum a great look from three.
09:15And the Knicks wins this season over Boston.
09:18Brunson has gone off 31 points in those two victories.
09:23Ananobi, he's fouled.
09:26So free throws here for O.G.
09:29Ananobi, who comes in averaging 17 points per game in his ninth year in the league.
09:34Tatum picks up the personal foul.
09:36And Ananobi will shoot two.
09:38He's really been a bellwether for them offensively.
09:43It's 23-4 when he scores 20 a night or more.
09:47In the last three games, he's been 22-plus and shooting a ridiculous 54% from three.
09:55They need his offense.
09:57And the 8.7 rebounds in the last three games as well.
10:02Rotation-wise, we've seen some adjustments for the Knicks with Deuce McBride back in the lineup.
10:07But he and Shannon have split the ball-handling duties when Brunson goes to the bench.
10:13Alvarado has not been in the rotation of late.
10:16Jordan Clarkson has re-emerged for New York.
10:20Yeah, Jordan Clarkson has played very well.
10:23And then, of course, their best player off the bench all year, Mitchell Robinson.
10:27A difference maker defensively and on the glass.
10:30Shot clock is winding down.
10:31Hauser has to hoist.
10:33It grazes the rim.
10:35And it's saved by Towns.
10:37Get it ahead for Bridges.
10:399-9.
10:41Celtics and Knicks.
10:42Ananobi one-on-one with Hauser.
10:45Ananobi hits from the outside.
10:47Way too much space there.
10:49Hauser just backed off.
10:52Gave him too much room.
10:54Ananobi too good a shooter to get him back.
10:56Tatum makes his move.
10:57Flips it up.
10:58Thrown down by Keita.
11:00Special delivery from Jason Tatum.
11:02Well, we've talked about it.
11:03He's been their point guard.
11:05He's one of four guys on this team averaging over five assists a game.
11:09But he's been the primary ball handler with the starting lineup.
11:14Yeah, Derek White, not a natural point guard, but can do so many different things.
11:19And as Tatum has gotten back in the lineup, he's assumed a lot of those responsibilities.
11:23Brunson, short.
11:24Tatum knocks it out of there.
11:26And White pushes it ahead.
11:30Handed off for Walsh.
11:32Kick out.
11:33White thought about it.
11:34Walsh give it up.
11:35Hauser.
11:36Air ball.
11:37Caught by Keita.
11:38Bridges got his hands on it.
11:39And Keita muscles it through.
11:41You're a little stingy.
11:42You're not going to give Sam Hauser an assist on that?
11:44I am not.
11:45I am not.
11:45I'm a tough official scorer, Stan.
11:49Tatum's got five rebounds.
11:52The move made by Towns.
11:53He can't believe there was no call.
11:55Right now, it's five on four.
11:56Towns late to get back.
11:58White feed it.
11:58Ball movement.
11:59It's popping.
12:00Tatum.
12:00Open lock.
12:01Walsh will take it.
12:03And miss it from three-point territory.
12:06And this time, a foul was called.
12:09As Towns grabbed it, Keita was there.
12:12Boston is one of eight from three.
12:14But Tatum has got his fingerprints all over it.
12:16He does.
12:17Doing it all.
12:18Passing the ball.
12:20Defensively getting steals.
12:22Taking it to the rim.
12:23Just creating shots for his team all over the place.
12:30Time to check out our live update presented by FanDuel.
12:34Current point spread.
12:36Knicks minus three and a half.
12:37The over-under at 2-0-9 and a half.
12:41Celtics are 4-4 in the paint.
12:43But just one of eight from three-point territory.
12:45Tatum continues to crash the glass.
12:49And he has been outstanding in the rebounding department in his return.
12:53And Anobi, out of the timeout.
12:55They ran a good set, but he couldn't make the three.
12:57I like it.
12:58Got some movement and got a guy they need to score a wide-open three.
13:02Burchard is in.
13:04So is Shireman for Boston.
13:06And Shammett in the game for New York.
13:10Walsh will take it and kick it for White.
13:14Shot clock is winding down.
13:15Off-balance delivery.
13:16It goes for Derek White.
13:19Tough pull-off right there.
13:22And the Celtics take a 15-11 lead.
13:25Cut to the rim.
13:26And Anobi extra pass.
13:28Hart lines it up.
13:30Around and out.
13:31That's great ball movement by the Knicks.
13:34So our guys in the studio talked about it.
13:36Wanting to see more of that ball and player movement.
13:40You saw it right there.
13:41Instant offense.
13:42It is Peyton Pritchard with the high-arcing delivery.
13:46Hey, look.
13:47He'd be the sixth man of the year again at this point.
13:50But he started 50 games earlier in the year.
13:53So he's not eligible.
13:54Now playing as a six-man, scoring just as much as he did as a starter.
13:59And actually shooting the ball even better off the bench.
14:0317-11.
14:04Celtics in front.
14:05Four and a half to go in the first.
14:07Brunton trying to get it going.
14:08Brunton turns the corner and lays it in.
14:11Put a copyright on that move.
14:13Absolutely.
14:14There's no small guard better in the paint than Jalen Brunton.
14:21Boston enters action number one in points allowed at 106.9 per game.
14:26Keita and Towns both going for the ball.
14:29Towns felt he was held.
14:32Pritchard gets around Towns and the layup goes.
14:37Pritchard just so good, creating his own shots.
14:42Challenges pace there.
14:43Comes up short on the top of the key.
14:47It's already his third three-point attempt.
14:51Another all-star season for Carl Anthony Towns.
14:54Pritchard turns it over.
14:56Hart running.
14:57Pritchard gets back to it.
14:59Keita was disruptive.
15:03So the Celtics get it back with three and a half to go here in the first.
15:07Knicks will look to make some changes next that ball, as will Boston.
15:11White.
15:11Pull a puck.
15:13Short.
15:14Uncontested rebound for Towns.
15:18Hart already with four rebounds.
15:20There's an opening there.
15:21And he is fouled.
15:22And he goes down hard on the play.
15:26So they're going to help Hart to his feet.
15:28And here's Jalen Brunson on the drive over a very good shot blocker.
15:33But his timing, he'll go off one foot.
15:35He'll go off two.
15:36And then Pritchard just getting around Towns on the pick and roll all the way to the rim.
15:43Foul is called on Derek White.
15:46Hart just catching his breath here.
15:48Shoots it at 72% on the season.
15:54They're going to make wholesale changes here.
15:56They need to get Hart going again for whatever reason.
16:00The last three games, he's averaging under five points a game.
16:04He's only taking 12 shots in three games.
16:08Check out the upcoming national TV schedule.
16:10We've got you covered tomorrow night.
16:12Another doubleheader.
16:13Cleveland at Atlanta here on Prime.
16:15Minnesota is in Houston.
16:17And then ESPN on Sunday.
16:19Orlando and Boston.
16:20Denver visit San Antonio.
16:22For more of these games, go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app.
16:27Hart missing on the first attempt.
16:32Robinson in.
16:33Bridges returns.
16:35McBride looking to check in to replace Hart.
16:37And now Vucevic in the game for the first time for Boston as Tatum checks back in.
16:45It's only Vucevic's third game back after missing 14 games.
16:51I think Joe Mazur trying to get a real read on Vucevic and how he fits in with this group.
16:58Do you play him or Luka Garza off the bench in the playoffs?
17:03Luka Garza's had an outstanding year.
17:05Tatum misses it from the outside.
17:07Tracked down by Shireman.
17:09So the Celtics get a reload here under three minutes to go in the first.
17:13Pritchard.
17:14The handles.
17:16The spin.
17:17The deuce.
17:21Timeout.
17:22Mike Brown.
17:24Four offensive rebounds for Boston.
17:27They've got a 21-14 lead at the Garden.
17:34Celtics in front of the Knicks 21-14 here in the first quarter.
17:37Time right now for Leading the Way presented by United Airlines.
17:41Well, so much for what many thought would be a down season for Boston after the Tatum injury.
17:46Projected win total 41 and a half.
17:48Current win total 54 for Joe Mazula's team.
17:52Points per game this season.
17:53All career highs.
17:54It's Jalen Brown.
17:55It's Peyton Pritchard.
17:56It's Derek White.
17:56It's others on this team that have hit certain numbers.
18:01And the top defense leading the NBA in opponents' points per game.
18:04Opponents' points in the paint.
18:05Second in the NBA in opponents' field goal percentage.
18:09This was thought of, Cassidy, as a gap year.
18:12It was not a gap year by any stretch.
18:15No.
18:16And Jason Tatum told me a big reason he's back this season is because of the way the team competed
18:20all year.
18:21Even with all the gap year noise, he said watching their joy, their edge, the way they kept winning made
18:27him want to be a part of it.
18:28In fact, before he returned, he held a team meeting just to thank them.
18:31Telling them they played a role in getting him back to this moment.
18:34Now he's stepping into a group that didn't wait for him.
18:37They built something.
18:38So this return is not just about him getting healthy.
18:40It's about joining a team that's proved it already, guys.
18:43And Tatum on cue.
18:45Tried to pop it in from the outside.
18:47Instead, it's knocked out of bounds.
18:48It's going to stay right here for Boston.
18:5114 to shoot.
18:52That was after the Shamit three ball to cut it to four.
18:56But right now, the story of the game is Boston has seven more shot attempts than the Knicks.
19:02They've outscored them seven to nothing in second chance points.
19:05And they're getting another opportunity here.
19:08Both these teams come in great on both boards.
19:12But Boston right now, dominating on the glass.
19:16Deuce McBride digging in defensively against Pritchard.
19:19Step back.
19:20No.
19:21Robinson the board.
19:27Robinson's hitting his screen for Brunson.
19:29Walsh trying to stick with him.
19:30Brunson forces his way into the paint.
19:33Couple of fakes.
19:34Gets to pick up his dribble because of the deflection.
19:38McBride.
19:38Tough attempt.
19:39He's fouled by Pritchard.
19:40And Pritchard is looking towards Missoula as if he may want him to challenge it.
19:49And it's McBride going to the free-throw line.
19:54Does not look like we're going to get a challenge.
19:57Yeah, no.
20:03The NBA on Prime is brought to you by State Farm.
20:06Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
20:11Watch out, man.
20:12They're trying to get McBride going.
20:14He's the scorer they need off the bench.
20:17Career-best three-point shooting.
20:19But in the four games he's been back, he has really struggled.
20:24Came in and shooting 23% from the floor and 29% from three.
20:31Tatum to the roller.
20:33Intercepted.
20:34McBride steps in front.
20:35They've got numbers.
20:36McBride lob it up.
20:38Adanobi couldn't slam it.
20:39Robinson couldn't follow.
20:41And the ball gets knocked around over to Walsh.
20:45Missed opportunity.
20:46Pritchard extra.
20:48Shireman.
20:48Bottom.
20:49A three.
20:51Well, when you miss layups, very often you give up points in transition.
20:57And Shireman's been another guy who's really stepped up big.
21:01Brunson with the answer.
21:04A straightaway trade.
21:07There, Shireman is shooting 38% from downtown.
21:13Stepped in, got a lot more minutes than expected because of injuries.
21:18Oh, Pritchard, wheeling to the rim for the scoop to the hoop.
21:24He's got eight points there.
21:25Yeah, he's the leading scorer in the game.
21:28And didn't start.
21:30Averaging just under 17 per game.
21:32He won sixth man of the year last season in the NBA.
21:36Brunson protects himself.
21:37And he's found very creative.
21:42And here's the thing.
21:44Pritchard, much more than just a three-point shooter, really able to create off the dribble.
21:49And what's very underrated with him is his strength.
21:52This is a strong guy, obviously low center of gravity, hard to knock off balance.
21:59And he's very, very good in the paint.
22:01That is the second foul on Jordan Walsh.
22:05And Brunson now at the free throw line.
22:09He has played every minute of this opening quarter.
22:14The only Knick that has done so.
22:20That Monday night game in the fourth quarter, Brunson went for 17 in the first three quarters.
22:26He had 12 assists in that fourth quarter.
22:28It was takeover mode.
22:29It sure was.
22:31But I think a smart thing.
22:33The defense is keying on you.
22:35You get off the ball.
22:36Give it to other people early.
22:38They make some shots.
22:40Keep the defense honest.
22:41And then he's taken over so many times this year.
22:44We're leading candidate for clutch player of the year.
22:48There is a seven and a half second difference.
22:50Shot clock, the game clock.
22:51We're winding down in this opening quarter at MSG.
22:55Celtics lead the Knicks by three.
22:57Bounce it.
22:58Shireman.
22:59Adonobi recovers defensively.
23:01Vucevic keeps the ball moving for Tatum.
23:04Shot clock is down to four.
23:06Tatum makes his move.
23:07Drive and kick.
23:08Push it open.
23:09Bucket.
23:10A three.
23:12I mean, the way Jason Tatum is playing is just phenomenal.
23:17I mean, he is operating as a high-level point player.
23:20Brunson bangs it in from long range.
23:26And that's how the first quarter will end with Boston in front.
23:30Brunson, 29-26 over the New York Knicks.
23:36Brunson goes for 10 points to lead New York.
23:40Pritchard, the high man, with 11.
23:42You're watching the NBA on Prime, presented by Wingstop.
23:49Back here at the Garden for Penn Plaza in New York City.
23:55The NBA on Prime, 29-26.
23:59The Celtics lead the New York Knicks.
24:01As we start the second, Boston is out-rebounded the Knicks, 13-9.
24:05They've outscored them in the paint, 14-6.
24:08And, and Jason Tatum's return to MSG.
24:14Six points, along with six rebounds.
24:18McBride missing on the jump shot.
24:20Will reset the lineups here for you?
24:21Tatum fires it inside.
24:23Pritchard backs it out.
24:25Vujovic finds Hauser.
24:27Corner pop.
24:28Doesn't go.
24:29The ball movement just outstanding.
24:32Clarkson in, along with Robinson, Ananobi, McBride, and Schammett.
24:37Up top!
24:38Big finish for Robinson on a beautiful setup by Clarkson.
24:43Clarkson known mainly as a scorer off the bench, but great pass there.
24:49Tatum, Pritchard, Shireman, Vujovic, and Hauser for the Celtics.
24:55Vujovic has not been involved yet offensively.
24:59Six to shoot.
25:01Tatum loses the ball.
25:03Out of bounds off of Shep at 3.3 on the 24.
25:07And it turns a corner.
25:09Vujovic trying to play both guys.
25:12Just throws it up.
25:15Robinson over the top.
25:16Great finish.
25:21Tatum to Vujovic.
25:23He has to put it up, and it's way off.
25:25So, shot clock violation was dancing on the top of the backboard.
25:32So, the Knicks have cut it to one.
25:38Boston shooting it at 44% from the field.
25:41The Knicks are at 45%.
25:47It's the 575th all-time meeting, including the playoffs, between these two historic franchises.
25:54And a hold there.
25:56Robinson was trying to break free to receive the alley-oop feed.
26:00Vujovic is looking for an explanation.
26:02It picks up the personal.
26:04Well, I mean, Celtics have won over 60% of the regular season matchups, but they've met in the playoffs
26:1215 times.
26:13New York's won eight of the 15 series, and we may get a 16th here in another month.
26:20Clarkson on the move.
26:23Outside, Ananobi.
26:25Got him.
26:25A three.
26:26Wow, Clarkson's like the playmaker tonight.
26:29He's the connector so far.
26:31And Ananobi, we know, leading the NBA in corner threes.
26:37Tatum draws the big Robinson.
26:40He fires over him short.
26:41And a rebound to McBride.
26:43So, the Knicks have gone in front.
26:45Trying to add to it.
26:47Ananobi.
26:47Hard drive.
26:49Threads the needle for Shammott.
26:52Relocates.
26:53Ananobi.
26:56Put it up for Robinson, and he scores on the interior.
27:00Wow.
27:06It's a 10-0 run, bridging the first and second quarters.
27:12Pritchard trying to put an end to it.
27:15Nine to shoot.
27:17Tatum, the back hit.
27:18Isolation.
27:19Tatum hangs.
27:20He's fouled by Ananobi.
27:26Now Clarkson again on the pass.
27:29Sort of got caught, but found O.G. in the corner.
27:33And then O.G. Ananobi.
27:35Nice dish to Mitchell Robinson, who finishes.
27:39Pritchard, which doesn't have to play many minutes.
27:41You can't give up a layup to Mitchell Robinson, who's a 40% three-point shooter.
27:46You just can't let him get that out.
27:48Got another one coming here for Tatum, who's at 83% of the free-throw line.
27:55Six-time All-Star.
27:59Two-time Olympic gold medalist.
28:03The fact that he is producing at this level is impressive.
28:08I'm a big Sour Patch guy as well, so I'm now very, very jealous.
28:12You've got to get your focus back.
28:13I'm sorry.
28:14I'm sorry.
28:14I lost my focus.
28:17Clarkson floats it up.
28:18No good.
28:20And retrieved by Shireman.
28:27Tatum trying to squeeze through with a tie-up jump ball with Robinson.
28:32That's great defense by Mitchell Robinson.
28:37Are you getting—I'm going to lose you again.
28:39Yeah, no, I'm going somewhere else.
28:41Look, it's sour.
28:42Did you see it?
28:42Did you see the facial reaction?
28:44It's sour.
28:45Yeah, it really is.
28:46Deuce is—
28:46Come on, Deuce.
28:48You've got to know the scouting report.
28:50He's got the green one.
28:53It matches the Celtics.
28:55Tatum and Robinson to jump it up, and Robinson trying to steal it.
29:00What's the impact that he has off the bench for this Knicks team?
29:03Well, it's been incredible.
29:04I mean, the guy is the best offensive rebounder in the league,
29:10creates a bunch of second-chance points, outstanding shot blocker,
29:14very good screener and roller.
29:16A block by Tatum on Ananobi, and then a foul called on Clarkson.
29:21Well, Tatum again, just he's doing so much.
29:26It's phenomenal.
29:28I've seen guys come back off of Achilles injuries.
29:32It usually takes longer to come back, number one.
29:36And then, if you go back to history of these guys that have come back,
29:39when they first start playing, I mean, really, the first half of the season,
29:44they're not themselves.
29:46They struggled.
29:47This guy just came back on March the 6th,
29:51and he looks like the all-star he's always been.
29:54Oh, what a play!
29:56Mick Bride to Clarkson off the hustle by Robinson.
30:01Team basketball at its finest.
30:06Well, Mitchell Robinson's been in the game seven minutes,
30:09and the Knicks are plus nine.
30:12The effort he brings every single night.
30:15It'll go down as a score for Clarkson,
30:18but that's Mitchell Robinson's bucket, Knicks by four.
30:29The Celtics are struggling in this second quarter.
30:32They're 0 of 4.
30:33The Knicks are 4 of 7,
30:34and New York has taken a 35-31 lead.
30:41Derek White back in,
30:43and so is Keita for the Celtics.
30:4810 to shoot.
30:50Hauser defended by Clarkson.
30:53Back into the hands of White with five.
30:56Hauser, oh, finds the cutter.
30:58Pritchard, well done.
31:00This great ball movement,
31:02getting the ball from one side of the floor to the other.
31:05Hauser's eyes on the rim allows him to find Pritchard,
31:08who's now got 13.
31:11Shammott gives it up.
31:13Clarkson floats it up.
31:14In and out.
31:16Back to the outside, and Shammott.
31:20So the Knicks get a reload here with McBride.
31:24Step back three.
31:25Bottom.
31:27At his best, he's a guy who can be instant offense for this team,
31:32and they want to use these last three games as much as anything to get that guy in rhythm.
31:38Pritchard takes it in on Shammott and scores with ease.
31:43What a difference maker Peyton Pritchard is.
31:45He's got 15 points off the bench.
31:48He is seven of nine from the field.
31:52They got bunched up in the area, and Shammott's going to pick up a foul.
31:56Well, you notice the one thing with Boston.
31:58They're not switching nearly as much as they did earlier in the year.
32:03They're trying to stay and fight through stuff.
32:07Peyton Pritchard there, they pick up the illegal screen call.
32:10And then this is Deuce McBride.
32:13When he gets it going,
32:15he can go on runs as much as anybody in the league,
32:18particularly bench players.
32:20Other than Pritchard, the rest of the Celtics are seven of 23.
32:23Three.
32:25Swing it.
32:26White.
32:27Jumper.
32:28Off.
32:29This guy's not shot the ball well this year.
32:32He's done everything else well.
32:33Has not shot it.
32:35Came in at 33% from three.
32:39Hart loads it up.
32:41Robinson is fouled after the offensive rebound.
32:46I like fouling Robinson in that situation because he is so good.
32:51He's not usually looking to score on his offensive rebounds.
32:55He kicks the ball out and they find open threes.
32:58You're fouling.
32:59If it's a shooting foul or you're in the penalty, fine.
33:02He goes to the line.
33:03He's a 40% free throw shooter.
33:06It's not.
33:07It's dead ball on the side.
33:08Don't let him create threes.
33:11Shannon got a good look at it.
33:12It's in and out.
33:13That foul was called on Keita.
33:16That's his second.
33:17Tatum gets through the first wave.
33:19And a foul on Robinson.
33:23Tatum going to the line now for his 67 free throw attempts.
33:28Came in averaging fewer than five free throw attempts a game.
33:31Plus, he's already got eight rebounds.
33:34So, not shooting it well, but finding other ways to impact the game.
33:38Stan, explain to me how Boston is last in the league in free throw attempts at 18.7 per game.
33:43Well, when they drive the ball to the basket, other than Tatum and Brown, they're looking to throw the ball
33:50out.
33:50They don't want to take tough shots in the paint that then create fast break opportunities for the opposition.
34:00Carl Anthony Towns back in.
34:02He replaces Mitchell Robinson, who did yeoman's work.
34:06Robinson off the bench in eight minutes.
34:09Grabbed three rebounds.
34:11Made two shots.
34:13And the steal that started the break.
34:17And led to a pretty bucket around the rim.
34:2038-37.
34:22New York.
34:23Tatum now in double figures.
34:25Ten points.
34:26Eight rebounds.
34:28Two assists.
34:29A steal and a block.
34:31That ball got tipped.
34:32Sham it.
34:33Swing it.
34:33Hart.
34:34Extra.
34:35McBride.
34:36Missed it.
34:38And a good box out there by Vucevic.
34:40Well, Vucevic is a great defensive rebounder.
34:43Has been, since he came in the league, one of the best rebounders of his generation.
34:50He's in his 15th year in the NBA.
34:52Pritchard put a little extra arc on it.
34:55Wasn't enough.
34:59With a pep and a step, Clarkson.
35:03Goes to the rim.
35:04Stops.
35:06Ball got knocked away by White.
35:08Still plenty of time on the shot clock.
35:09We hit the midway point of the second quarter.
35:12Hart lines it up.
35:14Off the mark.
35:16Hart's had a great year shooting a three.
35:18Over 40 percent, but 0 for 2 tonight.
35:22And he's had trouble scoring the ball from anywhere lately.
35:25Derrick White, too strong.
35:26Tatum couldn't grab it.
35:27Pritchard does for the Celtics.
35:30Another offensive rebound.
35:31Hauser.
35:32Full-time.
35:35Full-time.
35:36Timeout.
35:36New York.
35:37It's a 7-0 Boston run.
35:39And they lead the Knicks by two.
35:41Well, and again, another second chance bucket.
35:45There's a loose ball.
35:47Pritchard just out hustles people to it.
35:49Great ball movement off of it.
35:53And Hauser knocks down the three.
36:00The NBA on Prime is brought to you by Wingstop.
36:03Big plays with even bigger flavor.
36:05Wingstop is here.
36:07By CarMax.
36:08Want to drive?
36:10And by AWS.
36:12AWS AI is how the NBA brings fans inside the game.
36:18New York Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics
36:21at the Eastern Conference semifinals last season
36:24in six games.
36:28Will they meet again this postseason?
36:31Celtics currently the two-seed.
36:33The Knicks currently the three-seed.
36:34A Boston win.
36:35They would clinch the two-spot with Detroit,
36:38the number one seed in the East.
36:40Towns off one leg.
36:42Got them.
36:43But I will say, regardless of where you're seated,
36:46I don't think there's an easy first-round series
36:49out there for anyone.
36:51I think going all the way down to the Tennessee
36:54you've got teams capable of winning in the first round.
36:57So it's going to be very interesting.
37:00Vujovic sets the screen for Tatum.
37:02Tatum trying to put it up against the green.
37:05Walsh with the offensive rebound.
37:06And he's tied up by Towns.
37:12So the standings as of this moment, Boston 54-25.
37:20Cleveland is a half game behind the Knicks.
37:22You have Atlanta and Toronto tight with Orlando and Philadelphia
37:26and Charlotte all within striking distance.
37:28I believe since, like, the 22nd of January,
37:32I believe Charlotte has the best record in the East.
37:35Now, maybe after the last couple of games, that has slipped.
37:38But they're right there.
37:39That's not going to be an easy out for anybody.
37:42We know what Miami has done in play-ins.
37:46Orlando has gotten healthy.
37:47They finally got Franz Wagner back.
37:51Philly, if Embiid can come back off the surgery,
37:54I mean, there's nothing easy as Tatum makes another great pass.
37:59Nine rebounds, three assists to go with his ten points.
38:02And Vujovic with the baby hook.
38:06We're down to 4.22 to go.
38:09First half.
38:10Brunson is the push shot is pure.
38:15We are tied at 42.
38:17Brunson now with 12 points in 13 minutes.
38:20White leaves it for Vujovic.
38:22Can't hit the three.
38:23Yeah, no, he's been short on all of his long-range shots,
38:27really, since he has come back.
38:29But he's only back three games.
38:32McRide, swing.
38:34Hart is going to take it and make it from three-point territory.
38:38No, his foot was on the line.
38:40But it's interesting with Hart.
38:42People still play him as a non-shooter,
38:46even though he's in the top 25 in the league in three-point shooting,
38:50shooting 41%.
38:51Boston is not shooting it well from three-point territory.
38:55Four of 18.
38:56White looking for an opening.
38:58And he's fouled.
39:02And that's all right now for tonight's Fit Check,
39:04presented by Lexus.
39:06LeBron James going casual as the Lakers take on the Golden State Warriors tonight.
39:13That'll be the second half of our doubleheader here on Prime.
39:46Second foul called on talent.
39:47Heads to the bench.
39:48He just got dapped up by Missoula.
39:50And we asked him about what's the role looking like for Vucevic.
39:55He said, hey, right now we just need him to do what he does.
40:00We're not asking him to do any more than what we need him to do,
40:04which is set screens, rebound, finish around the rim, pick and roll game.
40:11And they don't need him to be a hero.
40:14No, they don't.
40:15But they need better than what happened there.
40:18I mean, ten minutes in the game, they're minus eight to the next.
40:22Brunson.
40:24Fendorf.
40:25Gets the bucket.
40:26Great job.
40:27He's just so strong.
40:29Gets that right shoulder into you.
40:31Creates the space.
40:33Knocks Cade off balance a little bit and finishes.
40:36Tatum to the corner.
40:38Hauser.
40:38He connects for three.
40:41I mean, Hauser, a great shooter, but Jason Tatum, only two for nine from the floor,
40:47but the plays he is making as the de facto point guard out here has been incredible.
40:55Brunson communicating with Towns.
40:57Sets that screen.
40:58They get a switch with the big kid.
41:01That means Walsh is dealing with Towns.
41:03And Towns takes him inside for the bucket and the foul.
41:08Well, that's Walsh's third foul.
41:16Walsh has pretty good size, but it's no match for the seven-foot Carl Anthony Towns.
41:21No, not at all.
41:23Not even close.
41:24And Boston doesn't like to come and double, particularly against a team like New York,
41:28who can shoot the three, but on that one, I think you're going to have to come.
41:3685% shooter on the season, Carl Anthony Towns.
41:41First free throw attempt of the night.
41:45Towns, number two in the NBA in double-doubles behind Nikola Jokic.
41:50He's got 54, Jokic has got 55.
41:54Also number two in rebounding.
41:57To Nikola Jokic.
41:58Indeed.
42:00Come up on two minutes to go in this first half.
42:02Highly competitive.
42:05Pritchard, one-on-one with Hart.
42:07Jab, spin.
42:08Pritchard just forces his way to the rim, but missed it.
42:11Tip ahead for Hart.
42:13Now in a race.
42:14Ananobi sets the feet.
42:16Fired.
42:17Got a three.
42:19The Knicks, not a fast-paced team, but when they get a chance and have numbers,
42:25they will get out and run.
42:27And Joe Mazur talking to us before the game.
42:29When you miss shots in the paint, that's when you get run on.
42:33Off the miss by Tatum.
42:35Brunson pulls up.
42:37Gets the heel.
42:39And the rebound, Hauser, with a minute 45 to go.
42:43First half.
42:45One.
42:47Gets to the paint, and he's fouled.
42:53Ain't no way.
42:54Here it is.
42:56Towns tips it to Hart.
42:58Hart, very good, leading the fast break.
43:02Gets it to a wide open Ananobi to knock it in.
43:06Now, you mentioned the season that Derek White is having 16.7 points per game.
43:13Hey, after the break, tune in for the half, presented by AT&T.
43:19Taylor Rooks, Blake Griffin, Udonis Haslam, Dirk Nowitzki getting some shots up, getting warm.
43:25Tatum's return to MSG.
43:26The Knicks bench making an impact.
43:28It's all coming up.
43:32The half, presented by AT&T.
43:35Cassidy, Derek White.
43:37Can we still call him underrated?
43:39Is that a fair way to describe him anymore?
43:43Well, the league sure does.
43:45I mean, he's one of those players, coaches around the league absolutely rave about,
43:49even if he doesn't always get the headlines.
43:51Joe Mazzula says White's impact often goes unnoticed, calling him the kind of player who has complete confidence
43:57while also making sure everyone around him is better.
44:00Don't you remember Eric Sposa once took it even further, calling him the most underrated player in the league?
44:06And then Kenny Atkinson made waves, recently saying that, analytically,
44:10White grades out like a top five player in the league because of everything he does beyond scoring.
44:15So, to answer your question, I guess not.
44:18Yeah, how long can you be underrated before you're not underrated anymore?
44:23I feel like he graduated.
44:25Tatum can't hit the three.
44:26Tatum, the offensive board.
44:28The putback doesn't go.
44:29Tips the ball to himself.
44:30And he's just tacking on numbers and his box score.
44:34He missed the first one on purpose.
44:35He did the Moses Malone.
44:37Indeed.
44:37Give myself another rebound and still get the points.
44:40It's 12-3.
44:42Second chance points, Boston.
44:44It's been a big part of the game for the Celtics.
44:47And Anobi in and out.
44:49Boston can regain the lead with under a minute to go in this first half.
44:57Tatum one-on-one with Ananobi.
44:59Switch.
44:59Tatum makes his move on Brunson.
45:01Put it up.
45:02K-2 the catch.
45:03K-2 the release.
45:05And a foul was called.
45:08So, Tatum continues to set things up for others.
45:16Just so impressive how he has gotten back to his all-star form.
45:26He's not shooting it well.
45:28He's 2 of 11 from the field, but he's got nine rebounds.
45:30He has four assists.
45:32Kata shoots it at 70%.
45:34That's another player that anybody in the league could have had.
45:38But Brad Stevens saw something in him.
45:40Kata coming over from Sacramento.
45:43Signing him to a three-year, $7.2 million deal.
45:46He has outperformed his contract.
45:48Oh, no question.
45:49Look, Brad Stevens would be my executive of the year.
45:53And there's some other great contenders.
45:55Obviously, Sam Presti has done an incredible job.
45:58Brian Wright in San Antonio.
46:01Denver, they've done a good job.
46:03Some people have done a great job with roster construction.
46:05Brunson converts from the outside.
46:09He's got 16 points to lead all scores.
46:12And there's a three-and-a-half-second difference shot clock to game clock.
46:18White watched by Brunson.
46:21Ten to shoot.
46:26White bounces.
46:28Kata, kick.
46:29Pritchard!
46:31Off the rim!
46:33And it's knocked out of bounds.
46:35The Knicks will have 3.9 to work with.
46:39Kata almost got his fifth offensive rebound of the night on that.
46:44The Knicks, as a team, only have two.
46:48Joe Mazzoula sends Walsh into the game, replacing Kata.
46:54They back off and will allow Hart to toss it in.
47:02Looked long instead.
47:04Goes to Brunson, gets around Tatum.
47:06Brunson's going to get a clean look.
47:08Off the rim, no good.
47:11But the Knicks hit the break with a one-point lead over the Boston Celtics,
47:17trying to win the season series against Boston.
47:20They've won two of the first three meetings.
47:2454-53 at halftime.
47:27Taylor in the game coming up.
47:29You're watching the NBA on Prime, presented by Wingstop.
47:32Show your purpose.
47:34Why you working?
47:35Why you working?
47:35AT&T.
47:40Halftime in New York.
47:41The Knicks lead the Celtics 54-53.
47:44Welcome on in.
47:45I'm Taylor Rooks with Dirk Nowitzki, Blake Griffin, and Udonis Haslam.
47:48Ten lead changes, seven ties.
47:49Neither team led by more than seven in the first half.
47:52And Dirk, you all said it earlier.
47:54These last three games are super important for the Knicks to get it right,
47:57play winning basketball.
47:58What did you see in the first half?
48:00Yeah, I like them stepping up defensively spare,
48:02especially when the bench came in.
48:03I felt like they put more pressure on.
48:05They contested.
48:06They pushed the Celtics offense out.
48:08They contested every catch.
48:09There was a couple times where Boston couldn't really run an offense,
48:12get in their offense, because their bench did a good job getting in there.
48:16Mitch Robertson, obviously, has been a beast on both ends,
48:19getting loose balls.
48:21Their shooters come in shooting.
48:23So they've been looking really good.
48:25Obviously, Brunson has it going.
48:27I don't know if he's shooting the ball well,
48:28but they're playing a good game.
48:30Yeah, I thought, you know, we talked about it at length pregame.
48:33These last three games for the Knicks is very important.
48:36Just the inconsistency has been a bit of concern.
48:38They have such great players.
48:40But the juxtaposition between the hustle from the starters to the bench,
48:45and sometimes you're going to need it.
48:47You hear Cat, you know, trying to get a foul call here,
48:51ISOed Peyton Pritchard downhill, immediately into a, you know,
48:55a standstill three.
48:57That's really not what the Knicks need,
48:59especially in a time like this where the Celtics ramped up the defensive
49:02pressure.
49:04And compare that to this.
49:05Mitchell Robinson getting on the floor.
49:06Deuce McBride, quick hit ahead.
49:08Like, those are the type of plays that get the garden going.
49:10These Knicks fans value hard work.
49:13They value hustle.
49:16So, it was great to see the Knicks bench come in and provide that.
49:19And sometimes you just need that.
49:21The starters sometimes just don't have it.
49:23So, I'd like to see that from the Knicks out of the gate.
49:28Finally saw Thundercat.
49:29There we go.
49:30It took us 22 minutes, but we finally saw it.
