00:00Please help me welcome Naomi's good friend and great actor, Edward Norton!
00:17I can tell you right now that Naomi thinks she's getting roasted
00:22because that has been our tradition for many years, but you're not.
00:28You're not. You're going to get loved up today.
00:33I can remember the exact theater I was in and who I was with
00:39when I saw David Lynch's Mulholland Drive.
00:43And like so many people in the audience, when a certain actress that we'd never seen before
00:50did a scene of an audition,
00:54I think I knew in my gut that this day, what we're doing here right now was an inevitability for that actress.
01:03And in the intervening 20-something years since then, I've gotten to do two films with Naomi.
01:14And we have tussled awkwardly under sheets, we have gotten married, we've gotten divorced,
01:21we've had affairs, we've fought, we've bloodied ourselves, slapped, we've lived lives together.
01:28And I want to say this, you have lots of experiences making films that are intense and fun and interesting and inspiring.
01:38You will never have more fun than making a film with Naomi.
01:43She is the highest talent to lowest pretension ratio of anybody.
01:48She's stilettos on the red carpet and sketchers in rehearsal on set.
01:53She has the best laugh.
01:55She is the most delightfully un-serious person within a serious craft and trade while taking it seriously.
02:04She is truly a testament to the best of our craft and our industry.
02:12And her love of it has never diminished.
02:16And it's infectious, it rubs off on you and leaves you where I am, which is you just want to do more.
02:23I need our third film and our fourth film and our fifth film at a much higher cadence than we've been doing to date.
02:31You are a marvel.
02:33I'm so grateful to have gotten to work with you.
02:36And you deserve this as much as anybody in our peer group.
02:41And congratulations to you. I love you.
