00:06it's meltdown here discussing microphones and microphone sizes with Gene Simmons and
00:10by the way he did this size doesn't count that's right welcome on welcome here to the
00:17latest rockin Bruce congratulations man I have little or nothing to do with it I just work here
00:23and and by the way I get a lot of attention and it's unfair Tony come here Danny Danny there
00:33you go
00:33why does Tony always say say my name first okay okay so this there we go so this is Danny
00:45not Tony
00:47and we could talk all we want to with blue in the face how we're committed to rock and
00:53brews and Royal Oaks and the folks are going to be getting their first jobs here and how craft beers
00:59or local breweries by local brewmasters and fresh vegetables and fresh meat coming location wise
01:07you're not talking about refrigerator trains where the food lasts for weeks and coming here no because
01:15your first experience comes with the people that go in now this is the best Danny and his brother are
01:22the best things that can happen to this community because they're building a park that's not
01:30necessarily a business area it's free to the local community right there they're doing it now because
01:35they care about the community they're hiring local folks it's the best thing and instead of yapping my
01:41weight you should talk I've talked about yeah no no I've already talked to Danny oh that's it yeah
01:47are you in a band for decades spitting blood sticking the tongue out that no that wasn't you
01:52okay all right were you there 30 years ago June 26 1996 when kiss put their makeup back on for
01:58the
01:58first time what were your thoughts about that going into it and since then what were your thoughts
02:02about that it was good 30 years ago that happened in June yeah don't look good where's Tony Tony I'm
02:12gonna go find him right away Jay you're a powerful and attractive man thank you sir so what did you
02:17think going in that 30 that that show 30 years ago putting the makeup back on for the first time
02:21original members and what do you think looking back on it some of it was initially like you're on your
02:30best behavior when you get back together with your ex and then familiarity breeds contempt I'd like to say
02:38that it was all wonderful and anything but history tends to repeat itself I couldn't wait to restart the
02:46relationship with the two guys that helped us make everything possible but you got to be on top of your
02:51game you can't go out there and be in the Olympics and do the bad stuff because the 50,000
02:58folks who came to
02:59see you at the concert had to work hard for their tickets so this idea that you can get up
03:04there and
03:06not do the best you can and I'm trying to use nice language is unacceptable although it's great that you
03:12guys are all honored at the Kennedy centers yes last year that was awesome how's that experience well it
03:19it was emotionally uplifting you know the American dream and everything and I'm sweating bullets because
03:25you're beside me and you're so handsome and here comes Tony with a fan but the saddest part was even
03:34though ace found out because the white house called he found out about the awards and he couldn't
03:41believe it he was looking forward to it but I got to tell you the saddest part is he just
03:46didn't make
03:46it he passed away before the Kennedy Center on and that's the saddest part I got a couple of questions
03:53from some Detroit right rock icons are you ready first of all Kid Rock said he wanted to say hello
03:57he
03:58says you're a fan and a friend and uh you want to say hello Ted Nugent I had to write
04:04this down
04:04because Ted's is a little bit long you know these guys yeah Ted said uh have him tell you about
04:08when
04:08he hired me for so many years and so many tours because we share the same belief in hard rock
04:11and
04:11music and the full entertainment showmanship as I guess that gets its comment actually right well I think it
04:17goes deeper that everything we do the music we play the instruments we play everything was invented here
04:25in America it comes originally from black music blues jazz hip-hop rock and roll it all comes from America
04:32and it's something we take for granted the rest of the world name a French rock band right yeah you
04:40can't do it
04:40name what yeah name a famous uh Japanese rock man go ahead uh loudness famous I know I produced I
04:49produced EZO but what's the second song of the first record you have no idea what you're talking about
04:54yeah yeah America gave pop culture American pop culture rules the planet so you can't talk about
05:03the music or Royal Oaks or Detroit without talking about America the red white and blue culture
05:09dominates the planet and that means our movies our culture our style because there's a profound
05:17difference between don't blow yourself blow me the hell you can move closer all of a sudden the cool
05:26stopped and she's happy good lord you hate me don't I swear I swear all right Gene one more question
05:35from a dude okay all right I'm kind of a big deal but now I forgot what I was going
05:41to talk about well I
05:42got one more question from a Detroit rock icon are you ready wow John five wants to know what is
05:49that
05:49called when somebody a daisy what is a daisy chain yeah there you go John five wants to know your
05:54favorite
05:54outfit on stage from 1974 through 1983 I like dressing up like him yeah like John yeah how does
06:01he dress I don't know if you've been to his museum has he been to mine I think he has
06:05it's at the Rio
06:06Hotel yeah oh I'm sure he has come on now yeah well Gene thanks so much for your time I
06:11I've actually
06:12spoken to John five's cousin John four all right Gene Simmons here rock and bruise in Detroit and
06:22Royal Oak with 101 WRIF thank you so much you don't have to validate Royal Oaks with any other city
06:28this
06:28is as cool as it gets I know Detroit's over there you come to Royal Oaks and find out how
06:33special this
06:34is and as always you can go to rock and bruise.com may I say just before we begin a
06:47lot of people get a
06:48lot of credit here so but the real credit goes to these two young fellows who look like these and
06:54that's
06:54right these two guys are not going to brag about it but they're the best neighbors you can have in
07:02your community because there's a park that's going to be built for you and your kids and they're
07:07reaching into their pockets to make your life better how about that I want to tell you that Detroit
07:17everybody talks about Detroit we own our stuff to Detroit first city that appreciated the band that I'm in
07:25which wears a song called Detroit Rock City but don't kid yourself this spot Royal Oaks is as cool as
07:43it gets you
07:44don't need to define yourself by Detroit when I look outside I don't see graffiti there are no drug addicts
07:51running down the street up and down all those folks this is a beautiful neighborhood and you should be proud
07:56of it
