Kannappa starts out as an atheist hunter. Which is usually a solid setup for, you know, realism. Then the movie does what it does best: it stops being subtle. Kannappa flips from “not buying it” to full-on devotion to Lord Shiva, and the commitment is… extreme. In a burst of religious seriousness, he plucks out his own eyes. No symbolism tour. No gentle metaphor. Just one very loud moment of self-sacrifice that leaves you wondering whether this is awe or alarm. The story is basically about how conviction can become a physical decision, fast. If you’re into spiritual spectacle that goes all the way instead of asking nicely, this one has your number. If you prefer your devotion with fewer consequences, maybe brace yourself. IMDb sits at 5.3, which feels like the most neutral warning label possible.

Ein atheistischer Jäger namens Kannappa, der eigentlich für Logik und Abstand steht, hat offenbar einen Schalter zu viel umgelegt. Nach und nach kippt er von „Gibt’s nicht“ zu „Ok, doch“. Und dann passiert das, was man nicht im Beipackzettel findet: In einem Akt radikaler Hingabe zerlegt er sich selbst. Augen raus. Nicht als Metapher, sondern als klares Statement. Der Film handelt also weniger von stiller Spiritualität, mehr von dieser speziellen Art von Fan-Religiosität, die Grenzen testet. Man merkt: Hier wird nicht diskutiert, hier wird entschieden. Ob das als Gänsehaut oder als „Was zur Hölle“ funktioniert, entscheidet der eigene Blick für religiösen Overkill. Die IMDb liegt bei 5.3. Ehrlich: Man schaut eher wegen des Irrsinns als wegen der Feinheit.
