00:00Don't hold back now.
00:02You're not good at lying.
00:04This is a lot like a football game.
00:06We're the Chiefs.
00:07You're on a junior high team right now.
00:09You need to pick which team you're going to be on.
00:12Because if you don't do what's right, it's going to be brutal for you.
01:00When I arrived, there was two people on the front porch and blood everywhere.
01:10Both victims looked as though they had been shot and were obviously deceased.
01:17The reporting party told me that they had a daughter, so I wanted to check for more victims inside the house.
01:30She was found in the bathroom of the home, uninjured.
01:34Alex had several gunshot wounds to the head.
01:50Brianna had two gunshot wounds.
01:53Alex had an empty holster on his right side and a Glock handgun laying between them near his right hand.
02:02There was an idea that he might have expected that there was going to be a problem, that he was going to have to defend himself.
02:09It was fully loaded, so we knew it wasn't a murder weapon.
02:13But I noticed a large amount of 9mm shell casings in and around the victims' bodies.
02:22There was a police officer who lived near the crime scene who realized that he had a doorbell camera.
02:27When that was reviewed, it did find the gunshots of the attack at 1.21 a.m.
02:34I heard what sounded to be 10 gunshots in a cadence of five.
02:56A small break and then five more gunshots.
03:00None of them overlapped.
03:05This led me to believe that there was a single shooter.
03:13Someone else has surveillance cameras near their driveway.
03:19We were able to see a small economy-style vehicle around the same time as the murderers.
03:25We weren't able to see the license plate or the color of the vehicle because it was at night, but that was a big piece of evidence.
03:36So, the reason we're here is before the police received your report this morning, which concerns Carl Sanders' house.
03:58Okay.
03:59Okay.
03:59But they did find Alexander and Brianna deceased.
04:08I don't have a lot of details right now.
04:11Yeah.
04:11So, just take a second to process that.
04:13That's a lot of information.
04:14She didn't say anything.
04:18She didn't ask about her daughter.
04:23She didn't ask any questions about the crime.
04:28Sometimes the sound of silence speaks louder than a thousand words.
04:37Do you know anything about any of that?
04:40No, I...
04:42No, uh...
04:44I was working all night.
04:48And you, just to be clear, what was your shift last night?
04:52Last it was 6 p.m. till 1.30-ish.
04:57Usually stay and hang out for a little bit.
04:59And when I got home, I was exhausted.
05:02Right.
05:03Didn't take long before I fell asleep.
05:04When was the last time you had any contact with Alex?
05:11From...
05:11Sunday, October 18th was the last time I spoke to him.
05:16When I went home.
05:17And then have you had any contact with Brianna?
05:19I've never even met her.
05:21Okay.
05:22She didn't seem shocked.
05:25She didn't seem worried or concerned.
05:28It was suspicious.
05:29It was suspicious.
05:34Alex and Teresa were not on good terms.
05:45There were associated claims regarding mistreatment of their daughter that each was making against the other.
05:52There was a light going on.
06:01There we go.
06:02Good.
06:03Okay.
06:03Come see.
06:04All right.
06:05All right.
06:07And...
06:07See your agreement there.
06:16Yep.
06:16Well, let me show you the part.
06:18Sure.
06:21There is that part.
06:22Every Sunday at 8 a.m., he's supposed to bring her to me.
06:25I texted him and said, I'm here where we normally do the exchange.
06:30And...
06:30He said, CPS is ordering him not to give the child over.
06:35He didn't say...
06:35Yeah.
06:36I plan on also having him prosecuted for violating for order as well.
06:40I don't know what he's trying to accomplish with this.
06:44All right.
06:45Follow me.
06:45All right.
07:02Teresa Cox had reported a 9mm handgun stolen from her vehicle.
07:07This really stuck out to me as the shell casings at the crime scene were 9mm shell casings.
07:13And then there was a subpoena that was served on Teresa's phone number.
07:20Text messages were discovered between her and Mixie that appeared to be planning the homicide.
07:25Mixie was talking about needing to get her head in the right space for what's going to happen tomorrow,
07:37which was sent on Thursday when the homicide occurred overnight on Friday.
07:41Also, it had previous messages between her and Mixie.
07:50Mixie is confronting Teresa and saying, you want me to kill someone.
07:54Teresa seems like the mastermind.
07:56I think she's going to kill someone.
07:57I think she realized Mixie was willing to do things for her and was able to manipulate Mixie into pulling the trigger and killing Alex and Brianna.
08:04When I think of Alex, the first word that comes to my mind is funny.
08:13His spirit was lighthearted, friendly.
08:17He was always ready with a kind word.
08:20In his youthful days, he was a little bit geeky.
08:25As he grew bigger, he became physically active and then followed eventually in my footsteps and joined the Army.
08:34No matter how big he got, he was still my little boy.
08:41Brianna was like a sister to me.
08:44She was pretty feisty.
08:46She was just going to take on the world and no one was going to tell her no.
08:48She worked three jobs just to be able to afford the house that she bought.
08:54She was so caring.
08:55And she loved children.
08:57She talked about Alex's daughter as if she were her own.
09:01Alex and Brianna met at a pizza parlor.
09:05He said it was instant love.
09:08Alex just talked about his future with Bri and having other children.
09:12He was so happy.
09:18You probably heard about what happened up in Willard.
09:39I've heard a little bit, pretty much it.
09:42So you work with Teresa, is that what it is?
09:43Yeah, I work with anything.
09:45So what happened Friday night then?
09:46You guys were working together?
09:48Yeah, she was there until, what was it, 1.30?
09:51Uh-huh.
09:54Yeah, 1.30 and then went home.
09:57What time did you guys close that night?
09:59Uh, I didn't get out of there until 4 o'clock.
10:02Did her girlfriend show up that day, that night, anytime?
10:06Not that I remember.
10:07Okay.
10:08Was there anything different about Teresa that Friday night?
10:11No.
10:12She, I mean, she was upset because she couldn't see her kid.
10:15Matt told me that tree was with him until they all left at 4.10.
10:27And her girlfriend got there about, like, 2.
10:31Come on.
10:31Come just a minute.
10:37So Matt said to the police that Teresa went home after work.
10:42And Matt told you, Teresa hung out with him all night.
10:47And he took her home.
10:51I don't know why he would have said opposite things.
10:55But tree was there just as late as he was.
11:00Her girlfriend didn't get there until a little earlier before they left.
11:04Okay, so you're 100% sure that Matt took, um, Teresa and her girlfriend home?
11:15Yeah.
11:16It was obvious that someone was lying.
11:22It did not seem like Ariel was in any way involved in this.
11:27But we believed that Matthew Plum could be hiding something.
11:34Thanks for coming in, brother.
11:49Not a problem.
11:51I'm Shannon Shipley on the phone that called you on the phone.
11:53Um, I appreciate you coming in.
11:57Um, okay.
11:59So, um, I'm going to ask you just straight up.
12:03Bet you didn't have anything to do with this, did you?
12:06My daughter, Katie, I heard her crying in the living room pretty uncontrollably.
12:21And I heard her move closer to my bedroom just screaming, crying.
12:26She's like, Mom, sit down, sit down.
12:28It's Alex.
12:29And she goes, he's dead.
12:34You could have just knocked me over with a feather.
12:39It was the worst day of my life.
12:40You might know that I talked to Ariel on Saturday.
12:54Some of the things that she told me you told her versus what you told the other officers didn't quite match.
13:02Did she tell you that?
13:05A little bit.
13:06A little bit.
13:06Okay, and so Friday, what happened?
13:08Friday night, Tree said her car was breaking down.
13:10She came in and told me that she had to let it sit because the transmission was overheating or getting hot or something.
13:18I don't, I didn't really understand.
13:22Did you have an instant to somebody say their transmission's hot?
13:26Ever in your life, somebody said, my transmission's really hot.
13:31That's, it kind of.
13:32Okay, no, it's the answer.
13:33It kind of seemed funny to me that I just let it go and went on with my job.
13:39What I'm taking is she just didn't want to drive no more because she wasn't getting very good tips or whatever.
13:43She just wanted to work inside.
13:45What happened?
13:47She was doing my dough prep, helping me clean up.
13:50Every once in a while, she'd make a couple pizzas.
13:53And then around 12, 30, 1 o'clock, we got one last delivery.
13:59And my closing driver took that one.
14:03And Trusis with you?
14:05Until like 1, 1.15, and then she left.
14:10Each time he would tell even a small lie, he would kind of wave his lie off by giving me the hand signal, I just lied to you.
14:24Whenever he gave me that signal, I knew to keep following that trail.
14:28So, there were no visitors that night, correct?
14:36Not that I remember.
14:37There was one time her girlfriend came up there, but I didn't see her after that.
14:41That's a visitor.
14:43That was like around 5 o'clock that afternoon.
14:46So between 2 and 4, 10, when you checked out, nobody came by?
14:52Not that I remember, because like I said, I was busy doing everything.
14:59What happened then?
15:01My nephew had my truck, and I called him to come pick me up when I was able to get off work.
15:09My nephew took me home.
15:14Apparently, Tree and her girlfriend was at my house.
15:16I got there, and they were there.
15:18They just showed up at your house in the middle of the night?
15:21They had walked over or something, I don't know.
15:24But she lives 30 minutes away, so how would she show up on foot?
15:29That doesn't make sense.
15:30I didn't ask.
15:34Don't hold back anymore, because I can see you are.
15:37I can see you are.
15:39You're not, you may think so, but you're not good at lying.
15:44He really wants to keep lying, and I keep cutting him off.
15:48I want him to know, I only want to hear the truth.
15:52And as I keep pursuing that, it pushes him into a corner to make a decision.
15:58Is it time to tell the truth?
16:00Am I going to be able to get out of this?
16:01So I took them home.
16:05So I can go to bed.
16:07Hmm.
16:08You forgot that you took them home?
16:10I was sleepy.
16:11That's a big thing to forget.
16:13I was sleepy.
16:15Tired.
16:16I was so tired anyway, I didn't even remember her.
16:19Hmm.
16:19And, uh, so how was, uh, Teresa and, uh, her girlfriend acting?
16:27I said just like, I think Norman was.
16:30I mean, she was upset about her car, but at the head.
16:34Yesterday, you and I had a conversation on your porch.
16:37Remember what I told you when you were standing there?
16:39What did I tell you?
16:41To be completely honest with you.
16:43You like football?
16:44Oh, yeah.
16:45Okay, so this is a lot like a football game, and what we're doing, we're the Chiefs.
16:50Teresa and Mixie are on a junior high team right now.
16:54You need to pick which team you're going to be on, because it's going to get brutal for you.
17:00If you don't do what's right.
17:02I'm not choosing their team.
17:04You had conversations with them that you're not telling us.
17:07No, Tim, no.
17:08That's not true.
17:09That's not true.
17:09Regular people, when you tell them that they're lying, will get very upset.
17:16Nobody wants to be called a liar.
17:18It doesn't bother him one bit, because he knows it's true.
17:22If there's something you think you're going to be in trouble for, you need to be the first
17:25one to talk about it, because the first person that talks gets the best deal.
17:29Whatever's in your mind right now, you need to tell us.
17:39Mixie showed up at work right around 2 o'clock, just after Tree left.
17:48She was a little bit nervous about something.
17:50She was distraught.
17:51I told her to sit down, and I'll see if I can find Tree.
17:56How do you know she's looking for Teresa?
17:57Because I put two and two together on that.
18:02What did Mixie tell you?
18:04She was saying something about she did something horrible.
18:08Did you already know?
18:09Did you know what she did?
18:11No, I didn't.
18:11You put two and two together?
18:13I didn't know.
18:14I'm hoping she didn't.
18:16I don't like that type of crap.
18:18You don't like the type of crap where people get gunned down?
18:22No, I don't.
18:22Yeah, I don't like that either.
18:24I think there's a lot more of this conversation than you're letting us know still.
18:27She didn't really tell me anymore.
18:29Is it because you already knew what she did?
18:31She didn't have to tell you?
18:33Do you know it was going to happen?
18:33That was a yes.
18:35That was a yes.
18:35It was.
18:36Okay, so you already knew.
18:37Okay, you already knew.
18:38Got it.
18:38You're worried you're going to be in trouble because you knew it was going to happen.
18:49You didn't do anything.
18:50You tell this lady exactly what happened and don't hold back now.
18:56This is it.
18:56The head goes down and we know that he's getting ready to give us some significant information,
19:08but he's having a hard time saying it.
19:10The cigarette break, it's a calculated risk.
19:19Could it be a chance for a person to decide that they don't want to do this anymore?
19:24Yes, but sometimes leaving the interview room is also a stress reducer.
19:31About two weeks ago, before this happened, okay, I'm asking you, I knew where she could
19:44get a throwaway gun.
19:45You're talking about Teresa?
19:46Yeah.
19:47Okay.
19:48I told her no.
19:50I don't.
19:50Sure.
19:53About a day later, she tells me that she has a gun.
19:59She was upset about everything going on.
20:02Right.
20:06And then she started talking to me about wanting to do it on a certain day.
20:14I'm like, well, if you're actually going to do it, do it.
20:20But I don't really want involved.
20:23If you're going to be at work, hey, there's your alibi.
20:26Right.
20:26I'm the same one on ship.
20:30Sure.
20:31So I was going with the alibi.
20:34So why did Bessie come back to the store?
20:38Because that was you?
20:39That was the plan?
20:40I guess for her to borrow Tree's car.
20:44But go do it, come back to the store, and then pick Tree up, come up, get the car, and go home.
20:52What did they do with the gun?
20:55That I didn't know.
20:57Teresa was looking for a way that she could carry out the homicides and avoid any consequences.
21:04You can see that in the setting up the alibi with Matt Plum.
21:07She manipulates all the pieces.
21:08She didn't care who, even among her friends, got hurt carrying out what she wanted to do.
21:18Okay.
21:21So the plan, was that something that you and Teresa discussed?
21:26Teresa discussed with me the plan.
21:28And was Mixie any part of that plan that you heard or you saw?
21:33Or was it just you and Teresa?
21:35Just me and Tree.
21:36Okay.
21:37So it was part of the plan then for Mixie to do the terrible thing?
21:41Okay.
21:43So Teresa clocked in at what time?
21:45I think it was six, when Tree coming in and told me her car was messing up.
21:51Yeah.
21:52Her car wasn't messing up.
21:54Yeah.
21:54Right.
21:55We know that.
21:57She was doing deliveries at, like, a certain point.
22:03And she backed off.
22:05And she stopped because?
22:06Because Mixie took her car out.
22:08Mixie didn't come back with the car until, like, 1.30.
22:13She went out, got in it, Mixie come in.
22:17That's when I was trying to calm her down, keep her out of the way.
22:22I asked her what it was, but she...
22:25And she told you because you knew the plan.
22:27I couldn't understand what she was saying because she was so hysterical and stuff.
22:33But she did calm down.
22:34She calmed down a little bit.
22:36She told me that she killed me.
22:40She killed him?
22:43Or?
22:44I guess she killed both of them.
22:47And Mixie didn't tell you how they got on the porch?
22:49I didn't ask.
22:52I didn't even want to know because it was already too much for me.
22:58Who did Mixie?
22:59No.
22:59I told him not.
23:01No.
23:02Now that you're, you know, telling the truth and being honest, you know, omission is a form of deceit, too.
23:10So if you've not told us stuff that we're going to find out, that would be bad.
23:15The GPS is going to show that I went driving around before I went home.
23:22Just to clear my mind.
23:24Where'd you go?
23:25I went to Rutledge Ridge walkways, and I sat out there for a while.
23:32What'd you do?
23:34I just sat in the truck.
23:36What were you thinking about?
23:37Why I even agreed to it?
23:46There's something more.
23:47Go ahead and hit me with it.
23:48I think I saw you.
23:49What is it?
23:49I told Teresa, if you wanted to get rid of a gun, Rutledge Wilson was a good place to go.
23:58That's why I drove down there to see, make sure she wasn't down there.
24:05Rutledge Wilson Farm Park is a working farm that is a park in Springfield.
24:13It's heavily covered with trees and foliage.
24:16A good place to dump a murder weapon.
24:19If you got rid of the gun, tell us now.
24:24I didn't get rid of it.
24:25Okay, well, here's the thing.
24:27If it makes you think, if he's to say anything like, hey, look, I gave him the gun to get rid of, that's going to be bad.
24:34Dude, if you took that gun, I get it.
24:36I understand that.
24:38Other people won't understand that, but what they won't understand is if you went all this way and then didn't come clean 100%.
24:46If you got rid of the gun, please don't hold back.
24:48If you did that, you're out there.
25:03Okay.
25:04So, Meg C, did she give you the gun when she came in or what?
25:08I don't know how it ended up in my truck.
25:10You just saw your truck?
25:11Yeah, I found it.
25:12Where was it?
25:13It was sitting underneath my back passenger seat.
25:17Hmm.
25:17Okay.
25:19And you know where it's at now?
25:20I saw you exactly where it's at.
25:23Is it outside?
25:25It's in the water.
25:27It's in the water.
25:28Okay.
25:29Well, we can go for a ride.
25:31You can show us where you pitched it.
25:33Would that be okay?
25:33You are going to be in some trouble, okay?
25:40But, dude, I'm telling you right now, honesty helps you.
25:44What kind of trouble am I looking at?
25:46It depends.
25:48You're being helpful now.
25:49We got in the car, and Matt took us to the location where he had thrown both the gun and the magazine.
26:00As soon as we were at the location, the Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team was able to locate the gun.
26:09The firearm matched the serial number that Teresa Cox had reported as stolen.
26:16Finding the gun was big.
26:17It was a direct tie of the murder weapon back to Teresa Cox.
26:26The evidence showed that he aided Teresa with the intent to further the homicide.
26:33She was able to manipulate Matt Plum into disposing of the murder weapon.
26:38Teresa, frankly, is the mastermind.
26:40It doesn't happen without her.
26:47We learned there was a friend who had helped him buy hair dye and told the police that they were in fugitive mode.
26:58It became apparent that Teresa and Mixie were on the run.
27:01We learned they hitched a ride with a trucker into Joplin and left the state.
27:13We were offered aid from the U.S. Marshals.
27:17They told me in no uncertain terms, we will get your guy.
27:29We obtained a search warrant for Teresa Cox's residence.
27:33We located a portable safe in the closet.
27:37We found the Smith & Wesson handgun magazine.
27:41The casings had S&B 9x19 20.
27:45The same head stamp found at the crime scene.
27:48Also, we received information from Teresa Cox's phone.
27:52Her internet search history was showing things like, what's the easiest way to kill people?
27:56How do you report a gun stolen?
27:58And then you also have things about how to go on the run.
28:01She had searches for Alexander Schuetz and Breonna Sproul's residence, which showed 41 photos of their house.
28:09It seemed that she had been planning the murders for quite some time.
28:12Teresa had a 2014 red Chevy Spark, which has a very distinctive profile.
28:29When I looked at the vehicle in the video, it looked exactly like a Chevy Spark.
28:37Our case is going from a very, very strong circumstantial evidence case to a hard evidence case.
28:45At that point, Mixie's taken into custody, and the marshals reach out to let our office know that they also had Teresa.
29:15We wanted to establish more evidence against Teresa that Teresa was pressuring Mixie to do this.
29:45Um, a lot has gone down in a little bit of time, and everybody is scared, all right?
29:53Everybody's pointing at you, Mixie.
29:56You're going to have one opportunity to put your side of the story out there.
30:03People that you thought were your friends are not your friends.
30:07You're all scared, and they're all singing like canaries, all right?
30:11They want you to take the whole heat for this, and I know that's not true.
30:32Right now, you're the only advocate for yourself.
30:34I'm not supposed to say anything.
30:43You're kind of at a crossroads where you have to make a decision for yourself.
30:49Do you want to protect Matt and Tree, or do you want to clarify how this thing came to birth?
30:56I already got everybody else's side of it, and I know that if it wasn't for pressure from Tree, this thing would have never happened.
31:09Would have never happened.
31:14So you tell me what you want to do.
31:18There ain't nothing I can say.
31:20What kind of relationship do you and Teresa have?
31:27She's my best friend.
31:30Any more than that?
31:33A lot more.
31:34I mean, I loved her.
31:37Do you still love Teresa?
31:40Yes.
31:41But it's never going to change.
31:45I'm a mystery.
31:46I just want things to be back to normal.
31:51I don't believe that normal's coming back.
31:55Um, tell me about the pressure that you were being placed under by Teresa.
32:03I don't want to go into any of this, y'all.
32:07And I'm so confused about a lot of things.
32:11Are you confused about, um, how you got drug into this?
32:17A lot of times, yeah.
32:19How do you think you got drug into this?
32:21I don't know.
32:25It was going to be a battle getting Mixie to roll on Teresa because she was so in love with her.
32:34So, I'm going to have to change to focus on Matthew's participation.
32:40I don't want to waste your time.
32:43I already wrote the reports.
32:45Nothing in purpose.
32:47Nothing is present.
32:47What I need is a confirmation that, um, Matt is being truthful in what he's saying because
32:56he's throwing everybody he can under the bus to, um, get himself some kind of sweetheart deal
33:03right now.
33:04I don't think anybody's going to be truthful in this situation.
33:08You're probably right.
33:10Are you?
33:12I have no reason to lie.
33:15Why is that?
33:16I just don't think I'm a liar.
33:18Then I guess it comes down to what part did everybody play in this?
33:27I guess that's the part that nobody knows then.
33:32I don't want to do this conversation anymore.
33:35Okay.
33:36That's all right.
33:37But you're screwing yourself.
33:41As long as Teresa's okay.
33:43Teresa's not going to be okay.
33:44I don't know why I love her.
33:58Mixie was done talking that day, but didn't close the door for subsequent interviews.
34:12Is that one in here?
34:13Got you.
34:14You have a seat right over here.
34:17Go ahead and put this on.
34:18Yep.
34:28Are you cold?
34:30No, I'm just shaking.
34:31Okay.
34:31I'm a bit shaking.
34:32Okay.
34:33Can I ask you what pronouns you like to go by?
34:36She, her.
34:37And if there's something you don't want to answer, you don't have to answer it.
34:40I guess.
34:40And you can stop at any time you want.
34:42I guess I'll check you out for a little bit.
34:43All right.
34:44So, uh, when did you meet Teresa, Mixie?
34:50Early July.
34:51She just saw me sitting by myself one day and she came up and she sat down and started talking
34:56to me and, uh, you know, she admitted to me that people said to kind of steer clear of
35:01me because I was weird and she didn't really want to listen to him.
35:05She wouldn't give me a chance.
35:07So, we started, we became pretty good friends from there.
35:12So, I wanted to show her that I was professional and that she was being respected.
35:17I want her to feel at ease.
35:20After that, then I can ask direct questions.
35:22I did choir for a little bit.
35:25I don't know.
35:25I was a very good student.
35:27I was.
35:27Art was really my only good subject.
35:29I think you have a story that people don't understand.
35:36I'm reading stuff on Facebook and people are saying negative stuff about you.
35:41They're saying really wrong stuff about you.
35:44And I don't think they know the whole story and I don't think it's fair.
35:49Mixie, did you shoot Alex and Brianna?
35:52I want to know.
36:05No, sir.
36:08Okay.
36:09Do you know who did?
36:10No, sir.
36:11I don't know anything about any of that.
36:13How did you find out that Alex had been killed?
36:17The news.
36:18What did it make you feel?
36:19I didn't know what to feel with Alex.
36:24I had asked Teresa before if I could get to know him, but she, uh, I never really got the opportunity to.
36:31Why not?
36:32She said he wasn't trustworthy and was a bad guy.
36:36And so I was wanting to eventually sit down and get all whatever their bad blood was worked out.
36:43But it just never worked out that way.
36:46And why was there bad blood between them?
36:49She told me a lot of things.
36:51She told me he used to beat on her and he'd tell everybody it was because he had PTSD.
36:57You ever think to yourself, I wish Alex would just go away?
37:01No.
37:02It was not my place to think things like that.
37:04Did Teresa think that?
37:06I don't know.
37:07Why do you think someone would harm Alex?
37:29I don't know.
37:32Why was someone hurt Breonna?
37:34I have no clue why someone would hurt her.
37:38If you had to name the real true victims in all this, who do you think the real true victims are?
37:44I have no clue.
37:45I don't know how to answer that question.
37:47I'm sorry.
37:47Can Mixie tell me why you couldn't have done this?
37:55Because it's just not me.
37:58It's just not a thing that I'm willing to do.
38:00For someone that had no involvement, it's a real quick answer.
38:06I didn't do it because I wasn't in Willard.
38:09Because I had no ill will against Alex.
38:12Because I had no firearm.
38:14But if they did do it, they have to convince you that they weren't part of this.
38:18And at this point, Mixie waffles a little bit.
38:20And I was out getting drunk with my friends anyway.
38:25Who were you drinking with that night?
38:31I think I'm done with questions.
38:33I just want to go back up to myself.
38:40A little interruption.
38:50There was a recording that Brianna took on her cell phone on the night of the murder.
39:02You can hear her talking to someone.
39:04I recognize the voice to be Mixie's voice.
39:11Hey, I'm sorry to call you again.
39:13I just wanted to ask my interview back.
39:15It's been a rough time between you and you and you so I can talk to you guys.
39:19I can call him if you want to do that.
39:25I'd just try to reveal it to you guys in person.
39:28Let me call him and see if he's going to be home.
39:31Mixie was luring Alex back home.
39:34He was originally supposed to work from 4 p.m. till midnight.
39:37But he left an hour early.
39:38He told a co-worker that his girlfriend Brianna was alone and he was afraid for her.
39:44And that's why he had a handgun on him at the crime scene.
39:49The first of three suspects charged with killing a Willard couple has pleaded guilty to his role in the double murder.
39:56Matthew Plump took a deal from prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a felony and tampering with evidence.
40:02I just wanted to begin by saying I'm sorry to the family.
40:18And I'm sorry to the heck is that Alex and Brandon?
40:20I knew it was wrong.
40:22And on the way there, I was asking myself, what the hell am I doing?
40:25Teresa Cox pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and two counts of armed criminal action.
40:35Cox addressed the court but didn't show any remorse.
40:38While she was being sentenced, she was making claims that whatever she did, she did for the daughter.
40:43I love her, and everything I've ever done is to give her the best life I could.
40:48Her safety, security, and happiness are my priorities in this life.
40:53As for the future, I wish to pursue her dreams and have the utmost success.
40:58Lastly, I hope she and I will have a relationship no matter where we are both at, if she so desires.
41:05Cox was sentenced, but not before Shute's family said their piece.
41:09I couldn't have believed that she was capable of something that much.
41:13Suffice to say, she is the face of evil.
41:16My one wish is that she gets everything she deserves and more.
41:20She is a psychopath.
41:26Teresa Cox was pure evil.
41:30She was somehow able to convince her co-workers to carry out murder.
41:37But we were able to bring some measure of justice to the family.
41:50We get to keep a little piece of him alive through her.
41:55That was Alex's baby girl, and he loved her so much.
41:59All Brianna wanted to do was love her like she was her own.
42:04I miss so much about Brianna.
42:05I miss everything about her.
42:10Alex's birthday is on Veterans Day, and we gather together on that day and have a toast in Alex's name and talk about a fun memory.
42:20And we include the entire family.
42:24I miss his wit.
42:26I miss his laughter.
42:28His gorgeous blue eyes.
42:30He was just a wonderful, thoughtful guy.
42:35He just made the world a better place.
42:37He just made the world a better place.
