00:01A large crowd of family members, friends and party colleagues gathered to bid a
00:06final farewell to former MCA president, Toon Dr. Ling Leong-sik, at his funeral
00:12service on Wednesday. The solemn ceremony began at 10 a.m. with relatives, close
00:18friends and party members paying their last respects. In a heartfelt eulogy, Dr.
00:24Ling's second son, He Kiat, expressed gratitude to those who had attended the
00:29wake over the past few days. Following the ceremony, members of the public were
00:35asked to leave the hall to allow the family a private moment for their final
00:40farewell. Among those who remained were former MCA president Tan Sri Ongka Ting
00:46and his wife, Puan Sri Wendy Chong-sio-mei, as well as former MCA deputy president
00:52Tan Sri Chan Kong-choy. At about 11 a.m., the hearse departed from Xiao-en Center,
00:58accompanied by family members, former comrades and party members. Also present
01:04were MCA president Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Xiong, deputy president Datuk Dr. Ma Hang-sun,
01:10secretary-general Datuk Chong-sin Woon, and vice presidents Datuk Tan-taik Cheng, Datuk
01:15Lawrence Loh and Datuk Lim Ban-hong. Dr. Ling, the sixth president of MCA, served as
01:21transport minister from 1986 to 2003. He passed away last Saturday at the age of 82. His wake
01:28was held at the Xiao-en Center in Sheras, where members of the public paid their respects over
01:33two days. The cortege will proceed to Xiao-en Memorial Park in Nilai for cremation.
