00:31These are your unbiased updates from Straight Arrow News.
00:37Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli. Iran is now just hours away from President Trump's 8 p.m. Eastern deadline to
00:44reopen the Strait of Hormuz or strike a deal.
00:47Trump pushed that deadline back by a day, calling it Iran's last chance and warning hell will rain down if
00:54there's no deal.
00:55Iran has rejected the U.S. proposal for a 45-day ceasefire, saying it wants a permanent end to the
01:02war.
01:02Iranian officials are also calling on civilians to form human chains around power plants as the country braces for possible
01:10strikes.
01:10The country's president says millions have volunteered to defend Iran, including himself.
01:16Trump says if no agreement is reached, the United States will target Iran's bridges and power plants.
01:22I'm concerned that your threat to bomb power plants and bridges amount to a crime stage.
01:26No, no, no, no. I hope I don't have to do it.
01:29Where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night,
01:36where every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding, and never to be used again.
01:44And it will happen over a period of four hours if we want it to.
01:48The entire country can be taken out in one night.
01:51As that deadline approaches, U.S. and Israeli strikes continue across Iran.
01:56State media reports dozens of casualties from attacks near Tehran,
02:01while Israel says it hit a facility tied to explosive materials.
02:05Strikes were reported in multiple areas overnight, including the capital and surrounding cities.
02:10The Artemis 2 crew is now heading back to Earth after pushing farther into space than any humans ever have.
02:18The four-person crew aboard Orion looped around the moon,
02:22reaching a maximum distance of more than 252,000 miles from Earth.
02:27That's more than 4,000 miles beyond the record set by Apollo 13 in 1970.
02:32The astronauts also became the first humans to see parts of the moon's far side with the naked eye.
02:38President Trump spoke with the crew live on Monday night,
02:42congratulating them and calling them modern-day pioneers.
02:45Today you've made history and made all America really proud, incredibly proud.
02:50We have a lot of things to be proud of lately,
02:52but there's nothing like what you're doing circling around the moon for the first time in more than a half
02:58a century
02:59and breaking the all-time record for the farthest distance from planet Earth.
03:03The Artemis 2 are a modern-day, you really are modern-day pioneers, all of you.
03:09Love the waving and fist bump, right?
03:11During the flyby, the crew watched a solar eclipse from space.
03:15Astronaut Victor Glover called it unreal.
03:18The mission is on track to splashdown in the Pacific off the California coast near San Diego
03:23just after 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday.
03:26Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a sweeping new law expanding the state's power
03:32to label groups as domestic terrorist organizations, and it's already drawing sharp blowback.
03:38DeSantis signed the bill Monday in Tampa, giving Florida new authority to designate both domestic
03:44and foreign groups as terrorist organizations.
03:47The law also bars courts from applying foreign or religious law, including Sharia law,
03:52and blocks public funding from going to any group labeled as a terrorist organization.
03:57It creates a process where state law enforcement can flag groups with final approval from the governor and cabinet.
04:04It also carries real consequences on college campuses.
04:08Students found to support designated groups can be expelled,
04:12and schools can lose funding tied to those organizations.
04:16DeSantis said the legislation is, quote,
04:18The strongest action Florida has ever taken to protect its people from this influence.
04:23What I see happening in Europe, I see a migration not to assimilate,
04:27but to displace the current cultures that are there.
04:30We obviously are not going to allow that to happen here in the state of Florida.
04:35Civil rights groups are pushing back.
04:37In a statement to CBS, CARE, Florida's executive director, said, quote,
04:42This is not just about CARE.
04:44This expanded and deeply flawed framework can attack any organization that dares to dissent.
04:50The measure passed along party lines and is expected to face legal challenges before it takes effect July 1st.
04:57Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will face questions on Capitol Hill next month
05:02about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, with the date now locked in.
05:06Lutnick is set to sit for a voluntary interview with the House Oversight Committee on May 6th.
05:12CNN was first to report the date, now confirmed by multiple outlets.
05:16Lawmakers are digging into Lutnick's relationship with Epstein
05:19after newly released documents brought those ties back into focus.
05:23Lutnick says he cut off ties with Epstein in 2005 and has done nothing wrong.
05:29But records show he later visited Epstein's island in the U.S. Virgin Islands
05:33and stayed in contact after Epstein's conviction.
05:36At a Senate hearing, Lutnick said his family went along,
05:40but he doesn't remember why he took that trip and insisted nothing inappropriate happened.
05:45He said he's ready to appear and wants to set the record straight.
05:49The Oversight Committee is widening its probe and lining up more witnesses tied to Epstein
05:53and how his case was handled.
05:56Voters in northwest Georgia head back to the polls today
05:59in a high-stakes runoff to replace former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
06:04Greene's resignation set off the special election.
06:07It's now down to two candidates after no one cleared 50 percent in March.
06:12Democrat Sean Harris and Republican Clay Fuller advanced to today's runoff.
06:16Harris led the first round with about 37 percent of the vote,
06:20with Fuller close behind at 35 percent.
06:23The winner will serve out the remainder of Greene's term through January,
06:27with both men expected to face off again in November for a full term.
06:31Republicans are looking to hold the seat in a deeply conservative district.
06:36Greene has backed Fuller, saying she does not expect voters to flip the seat.
06:40Did you watch it?

06:52Michigan started slow, missing its first 10 three-point shots.
06:56But the defense held, and the Wolverines took a 33-29 lead into the half.
07:01In the second half, Michigan took control.
07:03They dominated inside and at the line and wore down a UConn team, dealing with foul trouble.
