US President Donald Trump issued a final warning ahead of a peace deadline, stating, 'a whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again.'
Transcript
00:00All right, cutting across to a latest statement that has come from Donald Trump.
00:04Let's take you to that directly.
00:06Trump has now issued yet another warning right before that peace deadline comes to a hold.
00:12He says, and I quote him here in his Truth Social post, he says,
00:16a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.
00:22I don't want that to happen, but it probably will.
00:26However, now that we have complete and total regime change,
00:31where different, smarter and less radicalized minds prevail,
00:36maybe something revolutionary, wonderful can happen.
00:41Who knows, he says in caps.
00:43Goes on to say that we will find out tonight one of the most important moments
00:48in the long and complex history of the world.
00:52Also ends that entire post by saying 47 years of extortion, corruption and death will finally end.
00:59God bless the great people of Iran.
01:04Classic Trump-style post.
01:07Starts with a threat, leaves an opportunity for talks.
01:12Ends by saying that God bless the great people of Iran.
01:17It's less than 12 hours before that deadline that he had only set comes to an end at the moment.
01:24It seems like no peace is in sight.
01:26Look at the escalation.
01:27In just the past half an hour, we've seen a railway track being attacked in Iran.
01:35That is the first civilian infrastructure being attacked over there.
01:38Then we have this post by Donald Trump making it more clear as well.
01:42Pranay, this is seriously not leaving any hope.
01:48Not leaving any hope for peace at the moment.
01:53Are there any back-channel conversations on right now?
01:56How are we to assess?
01:59You know, Sonal, the reality of the battlefield is often decided by the ground action.
02:04And what we are witnessing on ground is only hardening of position and intensification of this conflict
02:10where, you know, the Israeli Defense Forces and both U.S. Ministry are striking various locations of Iran.
02:16And in fact, what U.S. President Donald Trump has put out on Israel's social post,
02:20this clearly indicates that the gloves are completely off.
02:24And now, the real intention of the United States about the regime change of going for the complete changeover of
02:30the political system in Iran,
02:32this is what he has indicated.
02:34And in fact, whatever he has denied that he did not have the intention of having a regime change,
02:41it has never been an objective.
02:43But clearly now, he has again reiterated the same thing, which he denied almost like 24 hours ago.
02:48But this clearly shows that next 24 hours are going to be very important, very crucial for this entire West
02:54Asia region
02:54because if the United States is going to use its full force against Iran and the way,
03:00you know, the IEF spokesperson indicated in my interview today that, you know,
03:04we have our targets and we will keep pounding, keep striking all those targets
03:09till the time, you know, we achieve our objectives and we will take as long as it takes.
03:16All right. So, am I understanding this correctly, Pranay,
03:19that U.S. and Israel say they will continue bombing
03:23till the time the Strait of Hormuz is opened?
03:27Iran says it will not open till the time you stop bombing.
03:30Is that where we are?
03:33No, Sunil, I don't think so that Strait of Hormuz is the only issue here
03:37because, you know, Strait of Hormuz is the one leverage Iran is having
03:42and I think they are using this leverage as a bargaining chip to get a deal.
03:47Though there are some back-teners going on, there are such internal look-iters,
03:50those who are in touch and as President Donald Trump himself said just a few hours ago in his presser
03:55that his, you know, special envoy Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law Gerard Kushner are engaging,
04:00including Vice President J.E. Vance as well.
04:02They are engaging in this conversation and he prays.
04:05But I think he is exerting maximum pressure on Iran to take that deal
04:10or his style is pretty clear as well here.
04:14It's either my way or highway.
04:16Right. So, who exactly are these intermediaries?
04:19Who's getting the negotiations done between the two sides at the moment?
04:25I don't think so that there are exactly mediation or mediators.
04:30But certainly, Pakistan is playing a role of a messenger,
04:34conveying the messages from Islamabad, from Washington D.C. to Tehran
04:40and from Tehran to Washington D.C.
04:42There are some intermediaries, those who are engaging with both the sides
04:46and, in fact, the neighbours of Iran are in touch.
04:50The Hakan Saddam and the foreign minister of Turkey and other leaders,
04:56they are talking to the Iranian foreign minister, Tehran Dabbas, Araki,
05:01and they are also in conversation with the U.S. interlocutors.
05:04But the real issue remains that the kind of guarantee,
05:07you know, there are different objectives.
05:10There is a clarity as far as the Israeli position is concerned.
05:13They want the elimination of all possible threats emanating from Iran.
05:18As far as the U.S. position is concerned,
05:20President Donald Trump is looking at some kind of a big achievement or a big victory.
05:24On the other side, Iran is looking at some sort of assurance,
05:29some sort of guarantee that they won't be attacked again.
05:32Compensation as well.
05:33And for that, they are also looking at compensation as well.
05:35However, they have proposed an idea that they will be living around $2 million per shift
05:41for the safe passage of these ships so that they can recover their damages
05:45and they are ready to share that money share with Oman as well
05:51because the state of Hormuz has territorial waters of both Oman and Iran.
05:56I'll also request our producers to put down that 10-point agenda
05:59that Iran has actually put out.
06:01And let's split that screen between that and what's the latest comment by Donald Trump.
06:07And let's see what exactly is it that both sides say right now.
06:10But Pranay, indulge me a little bit.
06:12If a miracle were to happen, what Donald Trump says, who knows?
06:17We'll find out tonight, he says.
06:19There are some people who perhaps might be able to get this to a compromise,
06:23might be able to achieve peace.
06:25What would be that one thing that can actually, you know, put an end to this war?
06:31You know, if I put it in a very clear way that, you know,
06:36it's like the rule of a gully cricket
06:37where, you know, the person who's having a bat and ball,
06:41he decides that, you know, which way you'll consider
06:43where the four is and where the six is.
06:45So completely, you know, U.S. president is in full control of this entire conflict
06:50because if he decides to call off this operation,
06:53then the large thing, this entire operation will,
06:55or entire conflict will calm down to a great extent
07:00because this will change the entire dynamics.
07:03So I think President Donald Trump can decide
07:05depending on, you know, which way he would want to project it as a victory.
07:10But his current tone in China clearly indicates
07:13that he is putting maximum pressure on Iran to accept the deal suggested by him.
07:18Now it is for the Iran and the pressure will be on Iran.
07:21You know, under what circumstances and the what conditions,
07:24we can accept those things.
07:25And what exactly could be the formula?
07:28Because in the past, we have seen that the diplomatic negotiations
07:31were underway at the time when Iran had to face those military operations,
07:37and lead the 12-day war of 2025, or lead this ongoing conflict.
07:43Right.
07:44Pranay, I'm just repeating for our viewers who are just joining in
07:47the latest statement that has come from Donald Trump.
07:50In his latest social media post, he goes on to say
07:53that the whole civilization will die tonight.
07:56Remember, it's about 6, 6.30 in the morning for us over here tonight,
08:00Tuesday night for them, Wednesday early morning for us,
08:02where he says never to be a great, a whole civilization.
08:06He says, we'll die tonight, never to be brought back again.
08:09I don't want that to happen.
08:12But if it probably will, he says.
08:15However, now that we have complete and total regime change,
08:19where different, smarter and less radicalized minds prevail,
08:24maybe something revolutionary, wonderful can happen.
08:29Who knows, he says, in caps lock.
08:32Typical Donald Trump sort of behavior.
08:34Starts with a thread, goes on to say there is still a possibility,
08:36and then ends by saying, we will find out tonight.
08:39One of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world.
08:44He says, 47 years of extortion, corruption and death will finally end.
08:49So I'm trying to justify the war there in his last line,
08:52and then ends by saying, we'll finally end.
08:55God bless the great people of Iran.
09:01Pranay, Pranay, decode this for us,
09:03because what we've understood is that the,
09:08all right, we'll try and connect back to Pranay Upadhyay,
09:10who's reporting from Israel as we speak.
09:12Now, what has happened in the past half an hour,
09:14let me just put things in perspective for our viewers.
09:17While Donald Trump has issued this sort of threat,
09:20you can call it, or you can call it a kind of,
09:24you know, warning of sorts that it's giving.
09:27While that has happened, just about half an hour ago,
09:30is when Israel had attacked a railway track in Iran.
09:36Why is that?
09:37Why is that relevant?
09:38All right, J.D. Vance is speaking.
09:39Let's cut to that.
09:40Thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister,
09:42Mr. Vice President,
09:43that concludes our press conference.
09:44Thank you very much for being with us,
09:46and goodbye.
09:59All right, we'll try to rewind that
10:00and see what the statements came from J.D. Vance.
10:03Remember, he's one of them who was named by Donald Trump
10:06as the mediator between the two sides.
10:08So what he says will be interesting.
10:10We'll try to cut across to that as well.
10:12But what you're seeing right now on your screen
10:15is even before the deadline has ended,
10:18we have less than 12 hours for the deadline to end.
10:20Even before that has happened,
10:21we're already seeing attacks on civilian infrastructure.
10:25This time it started with railway tracks,
10:27as was threatened by Israel.
10:30So Israel has given some sort of a teaser in a way
10:33to say that this is the extent to which we can go.
10:36Donald Trump has made his point very clear
10:39on his social media, at least.
10:40So now one has to really wonder what happens next.
10:44But one thing is clear,
10:46in about 11 hours, 35 minutes,
10:49it's about early Wednesday morning for us here in India,
10:52which way the war goes next will be clear.
10:57Peace, I have to be honest to say,
10:59looks very, very unlikely.
11:01We're seeing no signs of that just yet.
11:02We are only seeing more escalation,
11:05more threats happen,
11:07more forces being sent,
11:10on route over the seas there.
11:12We only hear more radicalized views.
11:14We only hear worse language.
11:17So things are escalating both on the war escalation ladder
11:21and also the way the language is going here.
11:23So there is clearly a point where we've come,
11:27where we will decide,
11:28or perhaps these leaders get to decide,
11:31which way your and my life works.
11:32It's not just about what happens in West Asia
11:34or what happens in Iran and Israel
11:36or in the U.S.
11:37It's about your and my life
11:38that gets impacted by all of this.
11:41And that very critical thing
11:43is hanging with these world leaders.
