Observing the gradual release of winter's hold is a quietly remarkable experience, happening little by little. The lens captures a vast expanse of frozen surface as a device penetrates through it. The videographer shared with WooGlobe, “My business, Dauriyatour, organizes trips around Lake Baikal. During each outing, we drill into the ice to measure its thickness and sample the water.” A circular gap develops, and the ice nearby slowly separates. Water begins to fill the opening until it reaches the same level as the ice. This slow transition from solid to liquid creates a rhythmic and pleasing experience. The film concludes with a tranquil reflection against the light ice.
