00:01It's been absolutely incredible here at the Stull Gift.
00:05We've seen three days of some incomparable athleticism here at the ground since it kicked off on Easter Friday.
00:13And we've seen some massive names come through the gift, as you said, most prestigious running race in Australia, really,
00:22in recent years, including some international talent as well.
00:25Obviously, last year, we saw the incredible gout-gout running here and the men's 120-metre handicapped.
00:32And this year, so far, we've seen a couple more American runners who have been joining in and absolutely smashed
00:39the heats at the weekend.
00:40That's none other than Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman, who both won their 120-metre run at the weekend.
00:48And the semis are about to be underway, and that's really going to define how the rest of the day
00:53is going to look.
00:53But here in the crowds, it really is just such a special event.
00:57We're seeing hundreds of people who have come from near and far to watch the events.
01:02It really is brilliant.
01:03We spoke with a couple of those onlookers this morning, and here's what they had to say about what they'd
01:07seen.
01:08Oh, I think this is absolutely wonderful.
01:10This is first time here at Stull, but for me, as a Masters runner, I'm here to see how the
01:15pro runners do it, and it's very impressive.
01:18I'm really enjoying it.
01:19It's very, like, entertaining and so fun.
01:22It's just such a good, like, environment, and it's just so exciting.
01:27It is such an exciting anniversary of the 144th annual Stull gift.
01:32It's actually the 30th anniversary that none other than homegrown talent, Kathy Freeman, won her 400-metre race from scratch.
01:42That's in 1995 and 1996.
01:44We actually managed to speak with Kathy Freeman this morning, which was such an honour, such a pleasure.
01:50She really was brilliant to talk to.
01:52She sat us down and told us what she remembered of that event 30 years ago.
01:5630 years ago, it's a real privilege to be able to remember something that happened quite a while ago in
02:05the first instance, you know, to be able to, you know, be alive and to enjoy a moment so long
02:12ago.
02:12So I'm really excited.
02:14I've put my daughter and brought a friend with her, and it's just a lovely time in my life where
02:22I can reflect after 30 years about something so incredibly kind of special to me.
02:28I'm not sure if you can hear some of the hullabaloo going on behind me, but we are just about
02:33to hit those semis, men's and women's events, which is really, as I said, it's going to shape how the
02:39rest of the day is going to look, who's going to compete, who's going to get their foot out on
02:42that grass.
02:43Today is, as I said, the final day of the Stull gift, and it's where we're supposed to get those
02:48120-metre handicap finals at 1.45 for the women's and at 2.20 for the men's.
02:54And I can guarantee my eyes are going to be absolutely glued to the ground when we see them hit
03:00the running.
