00:00Tonight on The Proof is Out There, another strange UFO is caught on camera by the U.S. military.
00:07But what is it?
00:09It's not aerodynamic. No type of aircraft is going to have that kind of shape.
00:13We've seen alleged video of Australia's Bigfoot.
00:17Now, have we heard its chilling cry?
00:21You can hear that, right?
00:22Yeah, I will hear it.
00:23The descriptions they gave is that it was twice as big as a person is.
00:28Why are these unusual structures popping up all over the world?
00:32People believe clearly there's a higher power, a higher civilization trying to talk to us.
00:38Has an extinct species suddenly been found alive?
00:43Could we be looking at some type of ancient permafrost species that has been frozen in time?
00:49And did a ghost hitch a ride on a roller coaster?
00:52You see an empty car, and then something that looks like a dark shadow just rises up.
01:03Around the globe are videos,
01:07photos,
01:09and sounds that defy explanation.
01:17We don't know where they come from, who made them, or how they operate.
01:20What are they?
01:21Some sort of bizarre mutation.
01:24What's exciting is nobody really knows.
01:26Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof.
01:30I'm Tony Harris, and as a journalist for more than 30 years,
01:34I've followed the facts where they take me.
01:36Now I'm bringing that spirit of investigation to the world's strangest sounds and images.
01:41It's coming towards us.
01:43We'll analyze each one with top experts.
01:46It's a credible case.
01:47It's a credible video.
01:49And pass a verdict on what it is.
01:51This video was clearly faked.
02:04Good evening, and welcome to The Proof is Out There.
02:08UFO videos from the U.S. military are some of the most credible out there.
02:13And when these sightings happen during active operations,
02:16it's not just a mystery.
02:19It could be a serious security threat.
02:21The United States military is on a mission over the Persian Gulf on an undisclosed date.
02:28The operation is proceeding as planned,
02:30until their sensor system captures something else sharing the skies,
02:34a UFO that would make headlines.
02:38The thermographic image shows what looks like a spiky object floating in midair,
02:44with an S-shaped line, maybe a smoke trail, extending beneath it.
02:49We don't know much else about this image, but it's come to be known as the chandelier.
02:55Investigative journalist Jeremy Corbell released the photo in January 2024.
03:01We don't know what it is yet, but it was designated unidentified by our Department of Defense and Intelligence Agencies.
03:08As the national media starts buzzing about the photo, Jeremy Corbell says there's even more to this story than a
03:15single still image.
03:17There is video, and that video should be released to the public.
03:20But as a journalist, that's not my decision.
03:23That's the decision of the Department of Defense.
03:26If you were to watch that video, you would see the chandelier UFO do some very unique movements,
03:32kind of like this, like a corkscrew rotating.
03:35Still, the photo alone has drawn plenty of attention and speculation.
03:41This image was quite popular just because of its unusual nature.
03:46Many people believe that this thing could be a weapon of some sort.
03:51But not everyone is satisfied with that theory,
03:54especially since this isn't the only UFO of its kind.
03:57This object or type of object has been seen in other places around the world.
04:02In 2022, another spiky airborne object made news
04:06when multiple witnesses captured video of it hovering over Tlaxcala, Mexico.
04:13Even centuries ago, paintings like this one, dubbed Madonna del UFO,
04:19show strange, multi-pointed objects in the sky.
04:22So, a lot of people have seen these type of things in many different places
04:27and are still trying to figure out what they are.
04:32These spiky UFOs look almost like fractals,
04:36a kind of geometric figure of repeating patterns.
04:40And they're more common than you'd think.
04:43Snowflakes, seashells, trees, all fractals.
04:46Is this chandelier a feat of nature, or is there another explanation?
04:50Let's let our experts decide.
04:57Given the spoked shape of the UFO,
05:00we first ask if this could be something radial, like helicopter rotors.
05:05We're looking at an infrared shot.
05:07This is a shot where black means hot and white means cold or cooler.
05:12And so, this is supposedly some hot object.
05:16If we think about how a helicopter appears on the infrared,
05:20remember, a helicopter's got the whirling blades.
05:22Well, those whirling blades are actually going to be cooled by the air.
05:27They're not going to actually show up very well on an infrared camera.
05:31Instead, that black hot signature suggests that this could indeed be a weapon.
05:36Everything that we see in this image is very consistent of a missile being filmed from the rear.
05:43And because of the high heat and intensity of the missile's propulsion system,
05:47it's producing a diffraction artifact on the camera system.
05:53Diffraction artifacts occur when bright light hits an obstacle inside a camera.
05:58This causes the light to bend or diffract, creating a pattern that looks like a fractal.
06:04This artifact of nature colliding with technology isn't an unusual sight in military operations.
06:11For example, this airstrike in Syria produced a diffraction artifact
06:15that looks a lot like our chandelier UFO.
06:19Those actually line up consistently with the stabilizing support veins of that camera system.
06:26So this is not the actual shape and size of something that's moving through the air that looks like a
06:32chandelier.
06:33We're getting that artifact based on that high-energy heat source that's being photographed.
06:39And that S-shaped trail could be the plain giveaway that this is no interstellar craft.
06:45The contrail or smoke trail that we see there,
06:48extremely consistent with a missile as it tries to stabilize on its axis.
06:53But hold on, the shape of that line might match a missile's smoke trail, but the color does not.
06:59Well, there seems to be a plumy thing right here, but it looks white.
07:04That doesn't match what would be like an exhaust or smoke, because the smoke would be warm.
07:09This should have been a darker line, not a bright line.
07:12And that tells me it's not an exhaust of any kind.
07:15So this is one of those cases where the photo really doesn't tell us a story.
07:20I cannot come up with a definitive answer, because it doesn't have enough information.
07:29Our verdict?
07:30This case remains unexplained.
07:33While we agree with Macmillan that a diffraction artifact is responsible for this image,
07:38D'Antonio's analysis of the exhaust makes it hard to confirm it's a missile.
07:43The military would have to release more information.
07:47We're waiting.
07:50Now, we may be the best at analyzing UFO images, but we are not the only ones doing it.
07:57The Archives for the Unexplained in Sweden has one of the world's largest collections of UFO and paranormal research.
08:04In its collection are two UFO photos that European researchers have been unable to explain for decades.
08:11Now it's our turn.
08:15Beneath the streets of Norseping, Sweden, lies the Archives for the Unexplained,
08:21a 7,535-square-foot library of strange phenomena.
08:28Only around 300 visitors are allowed in each year.
08:32But chairman Klaus Svahn is giving us special access.
08:36We are trying to save for posterity files, books, pictures, films, audio files, everything connected to the unknown with the
08:48focus on UFOs.
08:52One of the most notable cases catalogued in the archives is this photo from the 1946 ghost rocket phenomenon.
09:00Snapped from an air surveillance tower, the photo depicts one of the hundreds of so-called ghost rockets reported that
09:08year.
09:08Despite an official investigation, those sightings were never explained, and strange aerial sights in Sweden would continue for years to
09:18come.
09:18In fact, French researcher Baptiste Freescore says one of the archives' most extraordinary photos was snapped by an artist in
09:281956 on the Swedish island of Moorhaire.
09:33He was with his friend on a fishing trip.
09:37He was about to take a photograph of his friend that just caught a fish.
09:41He spots a shining object.
09:44The photo shows a white curved object tucked behind a hill and surrounded by brush.
09:51There was a special office at the Swedish military during the 1950s, and they spent so much time trying to
09:57figure out what this Moorhaire picture really showed.
10:02And they didn't really do that. It's still a mystery.
10:06Another one of the archives' most mysterious photos was taken nearly 50 years later, in 2003, near the town of
10:15Mosko-Yarvi.
10:16At 1 a.m., Matt Josephson and Roger Johansson are in front of their house.
10:25They look into the distance and see a huge light above a mountain near their lake.
10:31Roger pulls out a phone and snaps this photo.
10:35It appears to be a bright white orb flanked by green and yellowish wings of light.
10:41I could see on Swedish military radar, corresponding very, very well with the story from the two witnesses.
10:50I think it's very, very seldom you can see two witnesses, a great picture, and a radar return.
11:00Two photos taken half a century apart, one on film and one on a cell phone.
11:06That's a remarkable testament to the longevity of the UFO phenomenon.
11:10But what did they really document?
11:13Let's see what our experts have to say.
11:19We first ask whether the Mosko-Yarvi UFO could be something as simple as a helicopter searchlight.
11:26Based on the photograph, it could be anything bright.
11:28But then we have to add in the eyewitness testimony.
11:31They would hear the rotor of a helicopter.
11:33So I would assume that the eyewitnesses would have known if this was a helicopter.
11:38But if it wasn't a helicopter searching for someone, maybe it should have been.
11:43One of the more disheartening things here is perhaps this was a signal flare from somebody who was in trouble,
11:48somebody who has gotten lost in the wilderness.
11:50Thankfully, the archives already considered this possibility.
11:55We checked, of course, if there were anyone in need of help, if there were any flares up in the
11:59air.
11:59There were nothing like that.
12:01There were no ambulance aircraft in the air.
12:05There were no calls to the police.
12:08So what about the Mohair photo?
12:10The Swedish military concluded it was a bank of file.
12:14But that's not consistent with the eyewitness account.
12:17When I talked to him a couple of years before he passed away, he said it was traveling so fast.
12:24And it didn't really look like a fault.
12:27So he couldn't really explain it in any mundane way.
12:31Could it be another natural phenomenon?
12:33One that remains unexplained in its own right?
12:37Earth lights.
12:37It's been theorized these balls of plasma arise from the Earth and ascend in the air.
12:43These have been captured on video.
12:45There's been scientific studies behind them, though no conclusive explanation for how these plasma balls would be formed or if,
12:51in fact, they are plasma balls.
12:53However, we're not ready to make that call on the basis of one blurry photo alone.
12:58Unfortunately, there's just not enough information from the eyewitness accounts or the photographs to conclusively say what either of these
13:06objects are.
13:07So these are incidents that are going to remain unexplained probably forever.
13:42Our verdict?
13:42The other thing is, like, a little bit of an old house.
13:43Maybe a cemetery.
13:44How about an amusement park?
13:47That's right.
13:48After watching this next video, you will never ride a roller coaster the same way again.
13:54September 2021.
13:56Mazatlan, Mexico.
13:58Gustavo Alcárez takes his little brother Giovanni to an annual fair, recording the excitement as the roller coaster ride they're
14:07on starts to twist and turn.
14:09But when they later replay the video, they spot something bizarre.
14:14The ride is nearly empty, and no one can be seen in the back.
14:19But halfway through the ride, a dark figure suddenly appears in the rear car.
14:25Let's see that again.
14:26Close up and slow down.
14:28One moment, there's no one in the last car.
14:31Then, a ghostly figure seemingly materializes out of nowhere.
14:36The silhouette remains seated for a split second before vanishing again.
14:41Another macabre twist to this story?
14:43When Gustavo's video goes viral in November, some folks link it to a popular Mexican celebration that takes place around
14:51the same time, the Day of the Dead.
14:53It's called Dia de los Muertos.
14:56And the idea is that your ancestors can come back to visit, usually at the place that they are laid
15:03to rest.
15:03And the spirits would know that this is where you go in between worlds.
15:07As ghost sightings go, this one could fall in the category of phantom travelers.
15:12Ghosts who haunt specific roads and modes of transportation after a connected tragedy.
15:18And that's relevant here.
15:20Near to this particular amusement park in Mexico, there's another amusement park where, several years ago, there was an accident
15:28where the final car on a roller coaster derailed.
15:41There are also those who wonder whether so-called ghosts like this are actually travelers visiting from a parallel universe.
15:50If that sounds too out there, a 2020 study theorized a multiverse in which parallel universes exist like bubbles in
15:59a pot of boiling water, colliding and imprinting on one another.
16:03It's enough to question whether traveling between these colliding parallel universes is possible.
16:10Could this be a clear example of a traveler that is hitching a ride somewhere, perhaps within this world?
16:20Mexico's Day of the Dead is ancient, dating back to an Aztec celebration of the Queen of the Underworld.
16:27But is the figure in our roller coaster video really a spirit summoned back to the world of the living
16:33by this timeless festival?
16:35Let's ask our experts.
16:41Could this be a living being from a parallel universe?
16:45In physics, we exist in multiple universes at the same time.
16:50Get used to it.
16:51But hopscotching from one to another, not so fast.
16:55At the present time, physics as we know it do not allow for large objects like us to move freely
17:02between these parallel universes.
17:04Because the energy to travel between universes is far beyond anything that we humans can muster on our planet Earth.
17:14It would take the energy of basically the Big Bang in order to travel between these parallel universes.
17:24So is the rider a spirit from beyond the grave?
17:28Skeptics think not.
17:29I think this is actually a real person in this car.
17:34I think it's a carnival worker who's really used to this ride and they were able to just hop on
17:38at some point in the ride when it was slowing down perhaps to go up one of the risers.
17:43But, you know, we see carnival workers do quite amazing things on their rides sometimes.
17:47Like we see in this video from Korea, where a carnival worker performs a jaw-dropping stunt on a moving
17:54ride.
17:55This isn't something that you could do at a roller coaster like at Six Flags.
17:58Normally, you're kind of strapped into a roller coaster and you can't really move around.
18:02Here is a kid's roller coaster where they're just kind of sitting on seats with maybe a seat belt.
18:06So it's a lot easier to pull off this type of prank.
18:13Our verdict? Carnival worker.
18:15We agree with Mick West that the figure here is most likely a person who hopped on, then hopped off
18:22the ride.
18:23We just don't see that on camera.
18:25There are plenty of reasons to be terrified on a roller coaster.
18:28But in this case, we can cross ghosts off the list.
18:35So, we've seen plenty of images of strange creatures out of Australia on this show.
18:41And we're not just talking about the duck-billed platypus.
18:45Now we have a strange sound to investigate.
18:48And this could be even more shocking.
18:50Let's head down under.
18:51It's April of 2023 in the small town of Bonny Doon in Victoria, Australia.
18:58Truck driver Jay Brooks and his family have decided to sell their old cabin in a caravan park.
19:04They've just finished clearing it out when they hear this.
19:11What the f*** is that?
19:15It's a loud, whistling howl, seemingly coming from everywhere.
19:19The family records the bizarre sound while wondering to themselves what it could be.
19:24You can hear that, right?
19:26Yeah, what is it?
19:26I've got no idea.
19:28It continues for about two minutes and then fades away.
19:32Eerie, right?
19:38Many on the internet were stumped by this sound.
19:41But some have pointed to the legendary Australian yaoi.
19:45The yaoi is an Australian Bigfoot.
19:47That's the simplest way you can put it.
19:49Reports of the yaoi go back several hundred years with a variety of descriptions.
19:55Some people describe them as marsupials.
19:57Some people describe them as primings.
19:58But when you average it all out, most of the time, the reports kind of look basically like a North
20:05American Sasquatch of some sort.
20:07The yaoi legend was a fixture amongst the indigenous peoples of Australia.
20:12And when colonizers arrived, they claimed to see it too.
20:16One of the earliest recorded observations of a yaoi came in the 1780s outside of Sydney.
20:22A group of these European settlers went off for a hunting trip, and on the way back, they saw this
20:27thing standing up on, like, an edge of a cliff or a precipice, just watching them.
20:32The descriptions they gave is that it was twice as big as a person is.
20:37And sightings continue to this day.
20:40Just a few years ago, a group got really amazing thermal footage of a yaoi, and it is fantastic.
20:47You can see the shape of the head as being very inhuman.
20:50You can see that it's a lot larger than the people who were there at the time.
20:55It is actually astounding footage of a yaoi in its natural environment.
21:03We examined that thermal yaoi footage on a previous episode, but couldn't come to a definitive conclusion on what it
21:09was.
21:10So perhaps the yaoi really is out there somewhere down under.
21:14Did this video capture its calls on tape?
21:18Let's call in our experts.
21:25Our first step was to tackle the yaoi theory by running an audio comparison between these howls out of Bonny
21:32Doon.
21:37You can hear that, right?
21:38Yeah, what is it?
21:40And a recording of what the Bigfoot community believes to be a genuine Sasquatch screech.
21:46It's called the Ohio Howls.
21:54So the Ohio Howls have a sound that has a definite pitch to it that is going up and down,
22:00more of a ooh effect, where we get a higher frequency and a lower frequency.
22:06The Bonny Doon recording has more of a broadband noise quality to it.
22:10So I'm not detecting anything like the Ohio Howls in that recording.
22:15So what are we hearing?
22:16After further examination, a clue emerges.
22:19One of the things that I had noticed was that there was a presence of little clicks in the audio
22:25at several places that have a very specific rhythm.
22:37That clicking rhythm is reminiscent of a recording made a few years back and far, far away.
22:44In 2005, the Cassini mission that NASA sent to the planet Saturn was studying some of the characteristics of the
22:52electromagnetic environment around the planet.
22:56They then converted those electromagnetic measurements into sound to visualize what those measurements would tell us.
23:11This Cassini recording has this same whoosh sound and, lo and behold, has these click sounds present in that recording.
23:19I can match up the Cassini recording with the Bonny Doon recording.
23:24The Bonny Doon video incorporated this sound from the Cassini mission and it was not recorded at that scene.
23:35Our verdict?
23:36We're calling this one a good old-fashioned, family-operated hoax.
23:41The Yowie might be real, but this recording is not.
23:45Better luck next time, mate.
23:49A few years back, we did a story on the Utah monolith, a structure that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
23:56In the years since, several similar objects have mysteriously turned up and just as soon vanished.
24:03So when one recently appeared outside Las Vegas, we decided it was time to head to Sin City.
24:12June 17th, 2024.
24:15The Las Vegas Police Department is on a rescue mission in the middle of the desert when they discover something
24:20completely unexpected.
24:23A six-foot, five-inch, gleaming monolith is standing out in the middle of nowhere.
24:29It seems otherworldly, with reflective surfaces that mirror the vast desert landscape.
24:35Most puzzling of all, there's no trace of just how this structure got here.
24:39This object instantly invites comparison to an equally mysterious structure discovered in Utah in 2020.
24:47It needs to be mentioned that the monolith in Utah was never able to be successfully collected and tested in
24:52a lab.
24:52And it just kind of vanished.
24:54And then monoliths started showing up around the world.
24:57Another monolith was discovered just outside of a city in Romania.
25:01And then another monolith was found on top of Pine Mountain in Ascadero, California.
25:07There's a theory that the Las Vegas monolith at least might be a cutting-edge piece of tech.
25:14In 2022 and 2023, around Salt Lake City in Utah, random antennae began showing up all around these deserted parts
25:23of the nearby countryside.
25:24And as it turns out, these high-tech pieces of equipment were actually mining cryptocurrency.
25:30Is this what we're seeing here?
25:32Some kind of cryptocurrency mine operation starting up?
25:36Crypto mining is a process used to verify cryptocurrency transactions by solving complex mathematical puzzles.
25:44Solving those puzzles takes a lot of computing power and can reward miners with new crypto coins.
25:49To help, some folks use specialized antennas.
25:53And rather than placing them in crowded areas where their signals can be obstructed,
25:58they place them in isolated places, like a desert.
26:02Another theory?
26:04Maybe this is a different kind of communication tech.
26:07One that's meant to reach extraterrestrial life.
26:10Over half of the American population believes that somewhere out there, there is intelligent extraterrestrial life.
26:16Could it be that these monoliths are being built by humans for aliens as a sort of signal to the
26:24extraterrestrials out there or a sort of beacon for contact?
26:30Investigators have figured out who built at least one of the monoliths that popped up before this latest discovery.
26:36The one in Atascadero, California was just a sculpture produced by a team of metal artists.
26:42There's no telling who or what built the Las Vegas monolith, at least until we ask our experts.
26:52What did the Las Vegas police learn after discovering the object?
26:57The police came and hauled it off and then they dismantled it to see what was inside of it.
27:03We do know that it was made of rolled sheet metal and that the base itself was rebar and cement.
27:10But I find it very curious why they felt the need to remove it.
27:15What was the issue that it was causing that it couldn't stay there until it fell apart?
27:21Sheet metal, rebar and cement.
27:24Well, there goes the alien tech theory, not to mention the suggestion that this might be a crypto mining antenna.
27:30That requires energy.
27:32In other words, you cannot violate the laws of physics.
27:35The laws of physics would require you to have an energy supply of some sort.
27:39But we see no power supply.
27:41We see no evidence of a battery.
27:44We've taken these things apart and there's nothing high tech to it.
27:50They're just empty, empty boxes in the middle of the desert.
27:54Well, they could still be more than that.
27:56Turns out what we're seeing here is, in fact, a work of art, as were the monoliths that preceded it.
28:03They're very unique.
28:04I think that they are made specifically to invoke a feeling of specialness to the person who's seeing them.
28:13When you look at them, you can see your own reflection.
28:16And I think that's part of why they're made of the materials that they are, that they're meant for inner
28:22reflection in this remote, beautiful location.
28:26But the question of who's behind the Vegas monolith remains a mystery.
28:31I found so many claims that it was impossible for me to work through them.
28:37The claims are all conflicting.
28:38And so I personally don't have any idea who would be responsible.
28:48Our verdict?
28:50Art installation.
28:51We agree with Kathy Strain that this is most likely a work of art.
28:55It remains to be seen whether the monolithic trend continues.
28:59So if you spot one anytime soon, take a moment to reflect, then let us know about it.
29:07We've all heard the old adage, where there's smoke, there's fire.
29:12But in this next story, where there's smoke, there may be an advanced civilization.
29:18Confused?
29:19Let's take a look.
29:21March 19th, 2024, Biloxi, Mississippi.
29:25A man is out on his front yard in the evening when he spots something strange emanating from the ground.
29:31Baffled, he pulls out his camera and records this.
29:36Please tell me what the hell this is.
29:38I don't have a clue, and I don't want to wake up dead in the morning.
29:42A concentrated plume of smoke is spurting out from a hole in his yard.
29:47Let's take another look.
29:49The thick white mist spews out in quick puffs every few seconds
29:53before dissipating into the night, as the man provides key details.
29:58It just keeps coming out the ground and stopping and coming,
30:01kind of like it pulsates a little bit.
30:02But it ain't hot, it ain't cold, it ain't like steam or nothing.
30:06It ain't got no smell to it.
30:07It's just there.
30:09And it's just coming out of this one spot.
30:11I don't know.
30:12Could this video be related to another subterranean event from Biloxi's history?
30:48And essentially, it created a very similar situation where you had a large underground
30:52fire burning and smoke billowing out of the ground.
30:56It should be noted that that fire is still burning to this day and has never been put out.
31:03Another theory points to something out of science fiction.
31:06In 1934, a mining engineer named G. Warren Schufeldt was taken to see a Hopi Indian chief by the name
31:14of Greenleaf,
31:15who essentially told him a story that around 5,000 years ago,
31:20these tunnels and these labyrinths were built by an ancient species of lizard people
31:25who dwelled under what is modern day Los Angeles and lived along the California coast.
31:31To be clear, these lizard people aren't reptilian monsters,
31:35but advanced human beings who allegedly revered lizards and built subterranean strongholds.
31:42Schufeldt even got a permit to dig under the heart of the city and search for these tunnels.
31:48There's no record that he found them,
31:50but speculation about an underground civilization beneath Los Angeles continued
31:54well after his efforts to dig up evidence.
31:57When there's mysterious smoke coming from the ground, it's really hard not to investigate.
32:02And some people believe that this could be proof of a civilization living right below our feet.
32:10G. Warren Schufeldt claimed to have used a radio x-ray machine to locate the rumored tunnels
32:16and even deposits of gold under Los Angeles.
32:19There's no evidence to verify what he supposedly unearthed.
32:23But can we dig up what's happening under this lawn in Biloxi?
32:28Let's ask the experts.
32:33Could even so-called advanced humans survive beneath the Biloxi suburbs?
32:39If there was a large population of people living underneath us,
32:43they would need some sort of food or prey to sustain that population.
32:47And I think at this point we would have picked up on it or seen something of the sort
32:52because they'd probably have to come to the surface to eat.
32:56So that seems to cancel the tunnel theory.
32:59And without tunnels, can there even be a fire?
33:02In order to have a fire, you have to have oxygen.
33:05You have to have a supply of air coming in,
33:08and that would then energize the flames to keep on going.
33:13Here, it's all underground.
33:15If it's a fire of some sort, where is the air coming from?
33:19We don't know.
33:20No one's dug into the ground.
33:22No one's found the source of this.
33:25The man in the video mentioned that the smoke was odorless
33:29and neither hot nor cold.
33:31That also rules out the gasoline theory.
33:34But there might be another source.
33:36Let's say you have gophers that really chew up your backyard
33:39and are real pests.
33:41What can you do?
33:43One possibility is you could put a smoke bomb down there to flush them out.
33:47So is this gopher gas sneaking out through a burrow?
33:51Not quite.
33:53If it was caused by a smoke bomb of some sort,
33:55there could be remnants of a smell.
33:58And there was no smell detected.
34:01So we simply don't have enough data to make a conclusive judgment.
34:05It's very hard to rule out any possibility.
34:12Our verdict, unexplained.
34:15Our analysis is constrained by a lack of hard data.
34:19For now, there's no trace of a fire or a subterranean civilization here.
34:24But we'll keep our ear and nose to the ground.
34:30The ground beneath our feet is home to a menagerie of mysterious creatures.
34:35But the weird life forms in our next story
34:38had people unable to make heads or tails
34:41of what it was they were actually looking at.
34:44In 2024, a mysterious video appeared online
34:49that shows a group of workers from an unknown location
34:52digging several feet down into muddy terrain
34:55and revealing something truly strange
34:57buried under the Earth's surface.
35:01We see what appear to be dozens of strange, hairless creatures
35:05stacked neatly on top of each other in rows.
35:08They sit motionless, small limbs dangling
35:11in what many have described as a burial ground.
35:14However, as the workers keep shoveling,
35:17we suddenly start to see movement.
35:19Many questioned if there may have been some human assistance
35:22in constructing this living tomb.
35:24What's highly unusual about these animals
35:26is that they appear to be stacked in a very symmetrical pattern,
35:31almost the exact same distance apart.
35:33So it seems to imply more of an artificial placement
35:39as opposed to any type of natural formation
35:41that we would expect to see.
35:43But animals will sometimes follow in line
35:46and replicate other behaviors that are being displayed around them.
35:50And this may be what we're looking at here.
35:52These curious critters are also equipped with some recognizable features.
35:57Their small, plump bodies actually remind me of something called tardigrades.
36:02Tardigrades are microscopic animals,
36:04only about a millimeter and a half in length.
36:07And typically they have four sets of legs with little claws attached,
36:12and they've adapted to some of the most extreme environments on Earth.
36:15Is it possible that a gigantic subterranean species of tardigrade may have evolved?
36:22Tardigrades are also called water bears.
36:25And before you dismiss the idea of a new species, consider this.
36:28While the location of this video is still unknown,
36:31online rumors suggest it originates from China,
36:34not far from a recently discovered cave that was home to a bunch of undiscovered species.
36:39So just south of China, in the dense jungles of Vietnam,
36:44a new cave system has been discovered,
36:46and it contains its own unique habitat and biome.
36:50So far, scientists have discovered at least seven new species,
36:53including new types of fish, wood lice, millipedes, spiders and scorpions.
36:59Not only are these types of discoveries emerging from underground,
37:03they're also emerging from deep in the past.
37:05Recently, Canadian scientists actually discovered nematodes or roundworms
37:10in the Siberian permafrost that were still alive after 46,000 years.
37:16Could we be looking at some type of ancient permafrost species
37:20that has been frozen in time?
37:24Regular viewers, and do we love you,
37:27will remember prior mentions of other strange creatures thawed from the permafrost.
37:32The cave lion cub named Sparta, about 28,000 years old, was just one of them.
37:38Could these tiny critters be the next wave of paleolithic babies melting to the surface?
37:44Let's see what our experts think.
37:50Our biologists aren't convinced that this could be some overgrown tardigrade.
37:54Tardigrades actually lack specialized respiratory systems,
37:58which means they rely on diffusion to obtain oxygen.
38:01A larger body size would require a more complex system
38:05to distribute oxygen for them to actually grow.
38:08If it's a no on giant tardigrades,
38:11could these specimens be an undocumented species uncovered by changing climates?
38:16It's not uncommon to hear of situations where the ground starts to defrost
38:20or melt and new species or extinct animals are then found.
38:25But here it doesn't really make sense timeline-wise for that to work out.
38:30These guys are very close to the surface from at least what I can see.
38:34And in the condition they're in right now, they probably wouldn't remain frozen.
38:38We probably would have seen the decaying process start already.
38:41According to our experts, the identity of these creatures becomes clear when isolating their subtle movements.
38:48When you focus on the areas that are moving, you can see the legs, the tail, you can see the
38:55shell overcoming the top of it.
38:58It starts to become clear that we're actually looking at the backside of a soft-shell turtle.
39:04Turtles do have a form of hibernation called brumation where they will bury themselves deep in the mud when it
39:12becomes too cold
39:13and their body temperature will slow down so much that they don't require much energy.
39:20But if that's the case, how can we explain this perfectly formed cluster?
39:24Could turtles really stack themselves like this?
39:27They're not going to be densely packed like this, especially one on top of each other.
39:32You would expect the pattern to be much more haphazard.
39:36It's likely that these harvesters have buried these turtles temporarily to keep them alive,
39:41and now they're re-digging them to sell them, and that's what we're seeing in this video.
39:51Our verdict?
39:52What we're seeing here is not a new or ancient species, but a group of turtles in brumation.
39:58Fun fact.
39:59Brumation is different from hibernation in that animals that hibernate, like bears, are typically fully dormant,
40:07while animals that brumate still wake up periodically to sun themselves and even drink water.
40:13And that's our show for tonight.
40:15Thank you so much for watching, and remember to keep those cameras rolling.
