00:00In a reversal of long-term trends, young people all across Australia, like myself,
00:04have began moving to country towns for new opportunities.
00:07But with that comes risks.
00:09Loneliness, alienation, cultural differences, and more.
00:13Particularly for the large contingent of new arrivals from overseas.
00:16But it's the oldest of old Australian traditions that's helping people integrate.
00:20Sport.
00:20We spoke to two South Asian players at Dubbo's Newtown Cricket Club
00:25to see just how big a difference sport makes on the topic of integration.
00:28Honestly, it's really positive because sport is the kind of thing, you know,
00:32no matter where you're from, it brings all the people together.
00:35And playing against each other with the different people from culture,
00:39from local Australians, and maybe different players from different culture,
00:42it builds positive beliefs and respect toward each other.
00:45And it feels, you know, confident and I think, you know, you feel more confident
00:50and you think like you belong to this community.
00:52Like I had a dream, like when I was a kid, you know, I wanted to play cricket for my
00:55country,
00:56but I didn't get an opportunity.
00:57But when I came to Australia, wherever I went to live, I represented that suburb.
01:03And this is how you become, you know, like you become Australian national.
01:07They respect my religion.
01:09They respect, like today I told them, you know,
01:11I can't push my body a lot because I'm fasting.
01:14And they, even though if I try to run in the field like today,
01:17they said, no, no, don't go run.
01:19Don't run hard, you know, you're fasting.
01:21Don't push yourself hard.
01:23So you feel, you know, like you're in the right place.
01:27Don't get bought.
01:27You know, like you actually talked about, or like, to live in, you know,
01:28when I came to Australia, maybe it's been aprendive.
01:28It's not as bad as I was a man to go in today.
01:28But not as a therapist, I thought beyond that as a therapist,
01:29So I found that a therapist's hair onRY.
01:29So, I started in strategy and think, thank you.
01:29I was going to behy unusual.
