00:00Two teams looking for a playoff run and or wild card run.
00:02It's going to be Milwaukee taking on Kansas City today.
00:05Harrison, the lefty on the mound, going up against Chris Bubich, another lefty.
00:09Overnight, this line sat around a minus 130 favorite for the Kansas City Royals.
00:13Now we're seeing it a little bit less, Craig, that minus 125s in the marketplace
00:17and a total that's listed at 7.5.
00:19Playing this game in Kansas City, not bad temperatures, Craig, right around 60 degrees,
00:23no rain in the forecast, and more of a crosswind from left foul pole to right foul pole today.
00:28Yeah, Garrett Mitchell having a nice start to his season.
00:31Bryce Durang also having a good start.
00:34Donnie, the Brewers are 6-2.
00:36Durang, a crazy number of doubles, four doubles to start already this season.
00:41And by the way, I guess all that World Baseball stuff out the window,
00:44Durang played the World Baseball Classic, seems to be doing just fine in the regular season.
00:48Can we end that discussion as well?
00:50So I kind of like Milwaukee here a little bit.
00:53They just always seem to be in the right spot, and I think the Royals will be better.
00:59The one thing that we haven't really seen yet is this explosion, supposedly, of offense
01:03that was going to happen when the Royals moved in the fences.
01:06But it could just be a matter of early season weather.
01:09Not a strong opinion on this, but I do think Milwaukee is the better of the two teams.
01:14Yeah, look at that 7.5, Craig, as a total.
01:16It means it takes eight runs to beat you if you take the over.
01:18I think this game might settle into more of an under as well.
01:20Two lefties on the mound going up against that.
01:22Hey, just got to see more left-handed pitching as the season goes on.
01:25Bubich last year was sensational, Craig.
01:28477 batters he faced.
01:29How about an iso against combined between lefties and righties at 109 and a weighted
01:33on-base percentage at 283?
01:35He was really good in a K percentage, right around 25%.
01:37Early season, Milwaukee has struggled at times going to get up against lefties.
01:41Guys that have had success there, William Contreras, as well as Gary Sanchez,
01:45even though it's only five at-bats here, and also with Blake Perkins.
01:47If we flip it over to Kansas City, it's early in the season, and yes,
01:50they haven't seen a lot of left-handed pitching.
01:52Most of those guys, 3, 4, 5, maybe 6 at-bats that they've had.
01:56Harrison on the season from last year, Craig, only faced 155 batters, a 156 iso,
02:02which is pretty good, a weighted on-base percentage, about average at 319.
02:05However, if I'm looking at the early season iso numbers, Craig, here for the Kansas City Royals,
02:10outside of Isaac Collins, who has a 429 iso through 7 at-bats against lefties,
02:15everybody else, Craig, listed at a zero here.
02:18I think the ball stays in the ballpark.
02:19Give me that under 7.5 today.
02:22Yeah, I think that's a pretty good call here, and the bullpens are pretty good, too,
02:25on both sides, especially in Milwaukee's.
02:27But, you know, this is where the danger zone comes in the early part of the season, Donnie,
02:31because you really just don't know what you're going to get over the course of the whole year.
02:35And good that Kansas City is getting Collins off to a good start.
02:37They got him back in the lineup.
02:39Seems to be faring pretty well.
02:40But my guess is we'll find a lot better games on the board today to take a look at
02:44and identify, because this is just simply one of those where if the score is going to end up
02:48being 3-2 or 4-3, it could go either way.
02:51By the way, Craig, you look at the season numbers here for Milwaukee,
02:54because in the offseason, it's like, oh, wait, he traded Freddy Peralta.
02:57You only ace away, and now Jacob Mizorowski is going to be that ace.
03:00Can he fill that?
03:01He seems to be doing just fine.
03:02But also spending like $3 in free agency.
03:05Oh, this could be the down step for the Milwaukee Brewers.
03:07To remind you, had the best record in Major League Baseball last year, and here they are.
03:11And it's only a week into the season, nine or eight, eight or nine games into it.
03:14And, Craig, they're still in first place.
03:16It's just what the Brewers do.
03:19It just doesn't matter who they have, it seems like.
03:21It's just so strange, such a well-run organization.
03:24And, you know, it really goes back to a couple of years ago, Donnie, when Craig Council left.
03:29Remember that?
03:29And everyone was like, oh, the Brewers are screwed.
03:31He's the best manager in baseball.
03:32Then they bring in a new guy, not new anymore, Pat Murphy.
03:35He wins manager of the year.
03:36So they're just a factory for pitching, a factory for extensions, getting their young
03:41guys done.
03:43And as I mentioned, when you look at the leaderboards for total bases of the season, and you see
03:48a star in Bryce Terang, who I think is becoming a superstar this season in the top five of that,
03:54second, I believe, in the National League in total bases.
03:57I mean, again, think about that, Donnie.
04:00If I told you three years ago, two years ago, how that Brewers are going to get it done,
04:02with a guy named Bryce Terang, you would have said, who, what, where?
04:06Incredible farm system, great development, too.
