00:00including tonight's National League battle between the Brewers and the Padres.
00:06So Petco Park, here we come.
00:09You will be hell-bent finding anybody that's not betting the Padres tonight
00:15because we're at that point in the season where they're not getting swept,
00:21except that Pavetta goes two innings and you have Robbie Ray or Walker Bueller
00:26have to come into the game, and then things are going to become problematic here
00:30for the Padres, who, again, nice half a season after the All-Star break,
00:37but the reality is the best team in baseball from day one has been the Milwaukee Brewers,
00:43which is why they won over 100 games, and they can beat you in multiple ways.
00:49I think, Dusty May, you and I talked about this.
00:52We thought this might have been the best trade at the deadline
00:55and one of the most savvy because how the Cardinals even got anything in return for him
01:01is kind of crazy, but the reality is he's a ground ball pitcher, Petco Park.
01:07He's the right guy.
01:09This could turn out to be maybe the greatest trade we've ever seen
01:12at the trade deadline here if he goes out and hangs out.
01:16But even if he gets into trouble, Craig,
01:18the arms that the Brewers have literally tonight to throw at this,
01:24whether it's Gasser or Drohan or even Kyle Harrison, Chad Patrick,
01:28they could literally change a pitcher every at-bat for these guys here tonight.
01:33It is not a good setup here for Pavetta and the Padres at all.
01:39No, but it does give the Padres some hope.
01:43Like, this is the one game that...
01:45Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
01:45Yeah, this is the one game you look at of the five
01:49and say Milwaukee is basically saying,
01:52okay, we got our two games.
01:54We just need one more.
01:56We can play a little bit here and throw Dusty May for two,
02:00maybe three innings, and then turn it over to the bullpen,
02:03and if it doesn't work out, we could go back to our horses in game four,
02:07or I'm sorry, yes, game four or even game five.
02:10That's nothing against Dustin May, but May, I don't believe,
02:14maybe I'll be wrong, I don't believe he's going to be allowed Joe
02:17to go three times through the lineup.
02:18So whenever that occurs, I think they'll pull him out of the game.
02:22So, you know, total outs tonight, I would probably go under on him.
02:25I don't know what it is.
02:26Maybe it's 14 and a half, 14, somewhere.
02:29I'm guessing, by the way, I don't have that in front of me.
02:32But that would be a likely under for me because I think all those names
02:36that you mentioned, they would go to that bullpen.
02:39And I do give the Padres a shot tonight.
02:41I do.
02:42I kind of like them tonight.
02:43I think the series will continue.
02:46Inevitably, I don't know.
02:47We're going to find out a lot about that team because after you lose like that
02:51with Mason Miller, how do you come back and try and win the next game?
02:53It's got to be extremely tough.
02:55But, Joe, this is the game the Padres have to point to and say,
02:58hey, look, if we were tied at one, I don't know that May is going tonight.
03:03I'm not sure that he is.
03:04Maybe.
03:05Maybe not.
03:05But the Brewers can afford to do this tonight.
03:08They can afford to throw him.
03:09He's the perfect guy, as you mentioned, to throw against this team,
03:12to throw in that ballpark.
03:13Yes.
03:14But by far, the most unpredictable pitcher on the Brewer staff going into the postseason.
03:21But, again, the arms and the shot, what they have with the guys that haven't even pitched yet,
03:27is kind of crazy.
03:29Matchups be dead.
03:30They can throw whatever they want there.
03:32The first two games, as great as they were, have just set up perfectly for the Brewers here.
03:39If Pavetta does what he did against the Cubs, the Padres are done.
03:44If you have to go two and two-thirds innings, think about the amount of arms that they have had
03:50to burn
03:51in the first two games here, Craig.
03:53What are you going to bring in?
03:55Joe Musgrove?
03:56David Morgan?
03:58You already had Matsui and Rodriguez work back-to-back games in one and two.
04:03Miller threw 40 pitchers in that last game.
04:07You know, Morzon threw 31 in the first.
04:09You got Walker Bueller, Robbie.
04:12I mean, the options, if Pavetta can't give you four or five innings, and by the way,
04:17Pavetta is out prop, 10-1⁄2.
04:19Dusty Mays, 8-1⁄2.
04:21Oh, 8-1⁄2.
04:23Wow.
04:248-1⁄2.
04:25That's not even three innings.
04:27They can go righty-left.
04:29They can go match up all game long.
04:32That's the whole thing with the Brewers.
04:33They've got guys lefty and righty.
04:35What do you want to bat?
04:37They're going to run out of matchups.
04:39That's the problem, the Padres.
04:41They need Pavetta to go some sort of distance here.
04:45If they don't, I don't.
04:47It's advantage Milwaukee the whole way through.
04:51And look, Pavetta's been pretty good.
04:53So, I think he'll be okay tonight.
04:55I think, you know.
04:56Wasn't good against the Cubs.
04:58What is, what did you say his out prop was tonight?
05:0210-1⁄2.
05:0410-1⁄2?
05:05I mean, that's not even four innings for him.
05:07That's what I'm saying.
05:08Those numbers are crazy.
05:1010-1⁄2.
