00:03Hi I'm Marie Claire UK, my name is Rosie and I'm a nutritionist here at Jamie Oliver HQ and we're
00:08going to chat to you today about protein. Here in the UK we are on average eating roughly 30%
00:14more protein versus recommendations and whilst protein is super important for things like growth
00:19and repair there are adverse health outcomes to having too much. The one thing that we can all
00:24benefit from is variety. We know that plant-based proteins like beans and pulses and oily fish
00:30which contains essential omega-3 fatty acids is beneficial for health compared to diets that are
00:35high in red and processed meat and they're also better for the planet. So whilst protein requirements
00:40do vary and some of us may need more for example athletes or those recovering from injury or illness
