00:00Tell me what stands out to you when you handicap Michigan and Arizona.
00:06Honestly, it's the evenness of this matchup, Kevin.
00:09I think you're making a great case.
00:13No disrespect to Duke, but if you look at not just the performance of these teams
00:19that they played during the regular season, but in the case of the Big Ten,
00:23how they performed in the NCAA tournament, you could also say this is the top team
00:28from the two top leagues in regards to the totality of their seasons, right?
00:34So neither one of them have ducked anybody.
00:37And with all due respect to Duke, you know, except for that win that they had
00:41over Michigan and D.C., what are we going to go on?
00:45One Carolina game, a Virginia team that we think may have been overrated?
00:50So I think that's the thing that I take away first off is these teams are battle,
00:59tested, and that is something to say about them.
01:01And then when you look at the matchup, and you're like, you're absolutely right.
01:05So you guys notice that we talk about it every week.
01:09Kevin and I, without talking to each other, we use Ketpop.
01:12I love Ketpop because I think Ketpop is a white company.
01:16You can just, you can go apples to apples, right?
01:19And then you start breaking down this game.
01:21You're like, all right, so what do we have here?
01:24I don't know, just the number one and number two teams in defensive efficiency.
01:28Yikes.
01:29All right.
01:29Nobody's going to score in this game.
01:31All right.
01:31Well, now we have the number four and number five team in offensive efficiency.
01:35Well, wait a minute.
01:35Maybe no one can get a stop.
01:37Oh, wait a minute.
01:38These two teams are both top 10 in effective field goal percentage defense.
01:42Okay.
01:43So no one can make a shot.
01:44But they're both top 30 or top 40 in effective field goal percentage offense.
01:49They don't turn the ball over.
01:51They secure rebounds.
01:52They make their free throws.
01:54They hit threes.
01:55They hit twos.
01:56They defend threes.
01:58They defend twos.
01:59And it's literally, this is the ultimate coin flip.
02:04And Kev, I don't know where you're landing.
02:07I am all over the place in regards to how to break this game down.
02:13Because there's so many compelling storylines.
02:17And no matter Kev, which direction you go, it's basically even between the two teams.
02:23It's so fun.
02:25It also is a moment to appreciate how good these teams are.
02:33Because, so Michigan, right, you know, is obviously an elite defense.
02:38So you go, all right.
02:38How have they fared against other elite defenses when they were playing, you know, in Big Ten basketball?
02:44Nebraska is the only other top 10 defense in the Big Ten.
02:47And that's it.
02:48And now they're playing Arizona.
02:50Yeah, all right, man.
02:51You know what?
02:52Arizona's probably seen a bunch of offenses like this.
02:55No, they haven't.
02:56Arizona is the only top 10 offense in the Big 12.
02:58The only one.
03:00BYU was next, 11th.
03:02Does anyone think BYU offensively presents the challenges that Michigan does?
03:06I don't.
03:07What stood out to me, JY, though, in breaking this game down, is two things that Arizona, on the offensive
03:15side of the ball, are elite at.
03:18That they, you know, nine out of ten times will be able to rely on.
03:25Offensive rebounds, getting to the free throw line.
03:29I'm not so sure that's just going to be here at will.
03:33Now, Michigan has a super elite rim protector, an Ademara, and they've got size everywhere you look.
03:42And their ability to close out possessions and defend without fouling, to me, are the key in this game.
03:50I think the total is so difficult because both of these teams play with pace.
03:58So, I think both these teams could have off nights and we fly through the number.
04:02Goodness me, if we have these teams hot.
04:05I mean, this might look like an NBA game, which we would love to see break out.
04:10And that could be a lot of fun.
04:13But I entered this game feeling like Michigan was the best team in college basketball.
04:18I entered this tournament feeling like Michigan was really the best team in college basketball.
04:23Nothing has really changed for me, JY, when I break this game down.
04:28I'm on the Wolverines here.
04:30I think they have enough everywhere.
