00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says Malaysia may need to review its economic growth forecasts
00:06and major national projects should the Middle East conflict, which is now in its fifth week,
00:12persist. In a Haryan Metro report, Anwar noted that the global energy crisis is directly affecting
00:18the country's economic position, making fresh economic assessments necessary if the situation
00:24continues. He said the National Economic Action Council and a special committee chaired by former
00:31patronized president and CEO Hassan Marikan are assisting his office and all ministers are also
00:38working extremely hard to stabilize the situation. Last month, BNM said it was projecting a 4-5%
00:46gross domestic product growth in 2026, despite the ongoing Iran war, which has resulted in a surge
00:53in crude oil prices and an energy crisis in some countries. The numbers are a slightly upward
01:00revision of the government's initial forecast of a 4-4.5% GDP growth this year.
