00:00Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia next week is expected to enhance bilateral ties and trade between the two countries.
00:10Communications Minister Fahmy Fazil said China remained a key trading partner for the country and that with Malaysia currently chairing ASEAN, there would be much to discuss during their engagements.
00:22He said Xi's visit, scheduled from April 15 to 17, would focus on economic cooperation and strengthening ties between the people of both countries.
00:32Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the hardened stance of the US towards China could have significant ramifications for Malaysia's economy and its position within ASEAN centrality.
00:44Investment Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafil Aziz told CNBC Today that all ASEAN leaders had agreed to attend a special US-ASEAN summit in response to US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
00:56On Wednesday, Trump said he would delay the tariffs for 90 days.
01:00However, he said a basic levy of 10% on dozens of countries would remain and that he would raise the tariff on China from 104% to 125%.
