00:00Tonight, on The Proof Is Out There, Alien Edition.
00:04A possible UFO, a passenger jet, and a near miss over New York City.
00:09What really happened in the sky?
00:11When I looked back, there was something in there.
00:13I definitely did see something.
00:15At 30,000 feet, a pilot reports a strange encounter.
00:18What did he see when the instruments showed nothing at all?
00:22Nothing was seen on radar.
00:24It would move, and then it would go out.
00:26And over China, another pilot records a UAP no one can explain.
00:31I don't know what that is.
00:33That is some weird s**t.
00:35These orbs seem to be blinking in some kind of pattern or signal.
00:40With UFO reports at an all-time high,
00:44we're examining the most compelling evidence caught on camera.
00:47Tonight's focus, pilot and passenger encounters.
00:51Our experts will analyze the evidence and then pass a verdict.
00:55I can't tell you what this is.
00:57So, categorically, it's a UFO.
00:59That these things can and absolutely will be an air safety issue.
01:04The Proof starts now.
01:13Good evening and welcome to The Proof Is Out There.
01:16Due to ongoing tensions with its neighbor, India,
01:20Pakistan is highly sensitive about anomalous incidents in its airspace.
01:25So, when a team of Pakistani commercial pilots
01:27spotted a mysterious object outside their window,
01:31they took notice and took out a camera.
01:34January 23rd, 2021.
01:37A Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320
01:41is on a routine flight from Lahore to Karachi
01:44when suddenly, the pilots notice a bright ball in the sky
01:48over the city of Rahim Yarkand.
01:55At first, the object appears to glow and pulsate.
02:00But that's because the camera is trying to focus on it.
02:03Slowing down, the video shows the object appears to be a solid white orb.
02:09Excitement grows as they struggle with a smartphone
02:11to zoom in and hold the object in frame.
02:16This isn't the first time pilots have reported
02:19strange or black objects over Pakistan's skies.
02:23In January of 2019, a report was filed
02:26that the crew on a flight from Karachi to Sikur
02:28saw an object floating about 105 feet above their aircraft.
02:33The object they saw wasn't bright.
02:36It was kind of oval shaped.
02:38The incident was immediately reported
02:40to air traffic control in Karachi.
02:42But the details of the sighting
02:43were never released to the public.
02:46Keep making the video. Keep making the video.
02:50For decades, commercial and military pilots
02:53faced scorn and ridicule for reporting UFO sightings,
02:57which could have resulted in a loss of critical information.
03:01Our team of experts is about to give
03:03this Pakistani airline crew's footage
03:06the attention it deserves.
03:13We don't see rotors.
03:15We don't see a jet engine.
03:18We don't see anything that would propel it.
03:20We don't see control surfaces, that type of thing.
03:23And so it's not a plane or a helicopter.
03:26These experienced commercial pilots
03:29had no idea what they were seeing.
03:32Could that be because it's something not of this world?
03:36We know that from the Pentagon
03:38and their official UAP investigative office,
03:42that the spear or round shape
03:45are the most commonly reported UFOs that they have.
03:48So, you know, this shape of UFO is very consistent.
03:52But McMillan also notes,
03:54if it's a UFO, it's certainly not acting like one.
03:57Typically, when you're thinking of UFO,
03:59you're talking about sightings of objects
04:02that perform in ways that we can't comport
04:05with any known technology.
04:07So is there anything in this video that I see
04:10that would tell me that it requires an explanation
04:13for it being alien?
04:14No.
04:16Instead, McMillan believes the orb-like shape
04:18of this object isn't that unusual to find in the sky.
04:21And he disagrees with one of the pilots on board.
04:24It's an art of balloon.
04:25The round spear shape is not an aerodynamic shape.
04:29So it's something that is having to maintain altitude
04:33by lighter-than-air gases.
04:35And for me, the only type of airborne object
04:38that it would be consistent with would be a balloon.
04:40So is there a clue to the kind of balloon it is?
04:44This might be a Pakistani version
04:46of a Chinese spy balloon.
04:48If so, that payload would be hanging
04:51directly beneath the balloon, lost in the glare.
04:53You'd never see it.
04:54Because those payloads are closer to the balloon.
04:56They're not hanging way down below
04:58like many aerial weather balloons have hanging from them.
05:02But proving it?
05:03McMillan admits, for now, the full evidence isn't there.
05:07It certainly has all the appearance and shape of a balloon.
05:11And so what type of balloon it could be
05:13could be anybody's guess.
05:19Our verdict?
05:20McMillan is leaning balloon.
05:22But the pilot himself insists that's not what this was.
05:26For now, to be safe, we're going with unidentified object.
05:30The frantic camera work just doesn't give us
05:32a clear enough image to be definitive.
05:34A rep from the airline claims
05:36they don't know what the object was either.
05:39But they won't be launching their own investigation.
05:44What do Pakistan, New Mexico, and Colombia have in common?
05:49If you're a regular viewer,
05:51you know that they're all locations
05:53where strange flying objects have been caught on camera
05:55by professional pilots.
05:58August 9th, 2022, the Pacific Ocean.
06:01Commercial airline pilot Chris Van Voorhis
06:03is about 90 minutes into a flight
06:05from Honolulu to Los Angeles
06:07when nearby pilot chatter calls his attention
06:09to an anomaly in the sky.
06:11At this point in time, when we started looking outside,
06:14we were able to pick up the anomaly
06:16that they were talking about.
06:17Through the cockpit window,
06:19Chris records a bright orb appearing to the northwest
06:22just below the Big Dipper.
06:24Okay, there it is.
06:25Let's slow it down and take a closer look.
06:28The light moves around a bit
06:30before quickly disappearing.
06:32Dang it, went away.
06:34Chris continues recording for more than two minutes
06:36as the light intermittently disappears and reappears.
06:44We were rather awed by it
06:46and dismayed at the same time.
06:48Nothing was seen on radar.
06:50It would move, and then it would go out.
06:52Now, sometimes this is indicative of a satellite,
06:56and usually we'd see satellites
06:58during either sunset or sunrise,
07:00and it would be reflecting the sun
07:02from their solar arrays.
07:03But this wasn't directly after sunset or sunrise.
07:07But this sighting is far from a first
07:09for either Chris or his fellow pilots.
07:12I've seen quite a bit up there,
07:13and I know quite a few pilots
07:15that have seen these orbs or anomalies,
07:17maybe up to 50%.
07:18Chris's video appeared in national news coverage
07:22on the growing topic of pilot encounters.
07:24This is not unique.
07:26There's videos captured like this all the time.
07:29Needless to say,
07:30it's always a bad combination
07:32to have a commercial airline
07:34flying in the vicinity of an unknown object.
07:38That is an air safety issue.
07:39In fact, pilots overseas
07:42are facing similar safety concerns.
07:44There's also reports by pilots
07:47in European countries of these strange lights.
07:50One sighting wasn't on the pilot's radar,
07:52and Air Traffic Control, or ATC,
07:56also did not report the incident.
07:58And these sightings can leave a lasting impression.
08:01This has changed my beliefs tremendously.
08:04It's opened my mind to the possibilities
08:07of everything from interdimensional travel
08:10and portals and time travel
08:12and extraterrestrials.
08:17One of the more prominent pilot whistleblowers
08:20is Ryan Graves,
08:21the first active-duty U.S. Navy aviator,
08:24to go public about regular UAP sightings.
08:27He testified about his own encounter
08:29to Congress in 2023.
08:31So did Chris see one, too?
08:34Our experts review the data.
08:40Is this just a case of mistaken identity?
08:43We first ask if this ball of light
08:45could be natural,
08:46like a meteor or fireball.
08:48A fireball is a very fast-moving object.
08:51It looks like an object
08:53that is leaving some sort of, like,
08:54a small trail in the video that we see here.
08:57We don't see trails.
08:58So perhaps this light is emitting
09:01from a man-made craft,
09:03like the afterburners found at the rear of a jet.
09:05Like Chris, we don't see it.
09:08When a fighter jet is using afterburners,
09:10it's the equivalent of just slamming your foot
09:13on the gas in a car.
09:15And so you wouldn't see afterburners
09:17just burning consistently over any length of time
09:20because the act of putting your foot on the gas
09:23burns a lot of fuel.
09:25Okay, well, this is the middle of the Pacific.
09:27Could it be some secret military technology
09:30we were never meant to see?
09:32It is in this weird corridor in the Pacific
09:35between California and Hawaii
09:37that is frequently used by the government
09:39for various testing.
09:41In fact, the nearby Pacific Missile Range Facility
09:44is the largest range of its kind
09:47and is known to test advanced technology systems.
09:49So it's not totally out of the question,
09:52but normally that's done in a very controlled setting
09:55where it wouldn't be visible to the public.
09:58So while possible,
09:59the fact that Chris and other commercial pilots
10:01were allowed to fly here
10:02makes secret tech unlikely.
10:05Then could it be a genuine UFO?
10:07I don't see any characteristics
10:09that are unusual or anomalous,
10:11but at the same time,
10:13I can't tell you what this is.
10:15So categorically, it's a UFO.
10:18And if you add into the mix the eyewitness testimony,
10:22maybe this is more unusual
10:23than the video gives it credit.
10:29Our verdict, genuine UFO.
10:32If you're a commercial pilot
10:34or a veteran who wants to report a sighting,
10:37Ryan Graves' nonprofit,
10:38Americans for Safe Aerospace, can help.
10:41The organization provides a secure system
10:43to collect information through its witness program.
10:46And while you're at it,
10:48you may as well let us know too.
10:52Let's talk about air travel.
10:54The procedure typically involves baggage check,
10:57security, boarding, takeoff,
10:59and UFO sighting.
11:01March 25th, 2024.
11:03It's a beautiful day above New York City.
11:05Michelle Reyes is on a commercial airline
11:08preparing for landing at LaGuardia Airport.
11:11Michelle pulls out her phone
11:12to record the skyline out her window.
11:15But Michelle's shot is interrupted
11:16by something speeding by.
11:19Let's play that back in slow motion.
11:22A black, oblong object enters frame right,
11:26just above the horizon.
11:28The object appears to be tilted slightly forward.
11:31In less than a second,
11:32it exits frame left,
11:34leaving Michelle unsure if she saw anything at all.
11:37Until she watches that video back.
11:39When I looked back,
11:41there was something in there.
11:42So I was like,
11:43all right, I'm not going crazy.
11:44I definitely did see something.
11:45I posted it online.
11:47Just to see if someone can say like,
11:49hey, this is not out of the ordinary
11:50and we see this all the time.
11:52I was just really curious.
11:54Many online share Michelle's curiosity,
11:56so much so that her video is picked up
11:59by multiple national news outlets.
12:01Across the country,
12:03people are perplexed by Michelle's sighting,
12:05and it's not hard to see why.
12:07There's been a lot of reports
12:09of these larger cylinder-shaped
12:11or cigar-shaped craft.
12:13So people looking at this
12:14and saying they see a cylindrical UFO,
12:17I can certainly understand why they would see that.
12:19In fact, these cylindrical UFOs
12:21have crossed paths with commercial aircraft
12:23in recent years.
12:25There was an incident in 2021
12:26with an American Airlines pilot
12:28flying to Phoenix, Arizona,
12:30reported over New Mexico
12:32seeing a large cylindrical object
12:34fly directly over his own aircraft.
12:37We just had something go right over the top of us
12:39that, I hate to say,
12:41this looked like a long cylindrical object.
12:43But these near misses
12:45didn't just start in the last few years.
12:47They actually go back almost as far
12:49as the modern UFO age as we know it.
12:52In 1948, two commercial pilots
12:55were flying over Alabama
12:56in the early morning hours
12:58when they saw a wingless cylindrical craft
13:01speeding toward their plane.
13:03The pilots veered to the side,
13:04dodging a near collision.
13:06What's worrisome is that these near misses
13:09seem to be getting more frequent
13:10as the years go on.
13:12Long Island-based researchers
13:13Jerry and John Tedesco
13:15have seen it themselves,
13:16not far from where Michelle Reyes
13:18recorded her sighting.
13:19It was October of 23,
13:21early morning,
13:22and I was just videotaping flight traffic
13:24in and out of the airport.
13:25And on the extreme zoom,
13:27I saw an airliner making its rotation
13:29to come into JFK,
13:31and I saw this object
13:32passing the path of the airliner.
13:34The cylinder-shaped object
13:36seemed to be showing up
13:37quite often in these reports.
13:38So it's consistent.
13:39It's a persistent pattern.
13:40It's definitely going to be taken seriously.
13:43That's because if objects like these
13:45are sharing the skies
13:46with civilian aircraft,
13:47it's a problem.
13:48The greatest concern here
13:50is that air traffic control
13:52didn't see this
13:53and didn't report it.
13:54that is proof positive
13:55that these things
13:55can and absolutely will be
13:58an air safety issue
13:59if we don't do something about it.
14:04In 2023,
14:05a New York Times investigation
14:07found that near misses
14:08involving commercial aircraft
14:10were happening multiple times a week
14:12nationwide.
14:13Will our investigation reveal
14:15another kind of safety threat
14:17in our skies?
14:21Could this indeed be
14:23a cylindrical UFO
14:24crossing paths
14:25with this commercial plane?
14:27Well,
14:28while from the side
14:29it might look like a cylinder,
14:31it might be something else entirely.
14:33When you do closer analysis,
14:34you can actually see
14:35that there's something
14:36kind of spinning.
14:37So it could be
14:38just a large disk.
14:40Still sound like aliens?
14:41Not so fast.
14:42In 2019,
14:44Romanian engineers
14:45successfully built
14:46their own flying saucer
14:47called the
14:48All-Directional Flying Object,
14:50or a defo.
14:51In other words,
14:52a disk-shaped drone.
14:54But wouldn't something like that
14:55have been noticed?
14:56The pilots would have been able
14:58to see it coming by
14:59and explain it.
15:00Air traffic control
15:01would have picked it up.
15:02This was not picked up
15:03by any radar system.
15:04So is this just something
15:06ordinary captured in a way
15:07that makes it look
15:08extraordinary?
15:09You've got the aircraft
15:11going north,
15:12the wind coming
15:13from the opposite direction,
15:14which is really meaning
15:15that this is going
15:15maybe wind speed.
15:17So you have the aircraft
15:18and then the wind speed
15:19carrying it aloft
15:20creates this effect
15:22where it's zooming by.
15:23I think that it's more
15:24like a party balloon.
15:26Specifically,
15:27we're thinking of those
15:28number-shaped balloons
15:29that people usually get
15:30to denote their age.
15:32The theory is
15:33one of those numeric balloons
15:34may have gone astray.
15:36I think it's a zero.
15:37At the beginning of the clip,
15:39top right-hand corner,
15:40there is the aircraft's wing.
15:43So what you're able to see
15:44is that this object
15:45is just beyond.
15:47And so the size matches.
15:49The winds were moving along
15:51in such a way
15:52that it's potentially coming
15:54from Staten Island.
15:55Everything matches up
15:56in terms of it being
15:57a zero balloon.
16:00And she happened to see it
16:02as they were going by.
16:07Our verdict?
16:09Party balloon.
16:11See how this zero-shaped balloon
16:13looks turned on its side?
16:15That's what we think Michelle saw
16:17when she looked out
16:18her plane window.
16:19It's amazing
16:21what a change of perspective
16:22can do.
16:24For millennia,
16:26Turkey has been a bridge
16:27between cultures,
16:28a crossroads
16:29between Europe and Asia.
16:31But as you're about to see,
16:32it might also have been
16:34the meeting point
16:35between human civilization
16:36and extraterrestrial life.
16:40It's May 13, 2009,
16:43and night owl Yolcin Yalman
16:45is stargazing in the suburbs
16:46of Istanbul, Turkey.
16:48Shortly after 3 a.m.,
16:50something strange appears
16:51in the sky over the sea of Marmara.
16:53Yolcin immediately grabs
16:54his Canon Mini-DV camera,
16:56a videotape,
16:57and records this.
16:59It appears to be
17:00some sort of saucer-shaped craft.
17:02It's hovering silently
17:03for half an hour
17:04about a mile away
17:05and 500 feet above the sea.
17:07But watch what happens
17:08when Yolcin zooms in.
17:10Do you see that?
17:12Now, take a look
17:13at the footage
17:13when we zoomed in
17:14and cleaned it up for you
17:15to get a better look.
17:17Yolcin says
17:18that what you're seeing here
17:19is a cockpit window.
17:21And there,
17:22inside the alleged craft,
17:23he's saying
17:24you can see two aliens
17:25piloting this thing
17:26right here
17:27and right here.
17:30Yolcin is sure
17:31he's made contact.
17:32In fact,
17:33he claims
17:33it's been happening
17:34for years.
17:52For millennia,
17:53strange things have been reported
17:55in the skies over Turkey.
17:56In 74 BC,
17:58during a battle
17:58between Greek and Roman armies,
18:00thousands of soldiers
18:01witnessed a flaming object
18:02of molten silver,
18:04shaped like a wine jar
18:05flying above them.
18:07In 2016,
18:09Turkish air pilots
18:10reported that they saw
18:11a UFO go over their plane
18:13with green lights.
18:14The pilots say
18:15they saw this UFO
18:16about 17,000 feet,
18:18but the airport authorities
18:20reported that
18:20they had no evidence
18:21on their radar
18:22of any of the sightings
18:23that the pilots saw.
18:24Now, we've never seen
18:25a window on a UFO before.
18:27Yolcin's cockpit aliens
18:29appear to be
18:29a unique phenomenon
18:30and one
18:31the Turkish government
18:32has taken very seriously.
18:34The Turkish government
18:35came back and said
18:36that this is authentic
18:36and this spacecraft
18:38has nothing to do
18:39with any military programs
18:41or anything.
18:41So this could be
18:42extraterrestrial.
18:45UFOs are such a hot topic
18:46in Turkey
18:47that in 2001,
18:48a museum opened
18:49in Istanbul
18:50containing various photos,
18:52videos,
18:53reports,
18:54models,
18:54and even a library
18:56about UFOs
18:58and extraterrestrial life.
18:59But are we ready
19:01to add this video
19:02to the collection?
19:03Our experts
19:04take a deeper dive
19:05into the footage.
19:10We always look
19:11to the metadata first
19:12and this block-like
19:14pixelation,
19:15this is an indication
19:15that excessive amounts
19:17of compression
19:18were applied
19:18to these pixel areas,
19:20but I don't detect
19:20any evidence
19:21of this program
19:22interacting with
19:23something that would
19:24introduce CGI.
19:25There's no indication
19:26that they were trying
19:27to deceive or mislead.
19:29So if it doesn't appear
19:30we have a doctored video,
19:31has Yalcin really
19:32been dealing with aliens?
19:33Back in 2009,
19:34we didn't have
19:35the cameras we have today.
19:36He's zooming in on it
19:37all the way.
19:38And in my view,
19:39I don't think
19:40that you're gonna be able
19:42to see anybody
19:43in a craft like that.
19:45Turkey is a NATO member
19:46and has the second-largest army
19:48in the organization.
19:49So is it possible
19:50this could be
19:51an experimental aircraft?
19:52This is a particular area
19:53where you do have
19:55military drills.
19:56And in fact,
19:57NATO holds different
19:58annual drills
19:59that are simulating
20:00wartime environments.
20:02However,
20:02all of the telltale signs
20:04of aircraft as we know them
20:06are really kind of
20:07thrown out of the window.
20:08We definitely don't have
20:10any aircraft that are
20:11lenticular or saucer-shaped.
20:14Beyond that,
20:15if it's gonna be an aircraft,
20:16you're gonna hear something,
20:17whether it's the jet engines
20:18of a plane
20:18or that rotor thunder
20:20of a helicopter.
20:22And in this case,
20:23the individual said
20:24that he didn't hear anything
20:25while filming it.
20:26So what else could this be?
20:28It's a case that's been around
20:30for a long time.
20:31That doesn't mean it's true.
20:32It just means
20:33it's not solved yet.
20:38Our verdict?
20:40We're going to classify it
20:41as a genuine UFO.
20:42Our experts make good points.
20:45And we'll agree
20:46that those images
20:47in the windows
20:48probably aren't
20:49alien space pilots.
20:50But that doesn't mean
20:51we can identify
20:52what this thing actually is
20:54until we get
20:55more definitive evidence.
20:59The U.S. military
21:00has had some
21:01now-famous encounters
21:02with UFOs
21:03in recent years,
21:04but it may not be alone.
21:06Back in the final years
21:07of the Cold War,
21:09an encounter in the skies
21:10over the low countries
21:11of Northwestern Europe
21:12prompted a robust
21:14military response.
21:16That sparked a controversy
21:17over what really happened,
21:19which continues to this day.
21:22It's March 1990
21:24over the Belgian countryside.
21:27Two F-16s are deployed
21:29by the Belgian Air Force
21:30after radar spots
21:32an ominous object
21:33hovering in the air.
21:34They see this.
21:36You're looking at
21:37an actual recording
21:38of what was on their flight radar
21:40lock-on.
21:41In the center of the screen,
21:43at an altitude of 7,000 feet,
21:45is a diamond-shaped blip.
21:47This blip indicates
21:48there's something solid
21:49in the sky,
21:50though it doesn't necessarily
21:51represent what this solid object
21:53actually looks like.
21:54The radar's altimeter,
21:56measuring in thousands,
21:57indicates the odd object
21:59races thousands of feet higher,
22:00then plummets back down again
22:02at breakneck speed.
22:03And it seems to accelerate
22:05to 990 knots
22:07or more than 1,000 miles per hour
22:09before bolting out of range.
22:11The pilots never make
22:13visual contact,
22:14but back on the ground,
22:16one resident of Brussels
22:17claims to capture
22:18this footage of three lights
22:19in a triangular pattern
22:21passing overhead.
22:22This video was shot
22:23in March of 1990
22:25over Belgium
22:26on the same night
22:27of the radar sighting.
22:28A few months later,
22:30Belgian Air Force Colonel
22:32Wilfred de Brouwer
22:33holds a press conference
22:34about the incident.
22:35What these pilots detected
22:37was well outside
22:40the normal flying envelope
22:42of an airplane.
22:43Sometimes it had speeds
22:45between 150 knots
22:47till 990 knots,
22:49an acceleration
22:50which occurred
22:51in a few seconds.
22:53These speeds would be
22:54impossible to tolerate
22:56for a human being.
22:58And there's another layer
23:00to this story.
23:01This wasn't the first
23:02Belgian sighting.
23:04There'd been a string
23:05of strange encounters
23:06just months before.
23:08It starts in November
23:09of 1989.
23:11Multiple reports
23:12start coming in
23:13of seeing three lights
23:15in the sky.
23:17During that first wave
23:18of sightings,
23:19no less than 30 different
23:21groups of witnesses
23:22described seeing
23:23three bright lights
23:25up in the sky.
23:26What they see
23:27is that these aren't
23:28three distinct lights,
23:29but rather three points
23:31of light on one
23:32very large
23:33triangular-shaped object.
23:35The witnesses claim
23:36to have seen
23:37the object slowly glide
23:38at low altitude
23:39northeast across
23:40the Belgian landscape
23:42from the town
23:42of Liège
23:43to the border
23:44with the Netherlands
23:45and Germany.
23:46More than half a dozen
23:47police officers
23:47working that evening
23:48also spotted
23:49the mystery aircraft.
23:50But it wasn't
23:51until months later
23:52when the Air Force
23:53picked up that strange
23:54UFO on radar
23:55and this footage
23:56was captured
23:57that they seemingly
23:58had proof
23:59that this was
23:59a technologically
24:00amazing craft.
24:02There was nothing
24:04that existed
24:04that could outperform
24:06this F-16 aircraft.
24:07But the pilot says
24:09that as he's pursuing
24:11this object,
24:11the object makes
24:12essentially a quick turn
24:14and deviates
24:15off his radar system
24:16and he loses it.
24:20In total,
24:21this Belgian triangle
24:22was seen by more
24:23than 1,000 witnesses
24:24over these several months.
24:26With so many viewers
24:28and the military involved,
24:30could this be the real deal?
24:32Our experts try
24:33to identify both
24:34the object on radar
24:35and the one
24:35that was filmed.
24:36Are they one and the same?
24:38If so,
24:39what could it be?
24:46The important thing here
24:47is to notice
24:48that there are
24:49three objects in the view
24:50and the objects
24:51don't get any closer
24:53to each other
24:53or move apart
24:54from each other.
24:55They stay near each other
24:56almost as if
24:57they're connected
24:58in some way
24:59through a structure.
25:00So we're probably looking
25:02at a cohesive,
25:04singular object
25:04that has lights on it.
25:07So could this be
25:08a real triangular UFO?
25:10I can never pronounce
25:11that this is real.
25:12There's no data
25:13indicating that it is.
25:14I can only say
25:16that it's compelling.
25:17From my point of view,
25:18the jury is still out.
25:21So does that make it a hoax?
25:22No.
25:23Does it make it real?
25:24No.
25:26But it doesn't take away
25:28from the fact
25:28that this footage exists
25:30of an F-16
25:31fighting falcon
25:33tracking an object
25:34on its radar.
25:36Sources say
25:37the ground footage
25:38was filmed
25:38at around 2.20 a.m.,
25:40about two hours
25:41after the F-16
25:42spotted something
25:43on their radar.
25:44So could these two incidents
25:45be connected?
25:46And what would that mean?
25:47What this radar screen
25:49is telling us
25:49is that essentially
25:51this object
25:52descended
25:53from 10,000 feet
25:55to roughly
25:56500 feet
25:57or below
25:58in just a matter
25:59of seconds.
26:00To do that,
26:01we're talking about
26:02something that would
26:03have to be moving
26:05exceptionally fast,
26:07upwards of Mach 40.
26:09Those types of G-forces
26:10would crush a person.
26:13So McMillan agrees
26:15with the Belgian Air Force.
26:16A human couldn't
26:17withstand these forces,
26:18but maybe an alien could.
26:20Well, hang on.
26:21McMillan has a different theory
26:23as to what the F-16's
26:24radar screens
26:25may have detected.
26:26I think possibly
26:27what we're looking at here
26:29is something called
26:31Bragg scattering.
26:32It's a scattering effect
26:33with the radar.
26:34Pockets of high humidity,
26:36ice crystals,
26:37cloud cover,
26:38different things like that
26:40can actually cause the radar
26:42to produce false echo returns.
26:44The pilots themselves
26:46never visually saw anything,
26:49only the radar.
26:50In this particular case,
26:51I would say that the idea
26:53that radar scattering
26:55caused these false returns
26:57could be a very plausible
27:00explanation for it.
27:01But remember,
27:02this object was detected
27:04on multiple radar systems,
27:06so it's unlikely
27:07it would be Bragg's scattering
27:09in every case.
27:10That's why many
27:11who've studied this incident
27:13remain perplexed.
27:19Okay, it's true.
27:20The incredibly fast speeds
27:22caught on the F-16's radar
27:24could be a glitch.
27:25But our verdict
27:27is genuine UFO.
27:29We have no way
27:30of confirming
27:30if the object seen
27:31on radar
27:32is the same one
27:33filmed in Brussels,
27:34but it does seem remarkable
27:36that these two pieces
27:37of footage came
27:38within hours of each other.
27:39And decades later,
27:41the former Air Force colonel
27:42and now-retired
27:43Major General de Brouwer
27:45still can't account
27:46for the thousands
27:47of UFO sightings
27:48reported in Belgium
27:49over those months.
27:53In November of 2021,
27:56the Pentagon announced
27:57the establishment
27:58of a new UFO task force.
28:00And just in time
28:01for our next sighting,
28:02which took place
28:04on that very same day.
28:06Coincidence?
28:07We'll let you decide.
28:09November 24th, 2021,
28:12a commercial plane
28:12is on an early morning flight
28:14near Hong Kong.
28:15As the plane flies
28:16over the South China Sea
28:17at 39,000 feet,
28:18an unusual sight
28:19out of the right window
28:20prompts the pilot
28:22to whip out his cell phone
28:23and record this.
28:26Nine orbs are moving
28:27across the sky
28:28in three organized rows.
28:30Let's zoom in.
28:32The wildest part?
28:33Watch how the orbs
28:35on the left disappear
28:36before three more orbs
28:37reappear on the far side
28:39of the formation
28:39and the cycle repeats.
28:42I don't know
28:43what they need to say.
28:44That is some weird s***.
28:47These orbs seem
28:48to be blinking
28:48in some kind of pattern
28:50or signal
28:52until finally,
28:53one by one,
28:54they slowly, slowly disappear
28:56and then they're all just gone.
29:00The video quickly goes viral,
29:02racking up nearly 300,000 views.
29:04But the question is,
29:05what could they be?
29:06There were a number of theories
29:08as to what the lights
29:09could actually be.
29:10One of the most popular
29:11is, of course,
29:12that they were UFOs.
29:14Patterns of strange lights
29:15in the sky
29:16have been observed
29:16for decades.
29:17In 1951,
29:19a group of scientists
29:19from Texas Technical College
29:21claimed to see a group
29:22of 15 to 30 bluish-green objects
29:24flying in formation.
29:26A student at the college
29:27snapped these photographs
29:28and the phenomenon
29:29became known
29:30as the Lubbock Lights.
29:32The incident grabbed headlines
29:33across the nation,
29:34but why would this formation
29:36of lights
29:37be so near another airplane?
29:39Grundhauser says
29:39some ufologists have theories.
29:41Some theories include
29:43that they are trying
29:44to show us the technology
29:46that they have,
29:47almost in comparison
29:48to the technology we're using.
29:49It's also possible
29:50that, especially when
29:52it comes to military aircraft,
29:54maybe the aliens
29:55are just getting
29:57the measure of us,
29:58seeing what our technology
30:00can do.
30:02Today, the formal
30:04U.S. government name
30:05of the UFO task force
30:07is the Airborne Object
30:08Identification and Management
30:11Synchronization Group.
30:13Lord, if you can come up
30:14with a clunkier name,
30:15please, please email it to us.
30:17This organization
30:19wasn't established
30:20until after more than
30:21100 incidents
30:22documented by military planes
30:24were officially classified
30:25as unexplained.
30:26So did this pilot's
30:28strange encounter
30:29over the South China Sea
30:30merit a report
30:31with the department?
30:32We ask our experts.
30:39What's interesting
30:40about this recording
30:40is there is a moment
30:42where that automatic iris
30:44makes a change
30:44and the white balance
30:46overall in the image changes
30:47and the intensity
30:49of the objects doesn't.
30:50They stay fairly consistent,
30:52so I did not detect
30:53any evidence
30:53that these objects
30:55were overlaid
30:55into the recording
30:56or any CGI
30:57was used to create them.
30:58So this video
30:59does appear to be genuine.
31:00Are we looking at
31:01some kind of
31:01atmospheric phenomenon?
31:03When we see lightning,
31:04it's a very quick flash.
31:05It's a discharge
31:07of electricity.
31:07In this case,
31:09it's a light
31:09that appears to be
31:10fairly static
31:11for a couple of seconds
31:12and then it goes away.
31:14There really is
31:15no weather phenomenon
31:16out there
31:17that would manifest itself
31:19as an orb
31:19or a light.
31:21If it's not atmospheric,
31:23could these be
31:23actual alien ships?
31:25They're not doing
31:25anything amazing
31:26in terms of moving
31:27very fast.
31:28They don't appear
31:29to be shooting upwards,
31:30which is a typical thing
31:31that you see
31:31in UFO videos.
31:32So it probably has
31:34a relatively
31:35earthly explanation.
31:37Maybe that steady formation
31:38that rules out UFOs
31:40rules in another explanation,
31:42drones.
31:43Now we see
31:43very impressive
31:44aerial setups sometimes
31:46where lots of drones
31:48fly in synchronized shapes,
31:50but no one's going
31:51to be making
31:51a drone display
31:52at 20,000 feet
31:53over the South China Sea.
31:54And drones
31:55are probably not going
31:56to be bright enough
31:57to be seen
31:58at that distance.
31:59But West does find
32:00a clue in the video
32:01that he believes
32:02is key to solving
32:03the mystery.
32:04I think probably
32:05what we're looking
32:06at here are
32:07three military planes
32:09dropping flares.
32:10Many fighter jets
32:11employ decoy flares,
32:13which burn on contact
32:14with the air
32:15and at a temperature
32:15hotter than
32:16the engine exhaust.
32:17They're deployed
32:18to attract heat-seeking missiles,
32:20and it's possible
32:21this timed formation
32:22is due to a training exercise.
32:24These decoy flares,
32:26they need to burn
32:27as bright as possible
32:28initially so that
32:29they can guide
32:29the missiles away
32:30from the plane
32:31and then they're
32:32just allowed to burn out.
32:33Meanwhile,
32:34U.S. government officials
32:35claim China
32:36has fully militarized
32:37at least three
32:38artificial islands
32:39they've constructed
32:40in the South China Sea.
32:41It's probably
32:42Chinese military aircraft
32:43just doing
32:44some kind of exercise.
32:45Fighter jets
32:46are usually
32:47highly camouflaged,
32:49so since it's dusk,
32:50there's gray clouds behind,
32:52it's simply too far away
32:53to see the planes.
32:59Our verdict?
33:00Military flares.
33:02The South China Sea
33:03has gained
33:03major geopolitical significance
33:05because a huge share
33:07of the world's maritime shipping
33:08passes through it.
33:09Given that the area
33:10has seen a variety
33:11of territorial disputes
33:13of late,
33:14it's not too surprising
33:15to see a military presence
33:16in the airspace above it.
33:20Germany has its own history
33:22of UFOs going back
33:23at least as far
33:24as World War II.
33:25This next puzzling footage
33:27is a much more recent sighting
33:29out of Deutschland,
33:29and whatever it is,
33:31we know it's not
33:32one of the 99 Luftballons.
33:36September 29th, 2014.
33:39It's a beautiful day
33:40in Boral, Germany,
33:42a rural southern village
33:43near the Swiss border.
33:45A photographer sets up
33:46his camera
33:47to film the perfect sunset,
33:49but when he watches
33:50the footage back,
33:51he has captured
33:52something else entirely.
33:55A bright, streaking orb
33:57jetting across the sky.
34:02Suddenly,
34:02the object seems
34:04to zigzag violently
34:05before continuing downward.
34:07Let's see that again.
34:11The way that it moves,
34:13it doesn't look like
34:14the behavior
34:14that any earthly vessel
34:16could possibly undertake.
34:18Much of the online speculation
34:20centers on the location
34:22of the sighting,
34:23a place considered by some
34:24to be the birthplace
34:25of the modern UFO phenomenon.
34:28It was 1944,
34:30behind German lines.
34:31The Elite 415
34:32Night Fighter Squadron
34:34reported strange phenomenon
34:35in the skies over Germany.
34:37The incident involved
34:38a Bristol Bowfighter crew
34:40led by pilot Edward Schloider
34:43and his crewmates
34:44who were flying
34:45over the Rhine Valley
34:47near Strasburg.
34:49The crew described
34:50eight to ten
34:51orange orbs
34:52flying at high speeds
34:54off of their left wing.
34:55The lights appeared
34:57from nowhere,
34:58moving at erratic angles,
34:59dancing around the planes.
35:01The puzzled squadron
35:02could not shoot them down.
35:03They also never appeared
35:05on radar.
35:06The pilots dubbed
35:07the bright light bogeys,
35:09allegedly captured
35:10in this photo,
35:11Foo Fighters.
35:12Since the Foo Fighters
35:14caused no damage,
35:15the American crewmen
35:17doubted that they were
35:18actually German secret weapons.
35:21German pilots claimed
35:23to have seen Foo Fighters
35:24as well,
35:25and they were just as baffled.
35:27But there are
35:28other modern instances
35:30of similar bright orbs
35:31descending on planes, too.
35:33On a previous episode,
35:34we analyzed this 2020 sighting
35:36from the Mexican skies
35:38where veteran military
35:39and commercial pilot
35:40Captain Eric Delgado
35:41recorded this footage.
35:44Oh, man,
35:44that is phenomenal, dude.
35:46I'm so glad you saw that.
35:47And you saw it drop out of the sky
35:48and just,
35:49and just,
35:49and just stop?
35:50It's not on the street star.
35:51It just stopped.
35:53Oh, this is awesome, man.
35:56Captain Delgado says
35:57this thing dropped
35:58straight down from above
35:59and hit his plane
36:01with some kind of spotlight.
36:02It looked like a lighthouse
36:04in some thin fog
36:05as it's turning.
36:06So that really got
36:07my heart going.
36:08No doubt a UFO
36:09shining a light
36:10on your plane
36:11would be a terrifying moment.
36:13I thought there could have
36:13been a safety issue
36:14because initially
36:15this thing is turning into us,
36:17and then it decided
36:17to park itself
36:18off her left wing, too.
36:20The glowing orb
36:21maintains its position,
36:22pacing the plane.
36:24Delgado says
36:25it stayed there
36:25for 25 minutes
36:26before darting off
36:27at a sharp angle.
36:30He's a pulsating orb.
36:31Look at that, dude.
36:32Look at that.
36:33It's the kind
36:34of inexplicable maneuver
36:35we've come to associate
36:36with UFOs,
36:37from Foo Fighters
36:38to those encountered
36:40more recently
36:40by Navy pilots
36:41to this very video.
36:44Both the Foo Fighters
36:46legend and the modern footage
36:47shot by Captain Delgado
36:49remain mysteries.
36:50How will this
36:51German orb footage
36:52hold up to
36:53our expert scrutiny?
36:55Time for our team
36:55to dig in and find out.
37:01Is it possible
37:02all these highly
37:03maneuverable UFOs
37:04are a single type of craft,
37:06and this is one of them?
37:08It does seem to be
37:09going extremely fast,
37:11and also at one point
37:12executes a remarkable turn.
37:16That single hairpin turn
37:18might match
37:18Foo Fighter reports,
37:20so if it's not a Foo Fighter,
37:22could it be a meteor?
37:23This is a time-lapse video,
37:25which means that
37:26we're looking at the sun
37:27setting over
37:29a long period of time.
37:31If that's the case,
37:33this is way too slow,
37:35actually,
37:36to be a meteor.
37:37Most meteors
37:39are visible for seconds,
37:40burning up
37:40in a flash,
37:41so the revelation
37:42that this is a time-lapse video
37:44rules that out altogether.
37:46The skip in time
37:47from the time-lapse
37:48could also explain
37:49the erratic movement.
37:50So it's not a meteor
37:52or an alien spacecraft.
37:54Could it be
37:54a non-alien spacecraft,
37:56like a satellite?
37:57This could not be
37:58a satellite
37:59because it's still
38:00way too bright
38:01to see even
38:02the brightest satellites.
38:03Satellites do come out
38:06at sunset,
38:07but only after the sun
38:08goes down.
38:09Could this object
38:10have something
38:11to do with the camera?
38:13Here's the thing
38:13with cameras.
38:15Whenever you point
38:15them into the sun,
38:16you're going to get
38:17things you don't expect
38:18or don't want
38:19because the sun
38:21is immensely brighter
38:22than anything else
38:23in the field of view.
38:25So if this is something
38:27up in the sky,
38:27as soon as it starts
38:28to go down
38:29toward the horizon,
38:30it should slow down.
38:31To your eye,
38:32it's not.
38:32It stays the exact
38:34same speed.
38:35That tells me
38:36that it's probably
38:37a camera artifact
38:38of some kind.
38:44Our verdict?
38:46Lens flare
38:47or another kind
38:48of camera artifact.
38:49We wish we could say
38:50this video brought us
38:51closer to an answer
38:52on the Foo Fighter legend,
38:53but not this time.
38:55Those mysteries continue.
38:57And as we've seen tonight,
38:59strange encounters
39:00are happening on planes
39:01across the globe.
39:03So the next time you fly,
39:05you may want to book
39:06an aisle seat.
39:07Thank you so much
39:08for watching this special edition
39:09of The Proof Is Out There.
39:11Please send us any video,
39:12images,
39:13or sound
39:14that you think
39:15we should investigate.
39:16And remember
39:17to keep those cameras rolling.
