00:00America's allies are scratching their heads.
00:03They don't really know what's going on because one minute,
00:05President Trump says on Truth Social like he did yesterday,
00:08the talks are going really well.
00:09He talks about this new leadership in Tehran that he says is really intelligent
00:13and which is asking for a ceasefire.
00:15And then a couple of hours later, he's pledging an escalation of attacks on Iran.
00:20And President Macron of France, who perhaps has most to be aggrieved about
00:24with regards to last night's address, says this,
00:27let's be serious and not say one day the opposite of what we said the day before.
00:33I mean, doesn't that explain why America's allies have perhaps
00:36not been particularly enthusiastic about jumping in and helping here?
00:40Because they don't really understand what's going on.
00:43Well, I think it's a combination of they are not sure what the end goal is.
00:47And what a lot of individuals wanted the president to outline last night
00:51was what steps need to be taken.
00:55Not a timeline, not a, you know, end date, not a, you know, not any information
01:01that might put our military men and women in danger,
01:06but just a kind of a broad level set outcome that will end the hostilities
01:11or end the offensive action from the Americans' point of view.
01:15And I, you know, to our allies in NATO,
01:19I think they were hoping for that and didn't get it.
01:22In terms of the Strait of Hormuz and the energy that is not passing through that
01:30strait at the at the moment that benefits, you know, Korea, Japan and our European allies,
01:37that is a that is something that we they they are feeling that much more acutely than America is.
01:44We've got some rising gas prices,
01:45but nothing like the shortages that our other allies are experiencing.
01:51And I'm sure they're very frustrated because they weren't contacted prior to the engagement.
01:57And that at the end of the day, I think we have to come back to that,
02:00that sometimes it is it is important to really get everyone on the same page
02:07or at least tell them what you're about to do and not surprise the world.
