00:02Dozens of people were here and ready to go at 5am when the market opened its doors, eager
00:07to get their hands on the day's freshest cuts of fish.
00:10Around 650 tonnes of seafood is expected to be sold today, including around 100 tonnes
00:15of prawns and around a million oysters.
00:18It's the market's first Easter long weekend at its new waterfront home in Glebe.
00:23However, the Good Friday rush is nothing new for many of these retailers who have come
00:27across from the old site. Many of them were here bidding on fish on the auction floor around 2am this
00:32morning.
00:33More than 60,000 people are predicted to come through the doors today,
00:36making it the market's busiest day of trade on record.
00:39We've spoken to some very dedicated shoppers who were here before sunrise,
00:43some even travelling from Wollongong and the Central Coast.
00:46Many of them say they're enjoying the upgraded market, but a few others say they miss the character of the
00:51old site.
00:52We always come every Good Friday, it's a tradition, so we come every year.
00:57So this is our first year at the new building, at the new precinct and it's beautiful.
01:01We're probably looking for some prawns, I think some scallops and maybe some oysters.
01:05I think that's probably going to be the trifecta that we might try.
01:08Prawn cocktails, barramundi drilled on the barbecue and probably some garlic, garlic baby octopus.
01:16We're going to go to a friend's house and like eat all the fish.
01:20This is our first time going to this one.

01:31This one doesn't have the same energy, but it is really nice and I like how close everything is.
