00:00Justin Crawford, the rookie, has kind of taken this team and this city by storm immediately.
00:06What are your thoughts on him right now?
00:11It's amazing how comfortable he looks, isn't it?
00:15You know, I've talked to him a little in spring training, talked to him quite a bit after opening night.
00:21And this is a guy who spent a week in the big leagues, didn't get called up in September.
00:27And he is so comfortable in this city, in that clubhouse, in the moment.
00:33He's really not fazed by any of this.
00:37And, I mean, I feel the same way about Andrew Painter.
00:40They both feel incredibly comfortable.
00:43Is that what you see?
00:45Definitely what I see.
00:47I mean, I was talking about Andrew Painter.
00:49I could understand Justin Crawford because he grew up in a family that was always at the ballpark.
00:56With Andrew Painter, I thought it was a little different.
00:59But his poise, his poise was the one thing that impressed me the most.
01:03He doesn't feel like he's 22.
01:06You don't really do.
01:07But this is the way Andrew Painter has looked.
01:15The presence that he's had since day one of spring training.
01:19And, you know, I've heard people talk about it going way back.
01:24But to see it in this setting, in such an important spring and such an important season for him, has
01:33been really impressive.
01:34And, you know, I've been thinking about this.
01:37I understood exactly why there were so many complaints over the winter about running it back.
01:42But suppose we had framed it differently.
01:46You know, suppose we said, suppose the Phillies were going to add a guy who hit over .330 last year
01:54and stole 46 bases.
01:57That's what Justin Crawford did in AAA.
01:59What if we said they're going to add a starting pitcher who has been compared to Garrett Cole and Justin
02:04Verlanger?
02:05Because that's true of Andrew Painter.
02:08And they did add those two guys to the mix.
02:11And I think it's clear.
02:14They have a chance to be more than a couple of guys who are part of the puzzle.
02:20They have a chance to be significant difference makers.
