00:15acting President of Venezuela, Delcio Rodriguez. The National Elections jury concluded the official
00:24cycle of presidential debates for 2026 and the processes entering the final stage on
00:28the way to the elections on April 12. Iran responds to the U.S. that they will not cease its
00:37defense
00:37under pressure and at the end of the war is decided by the Ayatollah and his people.
00:43Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Delcio Studios in Caracas,
00:47Venezuela. We'll begin with the news.
01:06The U.S. Department of the Treasury lifted unilateral sanctions directed against the acting President
01:11of Venezuela, Delcio Rodriguez. The official notification indicates that the Office of
01:15Foreign Assets Control removed two entries corresponding to Venezuela's acting President
01:19Delcio Rodriguez from the specially designated nationals list. Let's recall that Delcio Rodriguez
01:25had been on that list since 2018 as part of the U.S. sanctions regime targeting senior members
01:30of the Venezuelan government. The decision means that acting President Delcio Rodriguez no longer
01:35subject to the financial and commercial restrictions associated with the SDN list, which includes
01:39the potential unblocking of assets under U.S. jurisdiction and the ability to carry out transactions
01:44with U.S. entities or citizens.
01:52Through her social media, Venezuela's acting President Delcio Rodriguez commented on the U.S.
01:57government's decision to lift the sanctions against her. In this regard, Rodriguez stated,
02:00we value President Donald Trump's decision as a step towards normalizing and strengthening
02:05relations between our countries. We trust that this progress will allow the lifting of sanctions
02:09against our country, enabling us to develop and guarantee an effective bilateral cooperation
02:14agenda for the benefit of our peoples. Let's continue working towards a prosperous Venezuela for all.
02:24And a group of 141 Venezuelan migrants returned to the country from the United States through the back to the
02:30home,
02:30homeland plan promoted by the government. A total of 149 repatriates returned to the country on flight
02:36number 129 from Oparloca, Florida, which arrived at the Simone Bolivar International Airport in Maiketia.
02:42Upon arrival, authorities provided them with comprehensive health and logistical support.
02:46The group consisted of 118 men, 21 women and two children who were reunited with their families.
02:53This operation is part of the government's efforts to facilitate the return of citizens to the country.
03:04And the Cuban government has presented the update to its 2026 Economic and Social Program,
03:09a document that outlines the plan to reactivate the economy in a context marked by the criminal
03:12pressure of the United States against the island. The program, developed in accordance with the
03:17documents approved at the 7th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, defines the objective,
03:22methods and timing of government actions with precision. In this way, it becomes a guiding document for the
03:27necessary transformations, with its scope not limited to the central level. The plan is articulated with
03:33provincial and municipal development strategies ensuring an integrated territorial management.
03:42And Argentina prepares to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the Malvinas War. The tradition of
03:47visual keeps alive the Argentine people's claim to sovereignty. In the eve of April 2nd, Argentina hosts the
03:53Malvinas official to honor the veterans and fallen soldiers of the 1982 war. The central ceremony aims to keep the
03:59claim of sovereignty of the island firmly in the memory of the people. The Argentine government considers that the United
04:04Kingdom
04:04usurps around 25% of its national territory by occupying the archipelago. This conflict marked a turning
04:11point in the country's history and strengthened the persistence of the claim by diplomatic means.
04:21In Haiti, the UN's multinational force has been deployed to combat criminal groups that control
04:26most of the Caribbean nation. A contingent from Chad began deployment on Wednesday of 5,000 troops who
04:33arrived in a gradual manner to secure key infrastructure and routes. In this context, the Dominican Republic
04:39is considering offering logistical support at the border. This force was created under the pretext of
04:44stabilizing the country, which has been sinking into a deep crisis since the assassination of President
04:49Jovenel Moïse in 2021. Let's recall that the main flows of weapons and supplies to these communal groups
04:54originators originate from the United States, according to reports.
05:03On Wednesday, the Constitutional Court of Ecuador denounced a climate of sustained institutional
05:08pressure that has been putting the autonomy and independence of its magistrates at risk since 2025.
05:14The highest institution of judicial control has raised concerns about the state of the balance of
05:18powers in the country and has stated that the process of fiscalization of its judges must be carried out
05:24with strict adherence to due process and legal certainty. The immediate context is the special
05:29examination of the property declarations of some judges by the Comptroller General without notifying them
05:35of the findings or results. The General Comptroller of the state of Ecuador has identified possible
05:40inconsistencies in the assets reported by the magistrates. There is analysis of several years of judges of the
05:46constitutional court that shows movements that have not been fully justified, so they were referred
05:50to the Public Prosecutor's Office for investigation. The confrontation arises in a time of high political
05:55tension in the country and reawakens the debate about the use of controlled bodies as a means of
06:00pressure against judges for their function.
06:08And the lawyer of Ecuador's former Vice President Sonia Vera has claimed that Jorge
06:13Glass is at risk of dying for malnutrition while he is detained in a maximum security prison.
06:18The lawyer claims that Glass's deteriorating physical condition cannot be hidden or distorted any
06:24longer. She also stated that on February 10th, the nutritionist reported that Glass had lost nine kilos
06:30in just three months, which she considered a considerable loss and ordered a dietary plan that has not been
06:36followed. Meanwhile, Vera mentioned that her client suffers from a severe psychiatric condition due to being a
06:42survivor of prison massacres. She is also provided with discontinuous medication.
06:54Let's take our first break. We're going to be right back.
07:14Welcome back. In Peru, on Wednesday, the national elections jury concluded the official cycle of
07:18presidential debates for 2026. With the final round taking place at the Lima Convention Center,
07:2311 candidates presented their proposals, bringing to a close six nights of interventions never before
07:28seen in the country. The final day of the campaign focused on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship,
07:34particularly targeting young urban and entrepreneurial voters. Among the candidates who participated in the
07:40closing event on Wednesday were Cesar Acuña, Jose Williams, Jose Luna, Rosario Fernandez and Ricardo
07:45Belmont. Among others, in the previous event, Rafael Lopez Aliaga, Keiko Fujimori, Marisol Perez,
07:51Tello, Mario Vizcarra and Roberto Sanchez debated topics related to education and employment. With the closing of the
07:57debate, the final countdown begins for the elections on April 12th.
08:17A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck northern Peru with its epicenter 19 kilometers south of the city of
08:23Minnesota, according to the Geophysical Institute. The earthquake occurred at 6.20 a.m. local time and had a
08:29death of 133 kilometers. So far, authorities have not reported any casualties or significant property
08:34damage. Northern Peru is located in an area of high seismic activity and this event joins others recorded
08:40in recent weeks, although without serious consequences. Nonetheless, civil protection agencies continue to
08:45monitor the situation. In Indonesia, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake has hit the northern Moluka Sea off the coast
08:59of the city of Ternate, triggering a tsunami warning for nearby islands. The epicenter of the earthquake was
09:06about 75 miles from Ternate in Indonesia's north Maluku province. So far, one death has been reported due to
09:13falling rubble in the Manado area. According to the U.S., tsunami warning system, dangerous tsunami waves
09:19are possible along the coast of Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. Waves of height ranging
09:24from 0.3 to 1 meter above the tide level could hit some coastal areas of Indonesia. It is called
09:30that
09:30the country straddles the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an area of high seismic activity where tectonic
09:35plates meet and earthquakes are frequent.
09:46And on Wednesday in the United States, NASA's Artemis II mission took off from Kennedy Space Center in
09:51Florida, carrying four astronauts on a journey around the Moon. Artemis II is the first crew mission of the
09:57Artemis program and the first journey of astronauts beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo 17 in 1972.
10:03This launch comes after delays in February and March caused by technical issues with the rocket,
10:08including hydrogen leaks and a problem with helium flow. The crew, which includes NASA's Reed Wiseman,
10:13Victor Glover and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen,
10:20could break the distance record set by the Apollo program traveling farther from Earth than any human ever has.
10:30Let's recall this mission is a major step in NASA's plan to establish a base on the Moon and eventually
10:36send astronauts to Mars. On the sixth day of flight, the mission will reach its farthest point from Earth,
10:42as it travels 4,000 miles beyond the Moon. In doing so, the mission will break Apollo's 13th distance
10:48record after emerging from behind the Moon with a similar maneuver. Artemis will then head directly
10:53towards Earth with a water landing schedule for the 10th day of flight. It is worth noting that no lunar
10:59mission has been undertaken in 53 years since the Apollo missions between 1968 and 1972.
11:22In China, the spring season transforms the landscape of Yuan Tuushu Park into a natural exhibition of
11:28thousands of cherry blossoms. In Jiangsu province, the captivating Yuan Tuushu Park attracts crowds of
11:40domestic and foreign visitors to appreciate the blooming of cherry trees. Around this natural
11:48spectacle, the Spring Cherry Blossom Festival is held, where dozens of trees are illuminated in golden,
11:53pink, and lavender colors, to highlight the beauty of the flowers during the night.
12:06The contemplation and photography of cherry blossoms is the central focus of the festival, however,
12:11it also includes other activities such as ferry rides where the local fauna can be observed.
12:21It is my first visit to Yuan Tuushu Park. I experienced the ferry for the first time,
12:26and admired red-billed gulls up close. Then I came to admire the cherry blossoms here,
12:31there is a great variety. Whether you come with friends or go alone for a walk or a picnic,
12:36it is a wonderful place. It is also very suitable for coming with family and friends.
12:44recognized as one of the most emblematic tourist destinations and one of the most outstanding
12:48landscapes during the spring season, due to its more than 30,000 cherry trees of 70 different
12:53varieties. It offers one of the most prolonged and diverse floral displays in the country.
13:04This is not the first time I have visited Yuan Tuushu, to see the cherry blossoms.
13:09I have an annual pass, so I come, every year during the peak bloom season.
13:15There is a great variety, and the early blooming cherry trees are especially unique.
13:21You can easily take a great photo with your phone, as Yuan Tuushu is a landmark of Watsi.
13:28I always recommend it to my friends when they visit so they can enjoy the cherry blossoms and have a
13:33spring outing.
13:38Within Chinese popular culture, the cherry blossom is considered a symbol of spring,
13:43rebirth, and the promise of new beginnings.
13:48These trees bloom during late March and early April, a period during which the visual spectacle of
13:54colors of colors and nature lasts.
14:01We now have our second break. Don't go away.
14:27Welcome back.
14:28In statements from the White House, US President Trump has reiterated his intention to continue
14:33attacks against Iranian people and leaders despite global calls for respect for international law.
14:39We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks.
14:44We're going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong.
14:49In the meantime, discussions are ongoing. Regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change,
14:56but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leaders' death. They're all dead.
15:06The recent speech by US President Trump has failed to allay market concerns. Gas and oil prices have
15:12rose exponentially. The President's explanation of the military escalation against Iran caused even
15:17more concern. Numerous congressmen have reacted to the President's speech and assert that there is
15:22no plan to end this war. Congressman Seth Moulton also warns that the President is placing US troops
15:28in a dangerous position while they are being declared war targets. The markets reacted immediately.
15:33Asian stock markets fell by 0.75% and the price of barrel of Brent crude fell by a lot,
15:43according to the defense message.
15:45We continue with our topic. China and Pakistan are promoting a joint initiative to promote stability
15:50in the Middle East on Tuesday. Authorities from both countries met in Beijing, the capital of the Asian giant,
15:56in a meeting led by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Ji and Pakistani Vice Prime Minister Mohammed Ishak Dar.
16:03The proposal contemplates the immediate cessation of facilities, the initiation of peace talks,
16:08the dispatch of humanitarian aid, and the protection of the civilian population and maritime routes.
16:13During the meeting, both nations warned that the current conflict already has repercussions at a global level,
16:18especially in terms of energy supply which affects developing countries the most.
16:22Pakistan graduated its neutral position and expressed its intention to continue collaborating with China
16:27to promote a diplomatic solution.
16:50And more than 64,000 children have been orphaned in Gaza. Of those, more than 42,000 lost one or
16:57both parents since the beginning of Israel's Genocide War in October.
17:01The figures released by the Ministry of Social Development in Gaza revealed the brutal human cost of an ethnic cleansing
17:06process.
17:0732.7% of these children are in the Gaza Covenant rate, and in addition to losing their parents, they
17:13are also facing forced displacement,
17:15the destruction of their homes, the interruption of medical and educational care, and a severe shortage of food and medicine.
17:21A ministry official, Sima Alami, revealed that 61% of these children suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and 96
17:28% of them are convinced that they will die soon.
17:39And on Wednesday, three civilians, including a child in critical condition, were injured by gunfire attributed to the genocide or
17:45Israeli forces in various locations of the Gaza Strip.
17:47The war of extermination waged by the scientist entity has caused thousands of victims, as numerous national and intranational organizations
17:54have denounced.
17:55In the latest attack, a child was seriously injured after reports of machine gun and artillery fire in the Wenawasi
18:01area of Hanjunis, in the south of the enclave.
18:04Other two civilians were shot in the Seitu neighborhood in Gaza City and in the vicinity of the Nusrat camp.
18:10In parallel, there were bombings and demolitions of homes in several areas of the territory.
18:37Iran will not see this defense under pressure, said on the 30th general of the division,
18:41Mosin Tresa and member of the council of the Sermon.
18:44Iran will not see this defense under pressure, said on the 30th general of the division, Mosin Tresa member of
18:44the council of the Sermon.
18:44of the system of Iran and ex-commander of the Corps of Guardians of the Revolution.
18:49The general of the division ratified that any process of negotiations with the United States
18:53must begin with the lifting of sanctions and compensation for the damage caused by the U.S.-Israeli aggression.
18:58He also confirmed what the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mastabah Hameli and President Masoud Pesekian have said.
19:05The end of the war will be decided by the Ayatollah and the Iranian people.
19:09The general assured that the mass mobilizations in his country sent a clear message
19:13that the defense of national sovereignty is the top priority.
19:21And the Global Sumud Movement presented its international humanitarian mission in Argentina
19:26amid the deportation of Brazilian activist Tiago Ávila,
19:29who was deported upon his arrival at Jorge Newberry Airport.
