00:00So we're with the Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston and you've had a wander around now.
00:04What do you think about this type of event, how important is it for you and the Isle of
00:07Man in general?
00:08Look it's a fantastic event, it's a really exciting event, there's over 500 youngsters
00:12who have registered for this to be here today, I'd say I think about 55 employers are here
00:18so a great opportunity for young people to have a think about their careers, they're
00:21all at different stages, some people obviously still in sixth form, maybe not sure what they're
00:25wanting to do, we've got potential graduates here, we've got people at UCM, people thinking
00:29about their careers, thinking about internships, so it's a great opportunity to get everyone
00:32together and realise and showcase the opportunities there are on the island.
00:36Absolutely and locate Isle of Man, we're at the centre of this really and what would you
00:40say to perhaps a young person who's considering moving to Isle of Man, there's a lot on our
00:44doorstep that perhaps we don't know about isn't there?
00:46Yeah I think sometimes we underestimate ourselves and we talk ourselves down, there are some really
00:51exciting opportunities here, for a small jurisdiction the Isle of Man's got a very diverse economy
00:55there are lots of different opportunities here, so obviously what we're wanting to say to young
00:59people is, you know of course some people want to go away and experience life but there are
01:02great exciting opportunities on the island for local young people to stay and also to attract
01:08people here and other the work that locate do for example in some of the universities in the north
01:12place of England, sort of selling the island and saying what great opportunities there are so
01:16you know it's a mix and I think it's you know it's really important that we do these sort of
01:20events.
01:20So here we are with the lovely Anne Cawler at the Young Adult and Graduate Fair, so Anne what is
01:26your
01:26involvement with this event today and Locate Isle of Man?
01:29Okay well I'm the political member in Department of Enterprise with responsibility for Locate.
01:36And why do you think it's important for young people to come to events like this and come
01:40back to the Isle of Man to work?
01:42Well we want young people to come back that's it, it's vital for the economy that young people do come
01:49back and stay with us and have families and live on the Isle of Man. I mean the importance of
01:54events like
01:55this, I mean you just you feel it yourself. It's so positive, lots of smiley people, it's really great event
02:01to attend.
