09:02where the collection goes from workout to the weekend with one of the hottest activewear companies,
09:09Kalia.
09:12So to give you guys some more insight into Kalia, we have a special guest, vice president and head designer
09:19for Kalia, Alicia Scott.
09:27So good to meet all of you.
09:29We created Kalia about 10 years ago and really wanted to form a brand that is the perfect juxtaposition of
09:36fashion and femininity and function.
09:38And I love how you guys have all styled all your pieces you got today.
09:42Our entire collection is rooted in performance.
09:45If you're designing a look for Pilates or run, it needs to be able to function.
09:50We believe there's beauty in the burn.
09:52How's it going to work whenever she is doing a downward dog?
09:55Make sure that when you're designing a piece, it can be used for working out, going to grab coffee, going
10:01out to grab cocktails with your friends.
10:03It needs to be versatile.
10:04So not only has Kalia provided lookbooks, she's also provided all the fabrications for the challenge.

12:23and so coming off the last challenge being in the bottom our stickler was our cohesion so as we're
12:30going through these fabrics that kalia provided us we're really paying attention to what color
12:36palette we want to do so that we really nail that cohesion this time because if we miss it two
12:40times
12:41in a row are we gonna be done for i love this fabric that was trying to get the colors
12:46out of this
12:47this has all your colors
12:50once again antonio is choosing the fabric and i'm getting a little anxious because last time
12:57he chose fabric we were in the bottom can y'all roll the tape back the fabric that i brought

14:15tailor from nagasaki japan so i find a lot of inspiration in what the japanese call intangible
14:23cultural treasures but my mama would say that i don't bring enough of the south with me

14:42my design aesthetic is a combination of street wear and elegance i want to win project runway for my

15:04madeline what informs your work i'm trying to always like see things that i like about
15:12vintage fashion but then giving it like my own little twist
15:15what about yourself i grew up in like a hoedunk farm town i just felt inherently so different from
15:22the rest of my family the only thing i could really do was you know rely on my own creativity
15:28and imagination to kind of distract me from maybe not feeling like it belonged there did they accept
15:34you as you are like you know when i finally did come out they were like we don't get it
15:41yet but we
15:42just don't want to lose you so we're gonna try to figure this out i feel really blessed to be
15:48able
15:48to have my family in my life so it makes me want to really push myself to win this for
15:56them

16:12i am a technical designer and i am a serious workaholic my family is jamaican and i've always
16:19been raised with all the elders around me doing multiple things even if it's not their job they're
16:25gonna figure out how to do it that day and do it so i have to push myself because this

16:31weekend challenge is taking me out of my comfort zone i really wanted to do something that was
16:36extremely comfortable i think it feels a little too demure i think i made the right decision
16:44i was the one who fought to use this print because mrs joan didn't like it she still doesn't like

16:57groundbreaking this circle skirt yeah i can cut a circle out right now and do this in 10 minutes
17:03really we're kind of not the exact same look from the last challenge but you're making a jacket and
17:13a jacket and a skirt a jacket and a skirt let me tell you a little something about christian seriano
17:19christian come in the workroom like are you sure about that or he be walking around like oh okay that
17:28little face be killing me with them glasses and that hair perfectly swapped it to the side the top
17:33being fabulous is very important here we should develop this more because you already know you can
17:39make a cool jacket i'm gonna listen to christian because i know i'm taking a risk but i do not
17:43want
17:43to be in the bottom again you got a lot to do i got you okay let's get it i'm
17:50kind of going for like
17:50that modern with a little bit of tron this sash doesn't do anything she couldn't do any athletic
17:57things with this hanging what are all these lines on this so i kind of want to achieve this kind

18:07like texture all of these lines you're gonna weave the inspirations for this design is the kalia logo
18:13it's like a twisted string it's like very dynamic what are you doing it's going to be like a more
18:23like athletic fancy corset bustier kind of thing this makes no sense for an athletic look that scares me
18:34athleisure specifically is not something that i normally do unfortunately time is not on our side
18:41in this competition christian has his doubts about this corset but we're sticking to our guns
18:47hmm what are you doing i am doing an oversized hoodie which i'm thinking about cropping i did the
18:55pin tuck in my hand it's gonna have the same pin tuck and all over the pants as well so

19:02doing a sweat oversized sweat oversized sweat pant in the same fabric is the pant wide like that wide
19:11you haven't even looked at each other's stuff and she's like right she's right in front of you honestly
19:15i really don't know much about what my team is doing this is it yes looks very similar i haven't

19:23the other designers on my team i've just been too focused so we just have a wide pant off on

19:30in the same fabric what the like what am i gonna do next i need to think fast and pivot

19:37other different silhouette if i don't succeed i'm worried it might put me on the bottom
19:47so i'm looking at team lotus and it does not fit the brief that we got what's going to be

24:30editor-in-chief of el magazine nina garcia and our guest judge and co-owner of the fashion line
24:38favorite daughter sarah foster i'm so excited to see miss sarah foster she has a really good head
24:45on her shoulders around how to make a woman feel beautiful and comfortable in the clothes she's
24:49gorgeous okay we're ready let's start the show it's gonna be flaming hot
24:56i wish i had a marshmallow this got flammable hair now wait i told you it was going to be

25:14i do feel like i have successfully captured the essence of this challenge with creating something
25:20that goes from workout to weekend with the pin tucking the silhouette the styling is really good

25:31look at us now i'm very proud of this look my look looks very modern sexy and fun and the
25:39red line
25:39on the jacket is everything that is a short skirt but she's got some good legs look at us now
25:51i'm just looking at the outfit it's not as bad as i expected it to be but i know what's

26:29got it she looks amazing i've worked hard to achieve that details that those string woven
26:40by hand i cut all those holes individually it takes a lot of work to create that textile
26:45i want to make sure that every piece that i make is a labor of love i don't get that

26:55that side fin it's flowing down the runway it's got movement oh it looks so good
27:03i would wear that now i may have slayed a little bit too hard this week so
27:07i'm hoping that it can pull this team through to the wind
27:16this look is very universal this girl can do pilates and then put some heels on put a jacket on
27:23and go have a cocktail with the girl for the night i'm proud of myself it would mean a lot
27:27to win this
27:28challenge and have that collab with leah coming from the crowd i'ma set it down
27:36i'm happy with how this look turned out i feel like it's me and i'm starting to
27:41be more confident in what i'm designing and believe whatever i'm creating is good
27:45i see my look coming down the runway and i'm thinking okay yes even though i didn't choose
27:56this fabric i was able to be a team player and i think that she looks fabulous i love the

29:06myself but it's hard to tell you know it's two different vibes so i hope that the switch doesn't

31:56your look too i like her vibe it stands out it's memorable to me she's badass and flirty at the
