00:01Four astronauts embarked on a historic voyage towards the Moon on Wednesday,
00:06the first lunar mission in more than 50 years.
00:10Tens of thousands gathered near NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida
00:14to watch American astronauts Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch,
00:19along with Canadian Jeremy Hansen, launch into space.
00:23If the plan proceeds as expected, the astronauts will set a record
00:28by venturing farther from Earth than any human before.
00:32They won't pause for a stopover or orbit the Moon like Apollo 8's first lunar visitors did in 1968,
00:39but will zoom past the Moon and continue another 6,400 kilometers beyond,
00:44before making a U-turn and tearing straight home to a splashdown in the Pacific.
00:50The mission marks a series of historic accomplishments.
00:53It will send the first person of color, the first woman and the first non-American on a lunar mission.
