00:00The countdown has entered its final stage at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida as NASA prepares for a mission
00:06that will take humans further into deep space than ever before.
00:10Targeted for a liftoff as early as 1st of April, the Artemis 2 mission will send a crew of four
00:15on a 10-day voyage around the moon to test the Orion spacecraft's readiness for future lunar landings.
00:21While the crew will not touch down on the surface during this flight, they will venture thousands of kilometers further
00:27than the Apollo pioneers of the 1960s and 70s.
00:31The team is led by Commander Reed Weisman, a retired Navy captain and former NASA chief astronaut.
00:37Joining him is pilot Victor Glover, who will become the first person of color to fly to the moon,
00:42and mission specialist Christina Koch, who holds the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman.
00:48The fourth member, Jeremy Henson, a former fighter pilot and physicist, is also set to make history as the first
00:55Canadian to travel beyond low Earth orbit.
00:58The astronauts are currently in strict quarantine, reviewing emergency procedures and spending their final moments with their families.
