00:14so we've been working on a bike for a couple years now she doesn't need to be led around
00:20somebody just as crazy or crazier than she is ow not that
00:27we're going to take that bike out and build it for joan i'm not done yet here oh okay

01:15stuff we got in the back yes that's been here for two years so we've been working on a bike
01:20for a
01:21couple years now and we keep tinkering with it and finally we had the opportunity to turn it into
01:25something really cool so paul decided to take what we've already started and use it and finish it up
01:30and we're going to surprise joan with it so this is the bike i don't know you can see how
01:35much dust
01:35it's on i've been in the back room for a couple years this is the one my wife's always saying
01:39when you're going to do my chopper when you're going to do my chopper so we have time now we're
01:44pretty
01:44caught up uh she's going to come in later this is going to be surprise for saturday party she doesn't
01:51know it so she's going to come in and help me work on the like bike a little bit at
01:54least i think she's
01:55going to do that she's bringing her girlfriend that's going to be a huge distraction also i'll
02:00be giving her a surprise wedding ring i met joanie k because i was looking for a dog and through
02:08somebody else they said well she know they know this lady that runs the the shelter and um and
02:16they have a massive there and of course they said well they're going to put it down as soon as
02:21i heard
02:22that it was like no i'll take the dog you know and that's pretty much how we met you know
02:26then i started
02:27working at the shelter i dropped the tree on her car um and i got her telephone number so
02:36yeah dropping the tree on the car paid off
02:41i just bought new tires and new wheels for this oh i saw those i didn't know what you're doing
02:46i don't know if this that's good i don't know if the spacing is going to be right but they're
02:49nice
02:49looking yeah let's slide this up ready one two that should be good right yeah got this
02:57that don't seem right probably didn't need another space running around i'm thinking

04:07so we're really fortunate to have uh a painter uh right next to our shop he uh he works for

04:15and does most of his paint but he's done quite a bit of paint for us yeah you mentioned one

04:21so i mean there's three there's two right here right yeah i think we got three right here three
04:27or two the yellow the yellow is going to be blue right here this would be white
04:35you're confused yeah whatever's open will be the white this will be white correct within
04:44within that that area will be white so so this this is all going to be white correct okay
04:52so i can bring the scallops to the side here uh maybe do two more if you want full scallops

04:59nice blue it is a nice yeah very nice you want me to put a pearl over that too just

05:04pearl is stay this color but out in the sun i have a mess sparkle to it there yeah i'll
05:09do that and the
05:10color i think the color is great uh you know i wanted a powder blue uh for joan i think

05:15look really nice as a surprise bike it's the one that she's been saying well where's my bug
05:22when's my custom bike going to be done so it's going to be done i picked the colors i think

05:27love them uh and i think the bike's going to look great where's the sprocket oh god bless whoever's
05:32getting this bike and joan still does not know that that's her bike

05:45what's going on so stacy is a friend of paul and jones and myself we've known her for years i
05:50met her at
05:51gulch gym in newburgh 20 30 years ago and is always around and doing stuff with us and in our
05:56family
05:57groupings and friendship groupings so it's going to be fun to have her here working on the bike
06:01don't be excited ever ever in your life how about about what time is let me just tell you what
06:06happened don't tell me nothing don't tell me nothing it's 12 30. she was here at 11 30 out in
06:12her
06:13car it's 11 30. she got to go further than you do yeah and she still didn't have time to
06:18do her hair
06:18i don't want to do it she didn't do hair in makeup you're going to get your hair dirt you're
06:22going to
06:22get your hands dirty with that dress on here how are you why am i getting my hair i'm not
06:25getting my hands
06:25ready shut up we just stopped to visit you hi honey hi honey don't you know i kiss me on

06:34no no you're furry mustaches and needs a haircut for about three months i used to have this later

07:16i'm worried there's plenty to do so i'm gonna tell you i'm gonna tell you and don't open your mouth
07:21okay i'm gonna tell you how i met this lady here stacy so stacy is just really a true close
07:29friend
07:29she does the same thing i do she does some time still up in new york and a couple weeks
07:34down here
07:35it takes a little while to get to know stacy um she's brutally honest which is hilarious but she's
07:42close with paul literally since they're like 18. so when i got divorced with my first wife i started
07:48going to gold's gym she was 16. i just don't interrupt me okay you think she was 16 right i
07:58don't know how
07:59old i was i was younger i was 50. yeah probably was no we're not that far and uh she
08:08had a boyfriend
08:08she had a boyfriend um yeah which boyfriend was i was 19. oh you get emotional yeah i was 19.
08:18yeah yeah
08:19that was the how i'm setting up and that was my best friend ever i miss a couple of years
08:29ago
08:32stacy had uh
08:36to go out of town and jim was fighting kidney disease
08:40so i stopped by he was looking for some supplements that we all take um in the morning and i
08:46said hey
08:46jim we have to uh pick a time for dinner and he said let's do 6 30 and i can't
08:52wait for you to meet
08:53the uh dogs that are telling you all about her she wants to volunteer at the shelter and jimmy was
08:58probably the toughest guy i knew like the truest friend i think paul's had and i went to the office
09:05and uh i just said okay we'll do 6 30 at the following restaurant pulled away and stacy called
09:12me and she said jimmy fell off the deck i was like what do you mean i said i'm on
09:18my way and knowing
09:19jimmy was a pretty proud guy was really a big dude i thought like he fell so i didn't want
09:24to call an
09:25ambulance or anything because he'd be mad like he'd be really mad unfortunately jimmy had gotten a call
09:32and he got a call from the hospital and whatever they told him uh he walked out on the deck
09:38and
09:39took his life so i had to make that call to stacy so as funny and crazy and loving um
09:47as stacy is
09:49we go deep the amazing thing about stacy is they were like together since they were like 18 or 19.
09:57she's resilient she never holds back even when you want her to so she's really hilarious in a lot of
10:06ways but our relationship is deep you know we share tough times but she can handle paul better than
10:14anybody i know um when paul's being paul stacy puts paul in his place like nobody i've ever seen and
10:24uh
10:24their relationship has a truly special bond because of jimmy and i think just because they
10:29go back since she was 18 years old she's a gym rat just like him and uh they spent a
10:35lot of time
10:35together so i think she's fun i think we should have more of her on the show anyhow okay so
10:42um
10:44i don't know i was going there for a while she had a boyfriend and she wanted to marry me
10:50change that subject real quick she wanted to marry you wanted to marry me yeah yeah i followed you
10:57around the gym i drove you nuts for probably 20 years i don't even know how i'm not married to

11:03yet or my third ex-wife i felt that you were too old she was too old for me yeah
11:08too old for me that's
11:10why i'm helping him change his diaper now yeah go ahead all right what are we doing what are we

11:16well since you got them to help you out i'm gonna go check on paint help what wait what so
11:21these two can work on it yeah okay this will be interesting what am i working on you yell at
11:26me once and i'm punching you in the face and i don't know where that is that's my line i'm

11:44paul's been a part of my life i mean it's my world he's in it but at the same instance

11:51him still because he doesn't go away no matter how many years later it is he doesn't go away before

14:00bike pretty good right i mean it was crooked but it's not my fault his fault and we got to

14:06everything we did well joanie's been one of my best friends for i don't know how long they're together
14:11now i didn't do her hair today so if anyone has any critique on it it wasn't my work just
14:15so you know
14:16yeah it was it was good to see her and it was good to see her leave we were way
14:20off i guess we probably
14:21should have started with the budget before we set down uh yeah yeah so yesterday i had uh joan and
14:31stacy here which was a complete a complete interruption you know al's here today and i got drew
14:37here uh we're gonna kind of give it the old overhaul we switched out the wheels and put new wheels
14:42on
14:42there and switch out to the roadies and stuff like that but we're gonna have to take that back wheel
14:47over there but off of there and change the system because the one that came with that like a real
14:54junk system so that's got to be changed we can't center out the wheel with that the way it is
14:59and
14:59so that'll be the first thing that we'll work on is getting that wheel centered up and get that front
15:04end on alby he's already looking at the wiring so he's already having a fit they're like
15:12what's this so we'll talk we'll tighten everything up today if you guys want to put the front end on
15:20right slot the front end on can or you got to clean that wiring up for or whatever you want
15:24to do but
15:25what does he want to do put the front end on yeah but uh all right let's take this axe
15:30out and stuff
15:30ready friend
15:48you want to log it down or you want to wait until this is before you need that spacer
15:53let's lock it down in case we get mucky
16:17in my senior year my i got like suspended i don't know how many times smoking in the bathroom
16:23everything so they said they said you're not going to graduate yeah we're not going to yeah so
16:29they asked my dad to come to he comes to the school and we went down into the his office
16:34and
16:35as the principal said uh so you know i'm sorry to tell you that your son's not going to graduate
16:41this
16:41year and my father looked at him for a second he said listen he said i don't give a if
16:48he stays here
16:49until he has a beard he's graduating i graduated yeah

17:11so we were working paul and i were working on the rear end of jones bike it had a different
17:15mounting system for the caliper in the back which mounts directly to a bracket on the frame that's
17:20welded there so when we switched the rims out uh and modified some of the sizing in the back there
17:25were some issues with it so we had to figure out what we were going to do and how we
17:29were going
17:29to remi it so i wanted to get that free run and that all the way over there and then
17:33we can look
17:33and see it should work you know what i mean yep by the way it's not going to work jim
17:38it's a bad
17:39attitude well it didn't work did it it did work we we we got the new break and it's going
17:44to work so
17:45you know it'll work see it's just like a wife the first one didn't work so you try it to
17:49listen yeah
17:50that one didn't work that one didn't work so
17:54does that look about right yeah that'll work paul and i finally got the tire centered and the caliper
17:59spacing set up so we're going so we're going to mount this bracket to lock everything in place
18:05drew's going to throw some tacks on it and we should be good to go
18:20it'll only take a second to put the back tire in the front end nuts yeah and we were able
18:26to figure
18:27that out put it back together after taking it apart a couple times it fit perfect the rear fender went
18:33on there was no issues there which is very fortunate so we're going to be moving forward
18:36and i think we'll be able to finish this on time i think we had a pretty good day today
18:41you know little
18:42curves here in uh this afternoon with the rear tire and the usual stuff i guess but uh we're at
18:49the
18:50point we're starting to button it up uh i think that uh tomorrow we'll probably have it uh up and
18:56running and get out on the road and take it for a test run you know it's been a male
19:00dominated industry
19:01for quite some time i love to see you know women showing their talents and uh it's our time between
19:08casey with the artistry jen working on the eagle fran and everything she does for the community
19:14joan coming in on it uh it's been a lot of women it's great to be able to tell their
19:18stories and share
19:19what they do with everybody else i liked it before you finished it so i took this idea from a
19:26temptations
19:27album cover it was from a live show temptations yeah and then i uh incorporated abbey road and then
19:35there's six for your six kids and then if you look up in the top there's 15 bulbs but only
19:4313 are lit up
19:44for your 13 pets and then you look in each there's a couple little uh stars in there that are
19:51silver
19:51relief those are for your grandkids there's seven of them and then you have one big star right up
19:56at the front for joan for jim for joan i thought you said for jim i was gonna say get
20:03the give me the
20:04grinder he's special but not that kind of special you know what i mean glad you like it thank you
20:11so
20:12much thanks for giving me the opportunity i don't i don't hug anyone either so it'll never happen again
20:21it's just a moment it was our moment got to meet paul and you know when he came in for
20:29lunch and
20:29stuff like that and uh just so happens that i apparently am the only one who can get his orders
20:35right when he first started coming in so i became his kind of day-to-day bartender to make sure
20:41his food
20:41was always right i've known her for quite some time and knew she was an amazing artist so it was
20:46a no-brainer
20:47to bring her in on this the design is insane she's got the colors and the concept paul had mentioned
20:52to her she put her own twist on it she put some numbers in there which represent paul and joan
20:56and their families and their animals which only people who know the story are going to recognize
21:00otherwise they're just going to think it's a cool piece of the artwork uh she knocked it out it's really
21:04cool to you know go from watching him on tv to knowing him as a person and yeah you can't
21:11really
21:11judge a book by what you see on tv because he's a he's a big old teddy bear so paul
21:16called me and
21:17asked me to come to florida to help pick out a ring for my mom he had never gotten her
21:22ring yet but
21:22they've been married for a long time so he really wanted to get her a ring especially because he's
21:26building a bike for her too and he wants to surprise her with both at the same time so he
21:31asked me to
21:31come down take a look at the bike make sure everything looks good what that she would like it and
21:36help to
21:36pick out the ring that she would like do you have any idea what you're doing nope nothing you have
21:42not a clue yeah kind of you know what size she wears five five and a half yep that's a
21:50guy with a
21:51colleen deal deal um ready freddies i don't know you don't know we'll look when we get in there relax

23:43i'm just like i'm honestly asking there's like an engagement ring when you were first supposed to
23:47give a ring that you didn't do now you're getting it but you're already married so she should already
23:52have two rings a wedding band from the wedding and the engagement ring from the initial proposal
23:58so yeah she should have to the both okay it's a deal congratulations so we went ring shopping today
24:07we probably should have done this a little bit better we probably should have started with a budget
24:11when we walked in that room's got to be beaucoup bucks with a guess sorry i was just going to
24:18see
24:18about the price range before we go back over there on camera do you know about how much yeah but
24:24i'm
24:24getting i'm getting a price from this is 220 000. 220 000 yeah we're gonna have to we're gonna have

24:31talk about this 230 000 we were way off i guess we probably should have started with the budget before
24:36we said yeah so we ended up going from a five or six carat diamond down to just under a
24:44three carat
24:45diamond and got a really nice setting they gave us a great price it ended up working out really well
24:48that is nice yeah that's beautiful and it's less gaudy is what you or what do you call it
24:57this would be boozy this is boozy that is bougie done done deal all right credit card please

25:20i i uh i i was a little bit anxious about this uh for quite some time now so these
25:26guys helped me
25:27out my uh stepdaughter here uh was a big help thank god she's a big help she helps me spend

25:36that was a good one i thought she'll be happy you know what i mean i think that's gorgeous she
25:39doesn't really she doesn't really she's not like a boozy boozy a boozy she's a loser she's just not

26:01of the other one where's christian at yeah so i just think we have a lot in common al doesn't

26:10people pretty much nobody probably nobody so he likes me i don't really care if he likes anybody
26:17else he likes dogs i like dogs that clutch moving at home clutch no do i gotta go in or

26:26out out problems with the primary and the clutch not working right uh couldn't get the clutch adjusted
26:33it was too too heavy alan is like he's just tarnasic he just does not stop at anything you know
26:42and he couldn't figure it out neither i'm gonna see if i have another nut and just zipped it off
26:46thing going on well i guess i don't know you have another basket you're gonna take a whole clutch part
26:52again right well yeah in the belt yeah you're paying the ended up taking it all off throwing it away
27:00and
27:00putting a whole different setup from bdl on it we're trying to get it get it all buttoned up here
27:05we ran into a problem with the belt drive and the clutch not not adjusting right um so we ended
27:12up
27:12trashing that and we've got a bdl clutch that we're putting in now and uh we'll put that on after
27:19lunch and hopefully problems we had will go away well you probably you're probably already in already
27:24you're already in yeah i know but it was the same thing with the other one i mean we can't
27:30i can
27:30hard i i definitely keep not hitting the clutch now i'm not hitting the other side i don't believe
27:35so everything's new that even the nut everything that holds it everything is new we didn't use one
27:43piece of the other one where's christian at yeah they keep coming in this is this is his this is
27:52his
27:53specialty you want me to check with him or leave him alone so paul called me up he said he
27:58had a
27:58problem he needed me to get there right away perfect timing what are you guys doing how are you
28:05good you good to see you hey paul hey al we're uh all right troubleshooting we're we're changing
28:13having a nascar drill on clutch nascar what on and off on and off on and off like tire change

28:19oh we put a brand new belt drive on there it's still not working wait this is what this is

28:25right yeah what's wrong with it you can't we just can't get the the the adjustments it was hanging
28:33up but at the lever you mean it's hanging up tight tight so we changed the whole belt drive because
28:41if he didn't come in help alan us uh we'd still be working on the bike
28:47good yeah all right let me see
28:53yeah i told you i said early what'd i say earlier change that umbrella did i tell you that right
29:02after
29:02you said you loved me you said to change the umbrella we had it happen before we did we had
29:07and we spent
29:13hours hey al you great give me a longer screwdriver we got well yeah so right now we're just basically
29:30cleaning the bike up a little bit and i think that pretty much we're ready to drop it down see
29:36if she
29:39starts
29:40and we got it all squared away and rode rode pretty good
30:09it's been cool man this you know these past six bikes it's been a trip we've had a lot of
30:14laughs
30:14you know some fun times it's great to see paul again i'm glad he reached out and asked me to
30:19be a part of this you know it's a big thing man it's something to be proud of
30:24yeah so tomorrow morning i'm gonna go pick up the diamond check it out make sure everything's good and
30:27we're gonna head up to the house and surprise her she thinks everyone's coming over for her birthday but
30:31little does she know a bike and a new ring are coming so i'm really excited to see what she
30:36thinks about both the other day i was in the shop and they showed me something they said what do
30:42you
30:42think and i said i don't like blue
31:05hold it here and it opens this one i would open it the other way i know
31:10it's already 3 10 by 3 45 start to get the bikes what happens around four good job all right
31:15let's
31:16see you i'll i'll take care of her sometimes you might say it's a love it might be a love
31:21hate relationship but you know the the bottom line is um she's always been there for me you know about
31:27two weeks ago paul said i have to talk to you you just know like as a as a wife
31:32right when your
31:33husband says i have to talk to you it's usually not good and he said okay so here's the deal
31:37there's
31:38like 120 people coming and uh i don't know what i'm supposed to do or what we're supposed to do
31:43and
31:43i said where are they coming assuming that we were going to do it at occ and he said no
31:48they they
31:48wanted to do it at the house i said paul we live on a farm we don't have parking where
31:53would you put
31:54120 people at a small farmhouse you know so actually it was pretty funny because he's like well
32:00i just know that you always figure stuff out so this whole thing um was probably the biggest stress
32:05bomb dropped on me did anybody see the liquor guy seriously the liquor guy oh everybody's in panic
32:12over here right yeah everybody's starting to shake he said he's gonna be here it's also uh in 90 days
32:21we've had three days of rain it's a dirt fest so you're not getting out of here with clean feet

32:26all i can tell you i'll be right back all right i'm gonna bring i'm gonna bring the bike back

32:54there were so many people from various parts of my life you know there were people here friends of
33:00mine from when i was 14 and 15. it was definitely moving i think as you move on in life

33:07i think that you really appreciate relationships and good people um and to look around today my my
33:13friends from down here it was awesome feeling to just see all these people from all walks of life
33:18here you know to celebrate with us i just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to celebrate
33:24her birthday uh she really appreciates it i know a lot of people traveled long and far to be here
33:29and we actually have something that we wanted to share paul is actually has a surprise for her so joan
33:35mom mom i'll let her do the thanking herself as well thank you guys this is amazing i really um
33:45can't i look around and i see all these people from different walks of my congress in the back
33:54so actually uh we all know each other since we are 14 years old back there we've made some great
34:00new
34:01friends down here as well we have some of our friends that came in from back home in new york
34:06over here upstate new york so when i look around i see all the facets of our life and and
34:12all of the
34:13people that have come out today and i can't thank you enough because it's been awesome and we're having
34:17a great time and i hope you're having a great time too and don't worry more liquors on the way
34:23but in
34:24the meantime since we're holding out on that you can take a step this way there's a surprise for you
34:46so so the best is happy birthday thanks i had no clue like honestly jim was showing

35:14it does look good actually really good she keeps asking where are my choppers all the time where's my
35:20chopper and we've been uh you know doing the show and we've been like really busy i really like the
35:24bike i think that my mom's gonna like it i love the color i love the gas tank i love
35:28everything about
35:29it i like that it's low to the ground it's an easy ride um just kind of waiting for when
35:33he's gonna
35:34build me one just like it i just figured this would be a good birthday present yeah
35:41by the way i like that color blue
35:45i really screwed up on that one last week so i'm not done yet here
35:52so we we spent a lot of time riding bikes together every day and um so
36:00i can't help it i just think it's funny but um but so we used to ride past the um
36:10the justice of the peace every day you know and every once in a while we would like look
36:16really like look over there and we'd both say no no that's not happening man never again never again
36:23so one day um they had a cell they had remember they had the cell it was a cell on
36:30marriage license
36:31so anyhow we said i'm gonna say she said let's go but she's gonna tell you that i said let's
36:39go
36:40but anyhow so yeah so we go in there we fill out the papers real quick sign her name get
36:46up there i do
36:47you do and and there was like a plastic bouquet of flowers in the vase and i gave her that
36:56and uh we we uh we went to lunch and that was like yeah we never really uh had a
37:01wedding uh or
37:03anything like that you know so i figured i'd get you something i figured i'd get you something
37:13wow is it blue i can't open it your daughter showed me how to open this there it is oh
37:23my god
37:25thank you that's beautiful
37:39i love it thank you like it
37:43i do thank you so i just want to say that i really love my wife
37:48but what i like more about her that she puts up with me thanks for coming everybody i appreciate it
37:58and definitely had no clue about the ring he did a pretty good job on that today
38:04um ring bike come on he worked hard at it so i got to give him a couple of points
38:09a motorcycle and a
38:10ring holy cow it must be special that's for sure well thank you again for all of you being here

38:20be a part of this figured that uh my daughter sam probably had a hand in this but i was
38:25like there's
38:26no way that he does by himself for paul getting this ring honestly was a surprise to me because he's
38:33not really romantic i pick out the christmas gifts the birthday gifts forget valentine's day
38:37he doesn't even remember when it is so this to me when he asked me to come and do it
38:40i was like
38:41all right that's really nice for my mom because he doesn't do a lot of nice things like that like
38:44he's he'd give her the shirt off his back but he definitely doesn't think proactively on gifts or
38:49things like holidays so it was really nice thanks for coming and let's go have a good time
38:56i'm on a farm so there so maybe what they'll do is me feeding lines and then come to that
39:01my daughter's
39:01like oh my god i told you to get a manicure oh my god your feet are filthy i'm like
39:04well i have been
39:05out on a farm all day like they're not going to be clean show us the ring
39:16very pretty it was so funny because you go to all these unveils reveals and like you can't wait
39:22to see like what the people's response are you know i think it's a gift that paul has always had
39:28i think uh i think she liked it i think she liked the ring you know happy days right
39:34big big rock no it was nice paul did a good job the bike is beautiful the ring came out

39:41didn't you know didn't lose it which was amazing also and uh on all a great day with some great
39:45friends
39:45and family i mean it's a great day weather's perfect you know everyone here the love is in the air
39:51and good vibes he's breaking his chops i said to him you know what just thought on me you never
39:57came
39:58and asked me for my daughter's hand in marriage yeah well i think the main thing she was surprised
40:05that's for sure um yeah so i think it was good i think it was good i'm not like i
40:11don't know i'm not
40:12really good at that kind of stuff you know so um so i did pretty good for not being so
40:19good at it
40:19very nice celebration and we were happy to be a part of it very happy and i wish you all

40:53close that one surreal that's surreal what a season if you told me 20 years ago that we would
40:59have been doing this i i don't know i guess i probably would have believed it because we do crazy
41:04stuff so doing six bikes in such a short period of time and then being filmed all day while you're
41:11doing it it's a little frustrating a little hectic uh but it's a challenge we all took on when we
41:16started this the great thing about doing it this time is paul owns 100 of the show the editing the
41:21production the stories come from the customer and paul so it's occ his way and our way because it's a
41:28team effort when you see the bike finished and the unveil it's worth it
