00:00Let's wrap it up with the state of New York trying to propose some biometrics to make sure that kids
00:06who are underage are not placing bets illegally and watching certain deposit numbers as well.
00:13This is not a novel idea.
00:14It's just an idea that we're seeing if they can actually implement, correct?
00:20Correct.
00:20This is an idea actually proposed by Governor Kathy Hochul of New York, who is concerned, like every big lawmaker
00:27seems to be right now, about betting, specifically underage betting.
00:31So what she's asked the New York Gaming Commission to do is create these new rules where you have stronger
00:37safeguards.
00:37You know, it's harder to get into account where you have to, you know, give a thumbprint to get in
00:42as opposed to a password, as opposed to all these, you know, login connections that you have.
00:47And also institute some more rules that would automatically trigger problem gambling safeguards for people.
00:53Like when someone deposits over $10,000 in 24 hours, automatically put them on a list.
00:59When someone has visited the problem gambling page five times in one day, automatically put them on a list.
01:04So it's some more of these responsible safeguards that would be triggered by people's actions, which I actually think is
01:09a good thing here.
01:10Whether or not the industry actually lets that happen and it passes is another thing we'll have to see.
01:15But it is encouraging so far to see a state like New York coming back to the drawing board with
01:20at least some sensible measures to address some of these really big issues in the space right now.
