00:21The proposal calls for protection of civilians and critical infrastructure
00:25as well as securing shipping lanes and safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
00:31Both countries said any lasting peace must be based on the UN Charter and international law.
00:37Pakistan has positioned itself as a potential mediator
00:40and says it is ready to host talks between the United States and Iran.
00:44China, meanwhile, has kept a careful distance from the conflict
00:48despite its close ties with Tehran and its role as the largest buyer of Iranian oil.
