00:11In an interview with Britain's Daily Telegraph, Trump described the alliance as a paper tiger
00:16and said withdrawal was now beyond reconsideration.
00:20His comments come after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would re-examine its ties with NATO
00:27after the conflict following restrictions by European countries on U.S. military access to bases and airspace.
00:35So I think there's no doubt, unfortunately, after this conflict is concluded, we are going to have to re-examine
00:41that relationship.
00:42We're going to have to re-examine the value of NATO and that alliance for our country.
00:45Ultimately, that's a decision for the president to make, and he'll have to make it.
00:49European leaders have refused to take part in military action against Iran,
00:53even rejecting U.S. calls to deploy naval forces to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
00:59They stress that the conflict is not a NATO matter and have warned against widening it.
