08:16Target secure.
08:17Repeat.
08:18Target secure.
08:22If not now, Mum.
08:32Mum, Secretary, that's not what I asked.
08:33So I asked it the third time.
08:35Isn't this ultimately a bid for number 10?
08:37Andrew, if we're serious about protecting ourselves from the threats of artificial intelligence
08:42and those who would use it against us, then this government cannot afford to rest.
08:46And that means smarter surveillance, smarter borders, smarter elections.
08:51Yes, I get the idea.
08:52You're refusing to answer my question, and we are out of time.
08:55Mum, Secretary, good afternoon.
08:57Thank you, Andrew.
08:58And the time now is just past 12.
09:01You're under carry.
09:03Home Secretary.
09:07Operation Veritas is ready.
09:17Whatever happens, don't look at the camera.
09:20Reid is nervous.
09:21Yes, thank you.
09:21It's not my first time in a studio.
09:23Well, it's the first time in a hot seat.
09:24Two minutes to air, everyone.
09:25Two minutes.
09:25Two minutes.
09:27Line up on guests, please.
09:29Excuse me.
09:30I need to speak to her before we go on.
09:32I have been asking.
09:32Oh, yes.
09:33I haven't forgotten.
09:34They know you're here to talk about Kerry Cams, not the inquiry.
09:36Smart Cams.
09:37What are you doing?
09:38It's BTS for social.
09:39Kerry Cams is getting more traction.
09:40Yes, because you keep pushing it.
09:41If I have to sit through one more talk on inclusivity, I'm going to exclude myself
09:45to take those podcast people up on their offer.
09:47Kerry Cams.
09:47Can you take this for me, please?
09:49Rachel.
09:5030 seconds.
09:51So glad we can make this happen.
09:52I'm bloody thrilled you're getting the recognition you deserve.
09:55Something wrong with your phone.
09:56Were we supposed to have lunch?
09:57What happened to the rest of your expose?
09:59Well, you saw the follow-up.
10:00A little light, wasn't it?
10:01Whose flask is this?
10:02And what the fuck is it doing unto my death?
10:05Whose flask is this?
10:06That's where Greensboro you are for, Khadija.
10:07Oh, sir.
10:07Oh, well, thank you.
10:08You left out half the evidence.
10:10What are you saving it for, Khadija?
10:11The book deal.
10:12Rachel, please.
10:13It's called legal in compliance.
10:15Get used to it.
10:17Five, four, three, two, one.
10:22Good evening.
10:22I'm Khadija Khan.
10:24Or am I?
10:26Twelve months on from the BBC's award-winning report on Britain's deepfake evidence scandal,
10:32questioning everything we see has become a national habit.
10:36So how do we begin to sort fact from fiction?
10:39And who do we trust with the job?
10:41Well, how about the woman who blew the whistle on correction herself?
10:44Giving her first interview as head of SO15, another exclusive whistleblower-turned-commander,
10:51Rachel Carey joins me live in the studio.
10:55Scout's honour.
10:56Good evening, Khadija.
10:57It's acting commander.
10:59Was blowing the whistle your only option?
11:03Uh, um, no.
11:05I could have turned a blind eye to what I saw and kept my head down.
11:09But you didn't.
11:09Why?
11:10I believed the best way to stop the correction programme was to go public with it.
11:14The question I'm asking, commander, is why you?
11:17Why were you the one to take it down?
11:20Uh, I suppose it's hard for some people.
11:23You know, some people have families and I, um, I just felt I should do it.
11:30Was there a degree of self-interest?
11:33Look at that.
11:34I mean, blowing the whistle hasn't exactly done your career much damage, has it?
11:37I mean, a year ago, you were a thorn in the side of SO15 and now you're commander.
11:42Khadija, when I exposed correction, I wasn't thinking about my career.
11:45I was risking it.
11:46Well, it was a risk that paid off.
11:48You must admit, you've done rather well since then.
11:51With all the exclusives you've been getting, you haven't done too badly yourself.
11:55Too short.
11:56Well, your expose has already led to a number of convictions being overturned, starting with
12:00that of former soldier Sean Emery.
12:03Were you glad to see him released?
12:05I was.
12:06But Sean Emery is just the start.
12:09We don't know the scale of correction in the UK, which is why we need a public inquiry.
12:13Well, Lord Justice Fredrickson starts calling witnesses to his long-awaited inquiry from
12:17tomorrow.
12:18Do you think the finger of blame will point to British intelligence or further afield?
12:24You've seen the same evidence I have, Khadija.
12:26Are you hopeful that Lord Fredrickson will get to the truth?
12:30I hope that the people who know the truth will do the right thing, come forward and testify
12:35so we can begin to understand how many people in the UK have been put behind bars on deep
12:40fake evidence.
12:41If it turns out to be hundreds of violent offenders, will they all be released?
12:46Khadija, the question you're asking is essentially the same one you asked at the beginning.
12:51How do we sort fact from fiction and put an end to deep fake evidence?
12:56Well, I'm very excited to announce that in partnership with the Home Office, I'm developing
13:00a new kind of CCTV camera.
13:02The question I'm asking is, are we about to see a tsunami of serious offenders let out
13:07onto our streets?
13:09If incriminating footage is found to have been faked, the defendant will be entitled to a
13:15retrial.
13:15If the conviction cannot be upheld, then they may be released.
13:20As commander of counter-terrorism, public safety is my first priority.
13:24But I will not break the law to defend the law.
13:27And I will not put people away under false evidence.
13:32Thank you very much, Commander Rachel Carey.
13:38Why didn't you tell us?
13:40It was just work.
13:42Bollocks.
13:43Were you nervous?
13:44I'd shit myself.
13:46Did you shit yourself?
13:46Abigail, commander of SO-15 does not shit herself.
13:52So?
13:53What did you think?
13:54I didn't see it.
13:56I just saw the comments.
13:57What comments?
13:58Oh, no, I'd rather not know.
14:01Yeah, right, whatever.
14:02Why, what would they say?
14:03You're basically a celebrity now?
14:07Any idea if Dad saw it?
14:09Are you mad?
14:09You go to bed at night.
14:11Can you get tables and restaurants now?
14:13I think I could do that anyway.
14:16Actually, I could squeeze in a drink on my way home.
14:19With me?
14:20Well, I mean, I've got to be up early in the morning, but, you know, it's not every day.
14:25You give your first interview on the show.
14:27Oh, you sound...
14:29I'm actually a bit busy.
14:30Can we do another time?
14:32Sure, yeah.
14:33Go for it, I didn't realise.
14:34Have a good...
14:35Have a good...
14:36Yeah.
14:37Yeah.
14:39Is he?
14:40Yeah.
14:41Yeah.
15:06Oh, could I?
15:07I didn't know.
15:49I would delete that one.
15:50What the fuck are you doing here?
15:52You might have found a way to make cameras safe, but doors, not so much.
15:56Get out of my home.
15:58Your home?
16:00I would have figured this for a rental.
16:03Don't worry, you won't find it.
16:04Many personal touches rather than my digs either.
16:09I could clear out of there in 20 minutes.
16:10You'd never know I was there.
16:12And yet you linger.
16:14You don't like me very much, do you, Fast Track?
16:16I'm not used to seeing you without blood on your hands.
16:22What do you want, Frank?
16:25Ten half a problem and a $12 bottle of Sketch.
16:28Shouldn't you be drinking fine single malt by now?
16:35So you're on TV.
16:38You did good.
16:40I have notes.
16:41If you've got something to say, sir.
16:42You never mentioned the U.S.
16:43Is that a note?
16:44No, no, no.
16:45No, we like that.
16:46No, don't change anything about that.
16:49No, one year.
16:50There's still nothing linking the CIA and correction.
16:55You plan on keeping your mouth shut at the inquiry, too?
16:58There is a big difference between keeping my mouth shut and not having enough evidence against you.
17:04Well, we all know you're brave, Fast Track.
17:06You're not suicidal.
17:08You were smart to make that deal.
17:10What deal?
17:11You used my app to expose the British program.
17:15Now, if that had happened on my watch without my authorization, that would have made you an enemy of the
17:20state and me an asshole.
17:21So, when the agency bundles you into a van and starts asking you questions, remember, we have a deal.
17:33And why would I do you a favor?
17:35So, I can owe you one.
17:37Never know.
17:39You may need a favor from a guy like me one day.
17:46Oh.
17:48I heard you call it Russian.
17:51Keep up the good work.
17:55What's your interest?
17:57Jesus Christ.
17:58Can't a person pay a compliment?
18:00You're always fishing for intel.
18:03Garland was right.
18:04I'm afraid you're wasted as a cop.
18:14Big day.
18:15Lots of interest in the Careycam launch.
18:16We've got ITN, BBC, Sky News, GP News, Al Jazeera, plus all the major UK broadsheets and tabloids.
18:23Oh, and the email on Sunday Magazine.
18:2415 minutes and a photoshoot.
18:26Photoshoot?
18:26Fine.
18:27They're doing a profile piece.
18:28Powerful woman, young, single.
18:30What?
18:30Who's sizzling?
18:31What the hell has my relationship status got to do with anything?
18:34Fine.
18:34The headline being, you know, first female head of counterterrorism.
18:36I'm not the first female head of counterterrorism.
18:38It's just a headline.
18:39It's not the truth.
18:40Oh, who's truth?
18:42What?
18:44Do you have a preference which side of the stage the podium goes?
18:47I think it makes more sense on the right, but then if we want the Careycam in the middle
18:52then...
18:52Paige, I trust you to make these crucial decisions by yourself.
19:07Tom.
19:09I need you to pull all the camera feeds from my building from 9 till 12 last night.
19:13Your building?
19:14I'm going to check for interference.
19:16Anything in particular I'm looking for.
19:18Amanda Carey.
19:19Deputy Commissioner.
19:20Two minutes.
19:22Sir.
19:24Check your phone.
19:33Come in.
19:34We won't keep you in our house.
19:35I'm rushed off your feet, you must be.
19:36I'm not too rushed off my feet, sir.
19:38Commissioner, good morning.
19:39Rachel, how are you feeling about this afternoon?
19:42Something happening this afternoon, sir.
19:44I'll be glad to get the launch out of the way, sir, to be honest.
19:46Well, we're all tremendously excited.
19:49Now, I know that your annual review isn't for another few weeks, but this felt like more
19:55of a milestone to, well, express our profound gratitude.
20:01You've given SO-15 a clean bill of health, Rachel, in under a year.
20:06Sir, it's a work in progress.
20:07Operation Carry Cam is going to be the icing on the cake.
20:10Operation Veritas Smart Cam.
20:12I really appreciate the timing of the launch, Rachel.
20:14So need distraction from the Frederikson inquiry.
20:16I'm not responsible for the scheduling of the press launch.
20:19Well, we want to make it crystal clear, Rachel.
20:21You will continue to be the brand ambassador for these cameras, even when the new command begins.
20:29I didn't realize one had been selected.
20:32We're very close.
20:33May I ask?
20:34I'll introduce them as soon as their batting is complete.
20:37The security process has had to be very rigorous, as I'm sure you can imagine.
20:41I had thought I'd be involved in that.
20:44Yeah, but then you put yourself forward.
20:45Conflict of interest.
20:46You asked me to put myself forward.
20:48There'll be other opportunities, Rachel.
20:51Ultimately, we felt that the department could benefit from somebody with more experience at multi-agency level.
20:59Some are more used to collaborating with other entities.
21:02Sir, I was hired to turn SO-15 around.
21:06I could only do that by hiring people I trust.
21:08And you've done a formidable job, Rachel.
21:11You are already the youngest acting commander of SO-15.
21:15You'll get there.
21:17Sir.
21:19I look forward to being relieved of my PR duties so I can concentrate on the real work.
21:24We'd like you to continue with your public facing commitments.
21:27Absolutely.
21:28All those hours of media training haven't gone to waste.
21:30Oh, congrats, by the way.
21:31I heard you gave Khadija Khan a bit of a kicking.
21:33Paige did a great job.
21:36So just to be clear, you'd like me to be the face of the department, but not the head.
21:57You found him, then?
21:59Any concerns?
22:01Frank Napier paying you a visit in the middle of the night.
22:03I'd say that was a concern.
22:05Did the system flag anything?
22:06He's made no attempt to hide himself.
22:07What did he want?
22:09Shall I leave this with you, Mum, or on your desk?
22:12I came to you this morning.
22:13It's clear security.
22:14See what it is.
22:16It's a good thing, Mum.
22:18The CIA can't hack us.
22:22Do you ever worry this is all been too easy?
22:27Wouldn't you think who wanted us to fail the depth they'd go to to try and stop us?
22:31They've left us alone until now.
22:34You want me to put eyes on Napier?
22:37I'm not talking about Frank.
22:40We're getting a new commander.
22:43He was wrong, Mum.
22:46Any ideas?
22:47Someone more used to collaborating with other entities, apparently.
22:50Good grief.
22:51Looks like a good one, Mum.
23:01We're eyes on Napier.
23:13The truth about correction may finally be coming.
23:17As the long-awaited Fredrickson inquiry calls its first witnesses.
23:23That's right, Khadija.
23:24Lord Justice Fredrickson has indeed promised a full and unflinching inquiry into the deepfake scandal.
23:37And he starts off on the front of the foot, calling as his first witness the former counter-terrorism commander,
23:43Damien Hart.
23:44Come on, T-Rex.
23:45Come on, T-Rex.
23:46Come on, T-Rex.
23:49Come on, T-Rex.
23:52Come on, T-Rex.
23:53Come on, T-Rex.
23:55Come on, T-Rex.
23:56Come on, T-Rex.
23:57Come on, T-Rex.
23:57Come on, T-Rex.
24:00Many people feel that he is a key witness in this investigation.
24:03Ed?
24:04Have you just seen that?
24:05Fuck the Frederickson inquiry!
24:07Natasha, wrap it up.
24:08You're covering the Operation Veritas press launch.
24:11But for now, back to you in the studio, Khadija.
24:14Thank you, Natasha.
24:16Where's the fucking press launch?
24:19No, you're the first person I told.
24:22If you put down the phone to Alistair and picked it up to you,
24:25I'm not the first person in the message, how about that?
24:28No.
24:31Yeah, yeah.
24:33Yeah, yeah.
24:34Listen, Simi, I'd better go.
24:36Okay?
24:37I love you.
24:47I saw a woman on the news last night that looked just like you.
24:50Really?
24:51Hmm.
24:52I can be sure these days.
24:54Was it?
24:55Me?
24:56Depends.
24:57How'd she come across?
24:59In a word?
25:00Unprofessional?
25:02No.
25:03Unbroadcastable?
25:05Real.
25:10Oh, well, Simi.
25:13Oh.
25:14Are you?
25:15Yeah.
25:18I'm really pleased to hear that.
25:20Oh, well.
25:21I've given it a go.
25:24Well, looks like it's working.
25:32What is it?
25:33Don't try and tell me that family life makes you this happy.
25:36Oh, yeah.
25:36No, it's a bit more than that.
25:37No.
25:39As it's you.
25:41Won't stay off the record for long, anyhow.
25:45The PM's not standing for re-election.
25:48A leadership contest?
25:50Well, it won't be much of a contest so far.
25:52There's only one candidate with enough support for a bid.
25:55A coronation.
25:56Aha.
25:56Does have a whiff of the Gordon Brown about it when you feel like that.
25:59That explains the high turnout.
26:01They're all expecting a statement.
26:03Might be a little more so.
26:06While looking at the next PM.
26:07Yeah.
26:10I'm not getting any help this time, Rachel.
26:13Not like that.
26:14There's no dark web data analytics.
26:16No Gregory Knox.
26:17I know.
26:19That's what you did for me.
26:20For you.
26:22I didn't do it for you.
26:24That's not why I did it.
26:25Oh, of course.
26:26It's still hardly the shabbiest of outcomes.
26:30Me in number 10.
26:31You running counter-terrorism.
26:35It's not going to be me.
26:36I assumed you knew.
26:39Oh, fucking idiots, Rachel.
26:41They're their own worst enemies.
26:42I made history.
26:44The youngest commander of SO-15.
26:46Acting commander.
26:47What better way to show the department's cleaned up its act
26:50than putting you in charge?
26:53Not that that would be the only reason, obviously.
26:57Panic over.
26:58Figured I had to have the podium on the right
26:59and the carry cam in the middle.
27:01Battery supply to the carry cam.
27:07It's almost one.
27:11It's almost one.
27:14In the wake of the deep fake evidence scandal,
27:17it is now imperative for British justice
27:19to interrogate the dangers of video manipulation.
27:23And indeed, the wider threat posed by artificial intelligence
27:27to the very tenets of our society.
27:29Now, Mr. Hart, as former head of counter-terrorism,
27:33we appreciate your cooperation in this most urgent endeavor.
27:38Glad to help in any way, I can, sir.
27:40When did you first become aware of the correction program, Mr. Hart?
27:48With respect, Lord Fredrickson, for reasons of national security,
27:51I am unable to answer that question in the context of an open hearing.
28:10And if I were to allow you to testify in a private hearing, is there any guarantee you'll be more
28:17forthcoming in your answers?
28:19With respect, Lord Fredrickson, for reasons of national security, I am unable to answer that question in the context of
28:24an open hearing.
28:24I am unable to answer that question.
28:26Operation Veritas Smart Camera Press Packs will be available at the end of this presentation.
28:31Kevin, get the camera on the fucking tripod.
28:33Please welcome to the stage, Acting Commander Rachel Carey.
28:46As deepfakes have become easier to create and harder to detect, the question has become more urgent.
28:54How can we trust what we see?
28:56Operation Veritas sees the launch of a new kind of CCTV camera.
29:01A smart surveillance cam designed to detect cyber attacks and correction in real time.
29:08Each smart camera has two lenses.
29:11One feeds a signal to our encrypted network, the other to the camera's hard drive,
29:16which records internally offline and so cannot be hacked.
29:19The system flags any discrepancies between the two signals as suspected interference.
29:33If we need reminding of the threat to our country, in a recent trial, our smart cameras flagged a blacklisted
29:40foreign national trying to enter the UK under a deepfake identity.
29:45Given his links to Russian military intelligence, we can only wonder how close we may have come to another Salisbury
29:51-level disaster.
29:53Fortunately, Operation Veritas caught correction in the act.
30:04The Home Secretary's Smarter Surveillance Bill would see Operation Veritas rolled out across the UK, creating a nationwide camera network
30:13we can rely on.
30:17How can we trust what we see?
30:19It starts with Smarter Surveillance.
30:31Now, I'm sure you're all eager to hear from the Home Secretary, so please do join me in welcoming to
30:36the stage a man no stranger to deepfakes himself, Isaac Turner.
30:50He's spoken to the Prime Minister this afternoon, Home Secretary.
30:53There's going to be a leadership contest.
30:55Are you about to take his job, Home Secretary?
30:57OK, OK, OK.
30:58I'm told Kerry Camps is trending already.
31:01What's trending is you as the next Prime Minister.
31:04OK, OK.
31:04OK.
31:17Veritas, signal down, sir.
31:19Run diagnostics, find the fault.
31:20This new system is a truly remarkable evolution surveillance technology.
31:25And none of this would be possible if it wasn't for the moral courage, conviction, dedication, and leadership of Rachel
31:36Kent.
31:36We've lost it.
31:37Coming to three.
31:38Go to Khadija.
31:40Well, we do apologise.
31:42Go back to the Federalist Inquiry.
31:43Natasha, can you hear me?
31:47And I refuse to call her Acting Commander of SO15.
31:50She's definitely not acting.
31:54Commander.
31:56Rachel Carey.
32:28Shots fired.
32:29Play turn response.
32:30T6-6, active shooter in the building.
32:32Top floor.
32:32Lock down the QE2.
32:33Heat lock down the QE2.
32:39Tier 1, protected asset is down.
32:43Ground 4-0?
32:45Get down!
32:46Stay down!
32:47Everyone, remain where you are until otherwise instructed.
32:50This is a crime scene, and you are all eyewitnesses.
32:52Page until back of the rise, contain everyone in this room.
32:56Um, if everyone could just stay where you are, please, and everything is under control.
33:04We'll take you back there as soon as we can.
33:06Dasha, can you hear me?
33:09Can I get an OB trot at the QE2? Quickly, please.
33:14All units be advised, suspect is white male 601 media built, armed with a semi-automatic handgun, other weaponry unknown.
33:20Kilo 1 control.
33:2112 Kilo 1.
33:22Tom.
33:23All eyes down, ma'am. Every camera in the building is offline, including ours.
33:26Is CTC compromised?
33:27Ma'am, the disruption is taking place locally.
33:39Officer down. Repeat, Officer down.
33:45Officer down.
33:49Active Shooter in the Southwest corridor left to send...
33:51Get these cameras back up!
33:53With access.
33:54To what? To even go?
33:56To all. Please stay where you are.
33:59If you insist on trying to defer every answer to a private hearing, may I ask what is the
34:05point of holding a public one?
34:07It's always out of question, sir.
34:09Let me guess.
34:10For reasons of national security, you are unable to answer the question.
34:14Forgive me, Lord Fredrickson. May I be excused?
34:17Excused?
34:18Let me rephrase that. I'm off.
34:21Reasons of national security.
34:25Some news just breaking.
34:27Reports are coming in of a disturbance in central London.
34:32Excuse me, ladies. Let's clear back. Please, can you clear back?
34:36Sergeant, warm according to this one.
34:37This one should be virtually picked away from you. Do I understand?
34:40Officer, get these people out there.
34:43Oh, to the other side of the street. Boys, clear this area. Get the people back.
34:57Suspect is in the southwest corridor lift of the QE2 descending.
35:06George.
35:08Garth.
35:09Sorry, falls ahead.
35:10Garth's still far by me, George. Where's the S.I.O.?
35:12One of the carriers in the building.
35:17You've got a spare vest.
35:19I'll allow it.
35:21Come on, George. Don't let me bring my Bournemouth.
35:24Get the governor of this.
35:32Get back! Come on, get back!
35:40I'll allow it.
35:42Come on, go, girl.
35:44George.
35:47Goodbye, brother.
35:49Ornoneером.
35:50Cекрет.
35:52Goodbye.
35:57Bye-bye.
35:59Bye-bye.
36:00Bye-bye.
36:13This is going down.
36:33Suspects on the move. Lower ground level.
36:55Movement underground parking.
37:08Commander Kerry, SSFG.
37:11Stand down, it's the SIO.
37:15Apologies, ma'am.
37:26Commander Kerry, have you locked down the Palace of Westminster?
37:30What?
37:32Parliament is in session.
37:33There are reports of gunfire in the vicinity.
37:36Have you locked down the Palace of Westminster?
37:38Parliamentary Protection Officers deploy,
37:40but the order has to come from you.
37:46You are running, SO15.
38:00What are you doing here?
38:03I was in the area.
38:06Camera's back on line.
38:11What the fuck?
38:16When did you last have eyes on, ma'am?
38:18Level two. I thought you came down in the lift, but you might have got out of there.
38:21I've got armed units on every level, ma'am.
38:23Not on level two, you don't know any more.
38:26Sweep the building floor to floor.
38:28Ma'am.
38:29Patrol killer one.
38:30And call Parliamentary Protection Officers.
38:34Look down the Palace of Westminster.
38:36What?
38:37Go ahead.
38:38CCTV in the buildings back up and running, ma'am.
38:40Like it was never down.
38:41What can you see?
38:43Carnage.
38:43But no sign of a shooter.
38:45Do you trust the feats?
38:46Still no indication of correction, ma'am.
38:49No one's hacked our feats.
38:50As far as I can tell, they just knocked out the power supply and swords.
38:55It's sabotage, alright, but I wouldn't call it sophisticated.
38:57It's good to know it doesn't take a genius to humiliate us.
39:03He's not in the building.
39:05What makes you say that?
39:11CCTV's up and running.
39:13He doesn't need it.
39:14He's gone.
39:15Widen the search area.
39:16Suspect may have fled the QE2.
39:18We've had eyes on every exit.
39:20Tactical units surrounding the building.
39:21Tactical may have missed something.
39:23Widen the search.
39:24Search teams will need a smudge.
39:28And escort the civilian to safety.
39:33Parliament is on lockdown this afternoon following reports of an armed attack in Westminster.
39:39Police are responding.
39:42You're welcome.
39:43Where Home Secretary Isaac Turner was giving a press conference is the focal point of the attack.
39:59No one is to use their phone or devices until otherwise instructed.
40:03Please remain in this area until the tactical commander has cleared the building for evacuation.
40:08No one is to leave until they've given a witness statement and submitted all video evidence for review.
40:13The sooner we can review it, the sooner we can release it.
40:17Mum.
40:17We need a smudge of the shooter.
40:19We're on it.
40:20They should all have it.
40:21The live broadcast was cut but then cameras were still recording.
40:24I got him.
40:26His face.
40:27Blink and you missed him.
40:28But I got him.
40:29OK.
40:29Right.
40:29Front of the line.
40:31Paige.
40:31Are you OK?
40:32What did you see?
40:33I saw Isaac Turner's head turn off.
40:35And the shooter, did you see him?
40:36No.
40:39We're getting a lot of that, Mum.
40:41If you work up the brightness, it should be alright.
40:44Quick as you can.
40:45We need that smudge.
40:46Rachel.
40:47Sir, liaison officers are on their way to inform the families.
40:49As soon as Simone Turner's been spoken to, you're clear to make a statement.
40:52Whoever did this, cut the live broadcast and sabotaged the CCTV, I would advise against any comms until we know
40:58what we're dealing with.
40:59And leave an information vacuum.
41:01If you give people a blank page, they'll start colouring it in.
41:04Is this racially motivated, Rachel?
41:07I'm extremely anxious.
41:08We're not ruling anything else, sir.
41:10First black British PM.
41:12Gunned down by a lone wolf.
41:13Sounds racially motivated to me.
41:15PM?
41:16In waiting.
41:17I didn't say the suspect was a lone wolf.
41:19Single shooter, I understood.
41:20This wasn't the work of some crazed fanatic.
41:22This was a professional assassin.
41:24If I was the PM, I'd be anxious.
41:26This was hostile state actors, foreign or domestic.
41:29Well, all levels clear.
41:31No choice of the suspect.
41:32So he has escaped the building, you agree?
41:35We've had eyes on every exit point.
41:37So he hasn't left the building and he's not in the building.
41:40Is that what you're trying to mean?
41:42That might help if we had more to go on besides white male, six foot one, medium build.
41:47White male, six foot one, medium build, late thirties, forties, clean shaven, dark brown eyes, short dark hair,
41:53last seen wearing a black zip up sports top, black utility trousers and black approach shoes.
41:59You've got a good look at him though.
42:00Must have been close.
42:01He was six feet away from me when he stopped.
42:04Stopped?
42:05He stopped and he looked at me for two or three seconds.
42:10Lucky you weren't sure.
42:12Rachel, after what you've been through, we can't expect you to continue.
42:16Sir, with respect.
42:17Unless, of course, you choose to do so.
42:20Yes.
42:21Thank you, sir.
42:22I'm trying to bring the new commander's start date forward significantly.
42:25So that you don't have to steer the ship alone.
42:29That is a great relief, sir.
42:31We need this managed properly.
42:33How's Paige bearing up?
42:34I can take the lead on comms if you need to.
42:37Paige has been a trooper so far.
42:38She got this long check.
42:39I think she can handle this step up.
42:41Got him.
42:42Bob!
42:43Have you got the shooter?
42:44ICM.
42:44Lifted the brightness as high as it'll go.
42:46There's one or two frames where he's in focus.
42:47We only need one.
42:48Outstanding.
42:49Thank God for that.
42:54Zoom in.
42:58It's not him.
43:00What do you mean?
43:01That is not the shooter I saw.
43:03Then who is it?
43:04The second gunman.
43:05Am I clear to release this image?
43:07Absolutely not.
43:07Eyes on target.
43:13Not him.
43:14Mum?
43:20None of this is right.
43:23Found this watch?
43:25No.
43:26Suspected interference.
43:27Sir, this footage is compromised.
43:29We need to investigate before we can even think about releasing it.
43:32From a public safety standpoint, that is out of the question.
43:34Then we send to search teams, but not to the press.
43:37Police and officers have spoken to Simone Turner, sir.
43:39Family are aware there'll be an announcement.
43:42You think this is correction?
43:44Yes, sir.
43:45I believe it is.
43:50I want updates every 15 minutes.
43:52Sir.
43:58I need all footage over to CTC.
44:00Okay, Mum.
44:03Your attention, please.
44:05All footage will now be held under a denotious embargo.
44:09That means it stays with us.
44:10We need to act fast.
44:12I won't be able to lead this halt for much longer.
44:14Have you still got eyes on Frank, maybe?
44:15I do.
44:17Contained in control.
44:18If Frank's involved, he's remotely involved.
44:21Stay on him.
44:23I want you to put eyes on Danny Hart.
44:26And bring Gemma Garland in.
44:28Gemma Garland's suspended, Mum.
44:29For questioning.
44:31Correction is in play, Tom.
44:33They're all suspects.
44:34Correction?
44:34The news footage.
44:35Well, any camera running on its own battery supply
44:37would have kept recording after the hack.
44:39But that doesn't mean those speeds could have been intercepted and corrupted.
44:42There were a lot of cameras running in Congress.
44:44Paige?
44:46Paige?
44:47The smart cam on stage.
44:48The demo cam.
44:49The fucking...
44:49The-the-the-the-the carry cam.
44:51Did you say it was running on battery power?
44:53Uh-huh.
44:54Yeah.
44:55Nadia.
44:56Mom.
44:57Secure that camera to CTC.
44:59On it.
45:00DC Clark.
45:01Secure the very test camera.
45:02Just now.
45:05Outstanding work, Paige.
45:06Okay.
45:07A denotious embargo means that all of your footage is not going anywhere.
45:10It is considered evidence.
45:12The sooner we can get through this, the sooner you can go.
45:15Failure to comply will be considered a criminal offence.
45:18On it.
45:19Are you drunk?
45:20It's the same.
45:22It is it.
45:24The sentence.
45:29commands.
45:30THROWER
45:31One!
45:31Oh особенно.
45:42On the spring.
45:46Tsc.
45:47The officers were also killed as the gunman made his escape.
45:51The suspect is believed to be armed, and he remains at large.
45:55Anyone who has any information as to the identity of the suspect
45:59should report to the police immediately.
46:08I felt caring that is trending already.
46:11This would be impossible if it weren't for moral courage.
46:14I refuse to call an action commander.
46:17Commander, Rachel Kemp.
46:57What will face your record not on that?
47:00Oh!
47:02Mum, the TV cameras, what makes you think they were corrected?
47:05That is not the shooter. Is that enough?
47:08The news cameras were offline.
47:09Were they offline or were they intercepted? It's possible, isn't it?
47:12Possible, yeah. Is it also possible this is the shooter?
47:16Try this. The demo camera. It was rolling at the time of the attack.
47:20Full frame, on the shooter, battery-powered.
47:22You've got comms to thank for that.
47:24Did appears lauded, Mum. Every POI on file match in your description.
47:27Bring them up. Cross-reference them with this as soon as it's loaded.
47:29The online signals will have been blocked, but the local one should be attacked.
47:33Smudges from ITN, Sky News, I'll just see it uploaded.
47:36Tom, the smart camera. It was facing the suspect. We've got him.
47:40Mum, this is a demo model. The clue's in the title.
47:48It's not kitted out. There's no operational hard drive, no memory card.
47:52Battery power might have been on, but it can't have been recorded.
47:54Smudge from Reuters uploaded.
47:55Our camera. Our smart camera built to record two channels of video.
48:03It wasn't recording one.
48:06Smudge from Channel 4?
48:07I'm sorry, I'm...
48:08It's not your fault. I'm so sorry.
48:11It is not about you, for fuck's sake.
48:13Mum?
48:15She's seen a medic.
48:16Sit her somewhere.
48:19Smudge from Associated Press?
48:21She stays here. If she's here, we don't have a head of commons breathing down on her.
48:25Suspect on another camera.
48:26That is not the suspect. Footage has been corrected.
48:29Matches the others?
48:29Yes, because it's all been corrected. That is not the shooter.
48:33Are you 100% sure, Mum?
48:35He matches your description.
48:37White male, six foot, medium build.
48:39Yes, I am 100% Nardy. The shooter was nothing like him. He didn't even have a beard, for fuck's
48:43sake.
48:44Smudge from GB News.
48:45He is... not sophisticated.
48:48The man appears out of nowhere, shoots a government minister right before my eyes, and then disappears without a trace.
48:53I'd say that was sophisticated.
48:54I'd say he was a genius, Tom. He is laughing at us. He is laughing at me.
48:58Why did no one else see him? It was a fucking press conference!
49:01There was a room full of journalists with cameras rolling. Why am I the only one who saw the suspect?
49:06Forgive the intrusion. I know this is a critical time for Operation Veritas, not to mention a sensitive one.
49:11So all the more reason to waive the ceremonials.
49:14I'll do this over a simple handshake.
49:18Deputy Commander Carey, allow me to introduce Commander Pearson.
49:22The fun new head of SO-15.
49:30Hi.
49:32Noah.
49:33Pleased to meet you.
