00:06I'm here at the Farmyard Nursery, which is really my favourite place at the show.
00:10There's an incredible number of animals here at the show, 14,000 in fact, and lots of competitors
00:17who are coming from all over the country to be here to compete in some of the biggest
00:21shows in the country.
00:22There are some amazing things to see here.
00:24There's the cannonball guy that gets fired out of a cannon.
00:27Then there's the honky-tonk.
00:28If you're into country and western fashion, this is going to be great.
00:31And there are so many food out there.
00:33Even sushi is on the menu this year.
00:35It's going to be an incredible show.
00:36But one of the highlights is really the animals.
00:38And this is the place where you can see animals up close.
00:41I'm joined here by James.
00:43James, you've been doing this Farmyard Nursery thing for a very long time.
00:46Yeah, we have.
00:47We've been doing it six years here in Sydney and about 28 years in Brisbane.
00:50And how many animals have you brought down?
00:52Just over 700.
00:53700?
00:54Yes.
00:54Yeah.
00:55Well, I can see a chicken.
00:57Yes.
00:57Goats in the background.
00:58Yep, absolutely.
00:59Yeah, so we've got a donkey, miniature horse.
01:01There's rabbits, guinea pigs, lambs, goats, baby ducklings.
01:05You name it.
01:06If it's on a farm, it's in the nursery.
01:07And I saw dogs for sale.
01:09Yes, we've got some puppies, of course.
01:10I forgot the puppies.
01:11Yeah, so some beautiful kelpies, beautiful border collies over there.
01:14And they could be working dogs or they could be city dogs.
01:17Yeah, absolutely.
01:17Yeah, yeah.
01:18So we'll talk to the people who are interested in taking one on.
01:21Yeah, and see what sort of lifestyle they've got and make sure that the dog fits the person.
01:25There'll be a person check, I'm sure.
01:27Yeah, yeah.

01:28And what do you reckon are the highlights this year for the show?
01:31I haven't had much of a chance to walk around yet.
01:33We're still in setup mode.
01:34But yeah, look, I think there's always the animals.
01:37The competitions are unreal.
01:38It's just amazing.
01:39The food here is unreal.
01:41All the artwork and there's some amazing displays.
01:44So I'm really looking forward to getting out and seeing what's going on.
01:47And was it a tough year for you to come down with so much fuel worries going on?
01:52Ah, not leading up because it's sort of only early.
01:54Because a lot of our preparation, we start planning for next year's show now, to be honest.
01:58So a lot of that with the breeding patterns and that sort of thing.
02:01Yeah, look, fuel, yes, absolutely a bit of a worry.
02:03We put long range tanks in some of the trucks so that we knew we'd get down here.
02:07Getting home might be a bit of a different challenge.
02:09I think as long as you're willing to pay, you might get the fuel.
02:11Yeah, good luck with that.
02:12So incredible stuff to see at the show.
02:15And there's quite a lot of nightlife activity going on this year.
02:18So don't hesitate to buy a ticket.
