00:00And Owen Casey has hit the ground running a walk-off two-run homer.
00:05Not the last time we're going to bring up Owen Casey on this pod.
00:08He did that on Sunday to secure a 3-0 start for the fish
00:12and secure a sweep over the Colorado Rockies.
00:15But this guy began his Marlin career 5-10 with two doubles,
00:20a home run, and two game-winning knocks.
00:22So go ahead, single in the eighth on Saturday,
00:24and then the walk-off two-run homer on Sunday.
00:27What have you taken away from Owen Casey's start to the year?
00:30Spring training may not matter very much.
00:32I know we always say that every year, but, man, he looks completely uncomfortable.
00:37I know he went to the WBC and put some good swings on balls,
00:39but, I mean, it reminds me of Kyle Stowers the year before.
00:42He looked terrible in spring training,
00:44and then he has this out-of-body entire season where he's an all-star.
00:49I think that's the one big takeaway.
00:51The other is that I see a player that's just been, you can tell,
00:55waiting for this opportunity for a while.
00:57And it's nothing against the Cubs.
00:58The Cubs have a very unique roster situation where it just wasn't,
01:02there wasn't clear-cut runway for him.
01:03But I still think there were some situations there where you felt like,
01:06man, give Casey more of a look.
01:07Give Casey more of a look.
01:08And I know, I can imagine, we'll never speak for a guy,
01:10but Casey, assuming he's a human being, was probably thinking in AAA,
01:14man, I wish I could get a little bit more of a look.
01:16I'm continuing to put up great numbers here for, like, two years.
01:19So, I just see a guy that's just ready for the opportunity,
01:22but also knows that he's not, it's not the Cubs situation where it's a team
01:25that, you know, the pressure's on late in the season.
01:28You've got to show results in a couple at-bats, and if you don't, back down.
01:32He knows that he's going to get runway here with the Marlins.
01:34He knows that he's a part of the long-term future.
01:37And it's still a team that obviously wants to win ballgames,
01:39but it's a team that's also thinking about their key pieces developing long-term.
01:43And I just see that freedom with Owen and the way that he's playing.
01:46The other is that he's going all fields, man.
01:50Left on left, he's going backside into the left-center gap.
01:53Then breaking ball, he stays up, or change up, he stays up, you know,
01:57with his posture long enough to still be able to, you know,
02:00golf it out or club it out over the right field wall.
02:03And you have, you know, you set a high bar for yourself there on the walk-off call, man.
02:08It's only game, what, three? Was that game three?
02:11It was game three, yeah.
02:12You're making it hard for yourself.
02:14I know.
02:15It's going to be hard to push past that tonally, but I will say that was one of those moments
02:21that deserved getting to 10, right?
02:23Like getting to level 10.
02:24What that guy has done in the opening weekend of his Marlon career has just been utterly insane.
02:30I wasn't even talking tonally.
02:31I'm just saying, like, you nailed the call.
02:33People are going to expect you to be in mid-season form in July.
02:36And if you can't top that mid-season form call from the third game,
02:41people might think you're running out of gas.
02:43All right.
02:43Go on.
02:43Go on.
02:43Go on.
02:43Go on.
02:43Go.
