00:00So, you know, Jerry Garcia, I say this in interviews all the time because it's so important.
00:05When I started playing with the Airplane, you know, Jerry played in bands for years and he was already doing
00:09the Warlocks, which would become the Dead, etc.
00:12And his advice to me was the less you play, the better it's going to be, leave holes, etc., etc.,
00:19which was good advice.
00:20And so when you start to finger pick stuff, you know, I use my fingers for a lot of stuff.
00:25But back in those days, it was pretty much finger picking, you know.
00:29And so immediately to put these away and try to just play with a flat pick and play less was
00:34a challenge in the beginning, but it was all I really had to do.
