Transcript
00:01When John was involved in the far right, I can't even begin to describe what life was like.
00:07The only way I can think of is, just imagine a dark cloud descends and it slowly engulfs you.
00:14You're scared, you feel alone, and you can't see any way out, and you really don't know what's around the
00:22corner.
00:24That despair just doesn't lift. The sense of fear doesn't go away.
00:30And into that darkness came a helping hand, and with the right support, that cloud did indeed lift.
00:38John received the help that he desperately needed, and today our lives couldn't be more different.
00:44Our home is once again filled with sunshine, the darkness now just a distant memory.
00:51Over time, the sun, I once knew, started to reappear again.
00:57First, it was the little things, such as him spending a little bit of time with me without arguing or
01:02debating.
01:03And then, we would find ourselves sharing a joke and laughing together.
01:08I used to cherish those moments, and they'd give me hope.
01:13I knew John was still there. I knew he was there somewhere.
01:16And never once did I think about ever giving up on him.
01:21John continued with his support, and he continued to thrive.
01:26And since getting help and leaving the far right, John has achieved so much.
01:31Not only is he a genuinely funny guy with a big heart and a great sense of humour,
01:36but John has an amazing future ahead of him.
01:41He has an amazing career.
01:43He passed his driving test first time, and he worked hard to rebuild the trust,
01:49and he reconnected with family and friends.
01:52He also went back and rejoined the friendship groups that he had long before his involvement in the far right.
01:59And John and I, well, we worked hard to rebuild our relationship,
02:05and today we are stronger than ever.
02:09My son inspires me.
02:11He is one of the most caring, considerate people I have ever had the fortune to be around.
02:17The memories of the past seem like a terrible nightmare.
02:22Too horrific to be true.
02:25However, not only has he owned his mistakes,
02:29but he is doing everything in his power to stop people making the same mistakes that he did.
02:36He works tirelessly with Exit UK
02:38to educate people on the dangers of far right extremism,
02:43and his passion has also become mine.
02:48Now we both work together.
02:49We work with those involved in extremism and the families of those involved,
02:56and we use our knowledge, experience, and training to help them out of their dark world.
03:04There are many people who interact in the Him pessoas
03:04understand the an end.
03:04Let us pray.
