Attack on Michigan synagogue inspired by Iran-backed Hezbollah, FBI says

00:00The FBI said it has further details on the profile of the armed man who, in early March,
00:06crashed his pickup truck into a large synagogue in the Detroit area.
00:11According to the U.S. agency, Ayman Ghazali is believed to have been inspired by the Iran-backed militant group
00:17Hezbollah.
00:18Ayman Ghazali made a video just minutes before the attack saying he wanted to kill as many of them as

00:28Based on the evidence gathered to date, we assess this attack to be a Hezbollah-inspired act of terrorism,

00:40The FBI referred to videos and social media accounts belonging to Ayman Ghazali,
00:45in which he advocated revenge and promoted Hezbollah's ideology.
00:49His family ties to Hezbollah were publicly disclosed soon after the attack.
00:55Israel's military said a brother was a Hezbollah commander in Lebanon who was killed there in March.
01:02Ghazali crashed his car into an early childhood education area.
01:06The strike came days into the Iran war with Israel and the U.S. that began in late February.
01:12His pickup was stocked with commercial-grade fireworks and containers with more than 100 litres of gasoline.

01:22The FBI said it was impossible to know whether Ghazali was aware that children would be present at that time.
