00:01Kyiv has agreed to provide Gulf countries with its complete air defense system, including maritime drones, electronic warfare and interception
00:10technology against Iranian drones.
00:13Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy unveiled what he called his strict agreements on his way back from his visit of Saudi
00:20Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan.
00:33We are talking about 10-year agreements.
00:38Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is willing to share its expertise in unblocking maritime trade routes with naval drones.
00:45In 2022, the Black Sea Grain Initiative signed by Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN unblocked the export of grain
00:53from Ukrainian ports.
01:18The deals with the Gulf countries are an opportunity for Kyiv to open its arms exports on a global basis.
01:32Until Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the consensus in Finland was that it wasn't necessary to join NATO.
01:39Since the Second World War, when Finland was temporarily occupied by Russia, the country developed and maintained the highest level
01:46of defense protection through public vigilance and deterrence with a well-funded military which has conscription for young men for
01:53at least one year's mandatory service.
01:55Even throughout the peaceful post-Soviet era, Finland never let its guard down.
02:00Now, in this moment of untold volatility, Europe is hoping to learn from Finnish preparedness.
02:07Finnish border guards have to be prepared for any low-level incident, but also including a full-scale invasion.
02:12This is Finnish territory, but also NATO territory.
02:15Also, not too far away from here is Russia's nuclear deterrence.
02:19It's part of the defense system of Finland, so we prepared also to be part of Finnish territorial defense.
02:28And what does that mean?
02:29We, for example, we train our conscripts for our reserve, which is a useful tool if necessary on the wartime.
02:38So, basically a full-scale invasion?
02:41Yeah, that's correct.
02:42On the Russian border, conscripts are trained for the wide gamut of roles in the army, including sniper or marksman.
02:49I've never held a rifle in my life, so first time shooting was in the army.
02:53You start off with the basic assault rifle, and I found out in the army that I have a gift
02:58for shooting.
02:59So, that's how I got into this marksman.
03:03Russian aggression in Ukraine has had dire consequences for the indigenous Sami people, who are native to Russia, Finland and
03:10Norway.
03:10Finland's Sami people have had to cut dives from their Russian brethren, many of whom were forced into the Russian
03:16army to attack Ukraine.
03:19One of the terrible, terrible things is that some of the Sami brothers on the Russian side have been forcibly
03:26conscripted to the Russian army and sent to the war front in Ukraine.
03:32And we have also lost at least, I think, seven Sami young men.
03:37And it's a huge loss in a small community, about 2,000.
03:41Europe now acknowledges the transatlantic alliance is not as viable as it once was.
03:45The U.S. is now calling for Europe to help its war efforts in Iran,
03:49or risk them pulling completely away from helping Ukraine with military intelligence as it defends itself from Russia.
03:57Ukraine is not a bargaining ship.
03:59As I said, a huge shift of attention, also from the U.S., would be a huge mistake.
04:07But what we have to do is to continue to convince the U.S. that they have to be engaged
04:12to help Ukraine.
04:13And we have to do our job also to reinforce our support to Ukraine from the military financial perspective.
04:19Finland's border guard stretches 1,350 kilometers with Russia, the largest inside NATO.
04:25But the Finns say they're ready for anything.
04:28Shona Murray, Euronews, Giuseppe, Finland.
04:36Israel's parliament has passed a law approving the death penalty for Palestinians convicted on terror charges for deadly attacks.
04:43A measure that has been harshly condemned by the international community and rights groups as discriminatory and inhumane.
04:52The law, championed by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gavir,
04:57makes the death penalty by hanging the default punishment for West Bank Palestinians convicted for nationalistic killings.
05:04Legal experts say this language effectively confines those who can be sentenced to death to Palestinian citizens of Israel and
05:13excludes Jewish citizens.
05:40Minutes after the bill passed the Association of Civil Rights in Israel said it had
05:44already petitioned Israel's highest court to challenge the law, calling it discriminatory by design.
05:52The foreign ministers of Australia, Britain, France, Germany and Italy released a statement on Sunday
05:58urging Israel to abandon plans to pass the law, calling it de facto discriminatory,
06:04and saying the death penalty was unethical and had no deterring effect.
06:10The Council of Europe said the adoption of the law represents a serious regression.
06:21The UN Security Council is set to convene an emergency meeting after three UN peacekeepers were killed in southern Lebanon
06:28in 24 hours.
06:31The UN interim force in Lebanon said two of its personnel were killed Monday in an explosion
06:37and another died late Sunday when a projectile hit their position.
06:40It said it launched an investigation into the separate incidents.
06:45Israel's military said on Tuesday it was investigating the two incidents
06:49to determine whether they resulted from Hezbollah or from IDF activity.
07:08The incidents come as fighting between Hezbollah militants and Israeli forces intensifies amid an Israeli invasion into Lebanese border areas.
07:16The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon said on Monday that the humanitarian impact in southern Lebanon has reached devastating levels.
07:24The envoy detailed that the three UN peacekeepers and nine Lebanese paramedics killed in just the last few days
07:31are part of a broader death toll that now stands at more than 1,240,
07:36while more than one million people remain displaced.
07:45Spain has banned US military aircraft involved in the Iran war from using its airspace and military bases.
07:52The ban extends an earlier restriction that applied only to two American installations on Spanish soil
07:59and now covers the entire country.
08:17The restrictions have been communicated to US forces from the outset and are not a sudden policy shift, she stressed.
08:24Foreign Minister José Manuel Alvarez added Madrid would block any US flights linked to the conflict
08:30from entering Spanish airspace.
08:32The US did not immediately comment, but US President Donald Trump has threatened earlier this month
08:38to cut off all trade with Spain over its refusal to allow the bases to be used for Iran operations.
08:45Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has taken a stance against the war in Iran,
08:50led by the United States and Israel, calling it an extraordinary mistake.
08:56Spanish Prime Minister Kosovo is bearing the brunt of the economic crisis triggered by the war in Iran.
09:04For this country, one of the poorest in Europe, rising fuel prices are having an immediate impact on businesses.
09:12In the agricultural sector, for example, price volatility is proving particularly challenging.
09:18In the beginning of the war in Iran, we have been affected by the
09:23and we have been affected by the
09:53rising fuel prices, the Kosovo government has still not taken action.
09:57However, according to economic experts, the authorities must act swiftly to prevent further
10:03damage.
10:05The economic difficulties are exacerbated by the political difficulties in Kosovo.
10:10The Prime Minister is in a political deadlock, and the opposition is condemning what it calls
10:15his government's inaction.
10:2122 people have gone on trial in France on charges of murder and other serious crimes,
10:28centred on members of a masonic lodge accused of running hit squads.
10:34Those in the dock include four military personnel from France's Foreign Intelligence Service,
10:39two police officers, a retired domestic intelligence officer, a security guard and two business
10:46executives.
10:47One victim, who survived two assassination attempts, explains the consequences of the
10:53attacks.
11:11Most of the accused aged between 30 and 73 have no previous criminal records.
11:17There are accused of murder, attempted murders, aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy,
11:23all on behalf of a mafia network inside the former Athenormasonic lodge in a Paris suburb.
