In observance of Holy Week, healthcare workers from several hospitals across Metro Manila staged a protest dubbed “Kalbaryo ng Manggagawang Pangkalusugan at Mamamayan” in front of the Department of Health (DOH) on March 31, 2026, drawing attention to the worsening conditions faced by medical frontliners and ordinary Filipinos amid a deepening health and economic crisis.

They cited ongoing fuel supply instability as a major factor driving up fuel prices, which has led to a surge in the cost of basic goods and essential services—including medicines, hospitalization, and access to healthcare—further compounding the burden on both health workers and the public.
