Anyone viewing the noticeboard outside the ranger’s hut at Farnham Park will now find a poem displayed alongside information about the park’s history and wildlife.
The work has been written by well-known local historian Gilly Stewart, who has penned the poem as a tribute to one of Farnham’s best-loved beauty spots.

00:00Hello everybody, we are here at Farnham Park and I'm presenting to you today my poem which I wrote
00:08about the park because it means a great deal to me and I've written it for the people of Farnham.
00:17This beauteous arbor where under ancient trees we lie,
00:23sleeps through time and upward gazes to the sky, rich carpet of green stretches out all rolling fold,
00:32patterned in draperies burnt brown and gold, layers of history swathing deep upon its bed,
00:40of treasures and battles where brave hearts once bled, for many a lover has here trothed his sweet
00:48vow, beneath the shade of yonder chestnut vow. And many a pledge once strong has been broken,
00:59great treaties of war and peace here were spoken, now butterflies flutter and dance to and fro,
01:09skimming dainty daisies and circled bidder. This blessed spot where toil and trampled soil were born,
01:19O garden of endymion that sighs the night and greets the dawn, thou shalt for many a year spring forth
01:27sweet blossoms new, painting a sea of fresh glistening dew. I shall not weep, but keep the song of the
01:37lark,
01:38soaring on high, or this great and noble high.
