00:06I think this should have happened a long time back, but I am glad my friend Upin Mishraji
00:13and of course the Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi, Ikhaji, initiated this.
00:20It's a fantastic location to have it in.
00:24The earlier International Film Festival of India used to happen in Delhi when I was a drama school student,
00:29before it shifted permanently to Goa.
00:32I took a tour of the whole place.
00:34It's fabulous, the vibe is amazing.
00:36And I am very happy that my film Tanvi the Great is also being screened here.
00:41I am looking forward to my master class.
00:43I am looking forward to this evening's concluding session and tomorrow the screening.
00:51I think it educates people.
00:55Festivals also bring people together and also it educates people about the cultural heritage of a city.
01:03Delhi has played a very important role.
01:05It is diverse, but it is very rich.
01:07And I am very happy that I am here on the first episode of this festival.
01:15And I have a very strong feeling that this will do very well.
01:18And I congratulate the organizers, the Chief Minister, the government, the various cultural department, the tourism department.
01:28And I see a lot of enthusiasm among the volunteers, the students, people who have come here.
01:36Neville Tully has put a brilliant exhibition and it's a great thing.
01:41And today I also want to sort of share that Tanvi the Great completes 25 weeks in theaters.
01:48It's a silver jubilee that has happened.
01:52It was my faith that we must run the film in limited theaters.
01:56And for film to re-release and then to complete 25 weeks is a great thing apart from it being
02:03on Amazon Prime.
02:04But 25 weeks and we have also made a trophy and we will be distributing that.
02:20So there are two kinds of people, good directors, bad directors, good actors, bad actors.
02:33Good actors will remain good in every platform and bad actors will remain bad.
02:38But bad do have a possibility of becoming good.
02:42Not that I want to plug my school.
02:45But today there is no possibility of you becoming an actor without training.
02:49I have survived 41 years in cinema and almost 56 years, 52 years in professional theater.
03:01550 films only because I am a trained actor.
03:05So I think, but of course OTT has given a possibility to lot of actors.
03:10So many people who were without work now have amazing work.
03:15It has given not only actors, technicians, directors, writers.
03:20So, but apart from that a festival like this is very important.
03:24Where all people come together, exchange thoughts and celebrate cinema.
03:30So, one last question.
03:32Sir, Durand, there are two films in cinemas and many are calling it as a propaganda movie.
03:37How do you look at it?
03:38Have you also been a part of Kashmir Files?
03:40How do you look at it?
03:41I think we should ignore people who are calling cinema propaganda films.
03:46We are putting too much energy onto them.
03:49They are redundant people.
03:50They are irrelevant people.
03:52Let's celebrate the success of Kashmir Files.
03:55Let's celebrate the success of Dhorandar.
03:57People are not idiots that they are going to see 12 o'clock show, house full.
04:02People who go to see the film because they like it.
04:07And I think we should say rest in peace to people who are sort of calling it a propaganda film.
04:14Sir, do you think that cinema is a reflection of the society or does it have the power to change
04:19the society?
04:20I think there are two answers to that question.
04:24Whether the cinema can change people?
04:27Yes, it can.
04:28It depends on individuals sitting in the dark auditorium.
04:32But it's also a business.
04:35It's also like any other business.
04:38Lot of people have channels now.
04:41They run it as a business.
04:42They don't run it because we want to make the story reach.
04:45Otherwise, every 13 minutes, it won't be breaking news.
04:50So, these two separate things.
04:52But if I am going to see a film, I may get something out of it.
04:57As I said, spoke to you, Tanvi the Great has given lot of people the courage.
05:01I met a lot of people here whose parents are saying that we can see this film together with family.
05:06So, it depends on an individual.
05:08You can't make a film with the idea of
05:10Now, I will tell you what the truth is and what the truth is and what the truth is.
