00:09home floors and the winner today
00:11will win the season series Miami
00:14will start Pella Lawson Andrew
00:17Wiggins Bam Adebayo Tyler Hero
00:19and Davion Mitchell they are 39
00:22and 35 ninth in the east that's a
00:24play in spot they are 16 and 21
00:27on the road coming in off a loss in
00:30Cleveland on Friday for the Indiana
00:33Pacers they will use their 42nd
00:36different starting lineup that's
00:38number two behind Washington's 44
00:40Ethan Thompson Jalen Slauson Pascal
00:43Siakam with Quentin Jackson and
00:46Andrew Nembhard routing out the
00:48starting five alongside Quinn
00:50Buckner I'm Kristen Airy let's check
00:52in with Jeremiah Johnson third start
00:55today for Jalen Slauson he gets that
00:57starting assignment thanks to the
00:59Aaron Neesmith injury and these two
01:02go way back they were AAU teammates
01:05for three seasons in South Carolina
01:09and Aaron Neesmith had some advice
01:11for Jalen Slauson when he found out
01:13he was coming to join the boom in the
01:15offseason he said get your butt in
01:16shape and bring a jacket and Aaron then
01:19invite them invited Jalen to the
01:21workouts in Charleston he said he did
01:23what he could to give him any words of
01:25advice to help him out but he said it's
01:26awesome to see that he got that two-way
01:28contract able to finish the season
01:30with us and as for Slauson he knows
01:33all about what Aaron Neesmith does
01:35well he says it helps we can talk
01:37through anything if there's a mistake
01:38or some communication needs to be had we
01:40can do that we've had that dialogue for
01:4212 years so they played together some
01:44already they won't play together today
01:46but you know Aaron Neesmith will be
01:48watching and pulling for Jalen Slauson not
01:51just today but the remainder of this
01:53season thanks JJ on the Indiana Farm
01:55Bureau Insurance sideline Neesmith is
01:57sidelined with a cervical strain Rick
01:59Carlisle said before the game he really
02:01suffered that injury in the Lakers game
02:04on Wednesday aggravated it and woke up
02:07this morning and was not able to go
02:09Neesmith coming in off the 26 point game
02:12and Jers Walker we saw that hard fall that
02:16Walker had on Friday night his head is
02:19alright but had a low back bruise and so
02:23no Walker and no Neesmith this afternoon
02:26for the Pacers again Indiana won here
02:32123-99 that was back on January 10th the
02:37Heat won it 142-116 on December 27th
02:44but here we are Sunday afternoon a 42nd
02:48different starting lineup because of some
02:51injury situations for the Pacers
02:55but there's a guy who's right in the
02:57middle of it Pascal Siakam Tyler
03:01Hero averaging 21 points per game he's
03:04missed a lot of time this year due to
03:06injuries and it'll be Slauson and
03:09Adebayo the tip and it is won by
03:12out of Bayo but it was chased down by
03:14Quentin Jackson
03:18Pascal Siakam had a tough shooting night
03:21on Friday night
03:25I like the way it's moving let it move and Siakam misses
03:30I said to you today that's the thing every month I mean he's had to work
03:36extraordinarily hard and I think you know you got to give him credit for how he's under any circumstance
03:42but he's he's had to work so hard like Chris he's losing his legs
03:46oh what a drive by Nembhard now that one is young enough that he just keeps running
03:52it's almost like a standard and I'm talking about Nembhard
03:56Nembhard has three straight games of double figure assists he had ten more against the Clippers Friday night
04:03that hero misses and the Pacers get the rebound had a terrific start Friday night led by 21 after a
04:10quarter
04:10and that's a foul on Larson
04:14terrific pass by Nembhard to Siakam
04:19Siakam looking I mean look at it Larson's got his back turned that pass gets there and Larson tries to
04:25react too late though
04:27Siakam gets knocked down she goes to the foul line now let me just tell you about Siakam because I
04:32really think this is the challenge that the staff has
04:35he took an extra second to lay there you know he's he's worked so exceptionally hard I don't know if
04:41I've ever seen anybody in this situation
04:43continue to try to produce at the at an exceptional level the way he has
04:50and leaves that free throw short Pascal Siakam averaging 23.7 that's 18th in the NBA an all-star for
04:57the second time in a Pacers uniform this year
05:00his fourth time overall dating back to his seven plus years in Toronto
05:06and that combination of Nembhard and Siakam point has been so good this year
05:12assist to field goals they are fifth in the NBA and to points they are ninth
05:17it's been special these guys have got they always had a little bit of a you can feel like a
05:22connection
05:22but I think it's been improved upon this year this is the guy that he's probably going to have to
05:28help on
05:28he's got the great hands there by Siakam to knock that ball free when you're down to five seconds
05:34I mentioned the quick start the Pacers had Friday night when they beat the Heat here the Pacers never trailed
05:41they got out to a 36 to 18 score and never looked back that was back in January
05:49that's a bad pass taken by Wiggins yeah he got in the air Siakam did it just didn't have enough
05:55energy to put the ball where it needed to go
05:58the hero gets the basket and Miami is on the board
06:02Ethan Thompson started this season in training camp with Miami
06:07and he's fouled Siakam
06:10it's not funny if it's you but he's on the floor again
06:17he's coming into your living room to your man cave
06:22what the she man she woman cave you see look at him going down
06:27just giving into it
06:28and they're going to put the ball on the side not a shooting situation for Siakam
06:32he was he never got into a shooting motion
06:34but your argument is the same one Coach Carlisle has
06:37so I you know I'm going to give you and Coach Carlisle you know that one
06:41but I wasn't sure he did that
06:44Larson
06:44you cannot Larson is not somebody who can shoot that
06:48Siakam gets inside lays it up and they're going to call a charge on Siakam
06:52yeah head shed was there
06:56and now Bam Adebayo is down
06:59and he's he's grabbing
07:07oh he may have rolled that ankle a little bit
07:09yeah
07:10Adebayo is right in front of our broadcast location here
07:14that's Mitchell
07:14yeah Davion Mitchell
07:16yeah Davion Mitchell
07:16yeah that's his shit
07:20Bam is the heart soul
07:23the spirit of this Miami team
07:25Chris they got blitzed
07:28yeah in Cleveland
07:29and I mean
07:31Eric's supposed to coach and all I'm sure from the Miami side
07:35were not happy
07:36so I expect to see that
07:37just try to exact some defense on the Pacers
07:40even though the Pacers had nothing to do with
07:42and they gave up a season high 149 points
07:45they lost to Cleveland 149 128 on Friday
07:50that was the back half of one of those baseball series
07:53they won in Cleveland 120 103 on Wednesday
07:56in a game they led by as many as 21
07:58against six straight years
08:00Eric's poster and the heat have been in the playoffs
08:02right now they're in the play
08:04and that's not a guarantee
08:05we'll get to the playoffs
08:07but last year they were the number eight seed
08:09and that's a three by Wiggins
08:11yep Chris
08:12but they have a chance to move up
08:14they're only like a game and a half out
08:16yes
08:16three two games from the sixth spot
08:18and that's held right now by Atlanta
08:23Jackson on the baseline
08:25picks it up to a cutting Ethan Thompson
08:27and that's a Pacers turnover their third
08:32and right now Miami in a percentage tie
08:36with number ten Charlotte
08:37half game behind number eight Orlando
08:40two behind number seven Philadelphian
08:42as you said
08:43not that far out of six where Atlanta is
08:47out of Bayou
08:48and that's going to be the second foul on Siakam
08:59the athletic trainer goes to notify Rick Carlisle
09:03we're going to see a substitution
09:05look at Chris
09:06he's trying he's done
09:10but you know that's one of those
09:12he got out of position tried to get back
09:14his legs would allow him to get back
09:17into a defensive position
09:19and to be able to stop him
09:21so he ended up fouling
09:22and Micah Potter will check in
09:24this is one of those games where
09:26the Pacers did not start a true center
09:28Siakam was starting in the middle
09:30and again we saw that matchup earlier
09:32this year against out of Bayou
09:33well yes
09:35and here's the reason why
09:36but out of Bayou
09:38plays
09:40you got five people
09:41he plays you know if he was one of the five
09:43he plays any one of the positions Chris
09:46that's the way they're made
09:48where he can play one through five
09:50if he has to
09:51he's usually four or five
09:53because he'll bring in
09:54Khalil Ware from Indiana
09:56and he would play
09:57four if they had to
09:59this is what you have to watch out for
10:00you've got to sprint with this team
10:02because they definitely will push
10:03they are number three in fast break points
10:06eighteen per game
10:08Potter can't shoot three
10:09in and out no good
10:10kept alive by Thompson
10:12but into the hands of Wiggins
10:13ladies and gentlemen
10:15very different than a lot of teams
10:16you see
10:16this team doesn't play a lot of
10:18pick and roll
10:19it's a lot of one on one
10:20if you can beat your person
10:22you beat it
10:24it's a nine nothing run right now
10:26Miami
10:27with a six point lead
10:30nice action
10:30nice action
10:33initiated by Nimhart
10:36Jackson has his first points
10:38Jackson making his twelfth start
10:41Tyler Hero inside
10:44is that a foul on
10:46who they call his foul on
10:47because Larson is down
10:50they call his foul
10:51on I believe
10:52on Slauson right
10:53yeah
10:54I think
10:54I think he signaled eighteen
10:56you're right
10:58I mean
10:59what
11:00watch this
11:01such a good job
11:01just get the ball moved
11:03change directions
11:04I like that
11:05you gotta change the ball
11:07in terms of direction
11:08you get it from one side to the other
11:09that's a positive thing to do
11:11it will be Larson at the line
11:13second year
11:14out of Sweden
11:16played at Arizona
11:17started his college career at Utah
11:20he's averaging eleven per game
11:23he's
11:23and he's versatile Chris
11:24he's about six eight
11:26so he's bigger than you think he is
11:28and he's very skilled
11:29second round draft pick a couple of years ago
11:33Swanson lets a three fly
11:34it's too strong
11:35out of Iowa
11:36the rebound
11:37bam averaging nearly ten rebounds per game
11:40twenty points
11:41and that's going to be a foul
11:43very good play by Q
11:44to get it on loss
11:45yeah
11:48and that's his second
11:49yeah
11:50nice job by Q to get it
11:51now they come in
11:52okay
11:53with
11:53I mean Huckett
11:55this guy has been a problem in two games this year
11:58win against the Pacers
11:59when they won in Miami
12:00Huckett's had twenty eight
12:02he had sixteen here
12:04in the loss
12:05he's averaging fifteen per game
12:08a first round draft pick back in twenty twenty three out of UCLA
12:13nowhere to go with that
12:14if you make that pass
12:15he had the right idea for the backup
12:16but there's nowhere to go with the pass
12:19um
12:19if you get it through
12:22gotta read it
12:23there's no doubt
12:24Davion Mitchell started his career in Sacramento
12:27he beats Jackson to the basket
12:29lays it in
12:30and a timeout taken by Rip Carlisle
12:33and the Pacers
12:33as the Heat have zoomed out
12:35to an eight point lead
12:43here on a Sunday afternoon at Gingrich Fieldhouse
12:46thirteen to five Miami
12:49he has the lead
12:51it is great to see all the kids here
12:54at the Fieldhouse
12:55just a few games left
12:56in fact
12:57a three game road trip
12:58then three of the last four at home
13:00a look at our FanDuel same game parlay
13:03total parlay odds
13:04plus two thirteen
13:04first quarter
13:05plus eight and a half
13:06is minus one fourteen
13:08the first quarter total points
13:09over fifty six and a half
13:11minus one thirty six
13:12we had a forty second different lineup change
13:15so
13:15starting lineup
13:16so you knew there would be some issues
13:18we've seen that early
13:21we're going to see that
13:22but
13:23Chris I think
13:24you make a really good point
13:26when you question
13:27I don't think we see it quite as often
13:29because they played each other
13:30they played with each other
13:31but not as a unit
13:32but still
13:33a little more familiar
13:34with who the personnel are
13:38that foul is on Wiggins
13:41and that will be the third team
13:43foul against Miami
13:46Jokas is in for the first time
13:52so Michael Potter coming as well
13:54again no Lee Smith
13:55no Walker
13:56today
13:56in the post
13:58Potter
13:58against Hero
14:01and he tried to feed it to Thompson
14:03knocked away a fifth Indiana turnover
14:05Too much traffic.
14:09Hero.
14:11Nice job covering out.
14:13Because Hero normally shoots that shot.
14:15Quinton shut it down.
14:17Now Mitchell on the baseline.
14:19Shot clock winding down to six.
14:22Hero launches.
14:24And short.
14:25And it's rebounded.
14:26Knocked out to Nembhardt.
14:28Pacers run the break.
14:29Nembhardt takes it all the way.
14:32Here's what you got to do.
14:34You got to get back.
14:34You have to initiate physicality.
14:36You're ready to make multiple defensive efforts.
14:39In order to beat a team like Miami.
14:41You have to get back in transition.
14:43And Tyler Hero has six.
14:47At a ten game stretch where he had eight 20 point games.
14:50Those numbers have been down the last few games.
14:53Cross court pass in the quarter.
14:54Potter for three.
14:55Hot out there at that three line, isn't he?
14:57He has shot at Bell.
15:0050% over the last 14 games.
15:03The big guy out of Wisconsin.
15:05And that's going to be a foul on Ethan Thompson.
15:10And free throws now for Miami.
15:12We talked about those numbers.
15:13With points in the paint, fast break points, boots on turnovers, all ranking in the top five.
15:19That is the way they score.
15:20In addition to the fact that you can add to that, they play a wide open brand.
15:25But if they try to get the ball into the paint, they're actively getting their hands on balls.
15:30That's why you see the points off turnovers.
15:35You know, they don't have Norman's power in the game.
15:37That's right.
15:37He's out due to illness for more on Eric Spolster and the Heat.
15:41Here's J.J.
15:42I brought up those fast break points to Rick Carlisle in previewing this game against the Heat.
15:46He said, you've got to get back and guard your guy.
15:49And as far as the Miami offense, he said, they've decreased the number of pick and rolls.
15:53They spaced the floor.
15:54They're shooting it everywhere.
15:56Mentioned their centers.
15:58Khalil Ware, Bam Adebayo.
15:59He said, they're shooting threes.
16:00There's no one you can sag off of and help on.
16:02And it makes it very difficult defensively.
16:05So those points in the paint, the fast break points, numbers to watch today.
16:08Yeah.
16:09What they really try to do is take advantage of the situation where people are running pick and roll.
16:14Pick and roll puts two people at the ball.
16:16If Miami doesn't want to do that, Potter for another.
16:21Micah Potter.
16:23He has been so impressive, especially from three-point range.
16:28He's seen a career pass 40 games now.
16:31This is his 40th game with the Pacers.
16:33Here's a three, and Davion Mitchell drills it.
16:38It's been interesting to see Mitchell over the last three weeks.
16:41He's really not scored too much.
16:43No, he really hadn't.
16:44And he didn't play very well against Cleveland.
16:45But Cleveland's got two of the best stuff.
16:47Put a dying pass there by McConnell.
16:49I mean, no look time.
16:50But when you play against James Harden or Donovan Mitchell,
16:53you're going to have trouble getting some things going.
16:55And that's what happened with Mitchell.
16:58Nearly taken by Brown.
17:00Hawkins has to chase it down.
17:03He mentioned T.J. McConnell in for the first time.
17:06Autobio runs out of room but finds Hero.
17:09He banks it in off the glass.
17:11With regards to Mitchell and Hero in the room,
17:13it's been pretty effective here on it, hasn't it?
17:15Yep.
17:15Tyler Hero has eight.
17:17Mitchell has five.
17:18They have 13 of their 22.
17:23Connell and Nembhard playing together.
17:25Here's T.J.
17:26A3 on the way.
17:27It's gone.
17:29He's been working to make sure he gets it better.
17:31You see how much quicker he's taken them now?
17:34Yeah.
17:34We've talked about that, you and I,
17:36and we just watched him, and he's working.
17:37I took very hard to make sure he can be effective with it.
17:41Now, Hawkins short, rebounded by Nembhard.
17:46The assist-to-turnover ratio of late of the two guys
17:50that just handled the ball, Nembhard and McConnell,
17:52has been very impressive.
17:54Here's another three!
17:55Potter has three of them!
17:57Potter!
17:58Potter!
17:59Potter is Potter!
18:02Ooh!
18:0822-21, Miami with a one-point lead.
18:114-4 to play in the first quarter.
18:13Friday night against the Clippers.
18:14The Pacers made eight first-quarter three-point field goals.
18:18They've made four here in the first quarter this afternoon.
18:21Gwinnon, Micah Potter has three of them,
18:24are Ascension's offensive heart-pounding moments.
18:26He's done a terrific job with the three-ball pressure.
18:29He's gotten himself in position,
18:30but you can see his teammates now are delivering the ball
18:33with such energy, such timeliness,
18:35that he catches it, goes right into it.
18:37That's a difficult shot.
18:38That's one of the four that he's been able to knock down.
18:40You can see the entire bench.
18:42He's given it one to the three.
18:43I'm sorry that he's knocked down.
18:45But Micah's given a nice push off the bench.
18:47And you can see on the season, 41%.
18:49That is a career high.
18:52He came in 34% in his first four seasons.
18:55He played in Detroit and Utah.
18:57Utah the last three seasons.
19:01It's way 2-21 Miami.
19:03Mitchell stays out there, guarded by McConnell.
19:06Nearly fumbled by Hawkins.
19:08It's a good matchup here, Mitchell and TJ,
19:11because they're both very physical guards.
19:14He's got to do something to get a handle right now on Hero.
19:17He's playing the Hero.
19:18He's got 11.
19:2025-21.
19:21Tyler Hero out of the state of Wisconsin,
19:23like Tyrese Halliburton.
19:25Here's catch and shoot again.
19:27And he's made four.
19:29He came over.
19:30He caught that one by the bench.
19:32And I mean, as soon as he caught it, it was gone.
19:35Micah Potter has made four threes.
19:39For the fifth time this year, he has a season high of five.
19:44As that's a foul, Simone Fantecchio was in for the first time.
19:48The team matchup, because I'm looking at Shepard having to guard Fantecchio.
19:51Fantecchio is bigger, maybe probably stronger.
19:54And he got an angle, I thought, on Shepard that allowed the first shot to go up.
19:59And then he, Fantecchio went up and got the next rebound and got fouled.
20:04Fantecchio out of Italy, averaging nine per game.
20:08This is his fourth NBA season.
20:10He's been in Utah and Detroit.
20:12He's a shooter.
20:16And the first point for Fantecchio.
20:19Pacers bench win already has 17 of Indiana's 24 points.
20:23Friday night, they had 55.
20:25I mean, look, it's been better, Chris.
20:28It's just, it continues to get better.
20:30But when you've got somebody like Potter that's hot,
20:34that helps, gives you some points for sure.
20:38McConnell at the dotted line, short.
20:41And Pacers there for the rebound, racing down the floor.
20:44That's what Coach Carlisle talked about.
20:45You've got to get back.
20:46You've got a break there.
20:48Fantecchio rolled it off the rim.
20:50No question.
20:51Khalil Ware is in.
20:52Where's number seven for Miami?
20:56Nembhard out to McConnell.
20:58He's going to set for his second three.
21:00Yeah, look real comfortable getting that shot.
21:03Great read on the part, I thought,
21:06what you had on the offensive end.
21:09And he stepped right into it.
21:11McConnell and Potter have all six three-play field goals off the bench.
21:15That's way off.
21:16I'm sorry, I was going to finish and say,
21:19when you had it, it was very good read on the part of Nembhard
21:22to be able to find him.
21:24And you're right, here's Potter.
21:26And he's going to drive it and dunk it.
21:29That's what happens when you're making threes, bringing energy.
21:32Give them something to cheer about.
21:34Micah Potter is an emotional player.
21:36He will get the crowd going, and he has them going right now.
21:4229-26 Pacers.
21:45Hero ties it.
21:49He's got 14.
21:5114 of their 29.
21:53Really smart play.
21:56He just didn't make the shot,
21:57but Potter probably will tie it,
21:59did take that three, got it to Shep.
22:01Shep just missed it.
22:02That's going to be run down by Hero.
22:12Hero on the baseline.
22:14He got two more.
22:16A 16-point opening quarter for Tyler Hero.
22:20He's come loaded.
22:23And the Heat lead it, 31-29.
22:26Woo-hoo.
22:29He's a woo-hoo, but you got tricked.
22:32At that time, the Heat got tricked.
22:3522 of the 31 Pacers points, McConnell and Potter.
22:40That ball loose on the floor, good hands.
22:43It'll be a jump.
22:44But it was good physical defense on the part of Brown
22:47that forces that ball to do, pop free.
22:50Really good job by Nimrard.
22:51Watch.
22:52He recognizes he can't get the ball to the rim,
22:54so he gets it to TJ.
22:55And TJ's ready to shoot it right away,
22:57which is what you need to be
22:59if you're at that three-point line.
23:02You talk about Micah Potter?
23:04He's made three-point shots,
23:06and so the thing you have to do is people close on you.
23:08They close quickly, recognize it,
23:10put it on the floor and get to the basket.
23:12All right, we got these guys.
23:14Andrew Nimrard will get his first breather
23:16as Quinton Jackson checks back in.
23:20Potter, 14 points in eight minutes with three rebounds,
23:23five of six from the field, four of five from three.
23:28And the tip won by the Pacers.
23:32Oh, great advance.
23:37McConnell against the rookie out of Illinois,
23:40Casper as Yacachonis.
23:44McConnell, baseline.
23:45Time, ooh.
23:47Shot five to five.
23:48Yeah, you have five.
23:49You've got to go to work there.
23:52He's going to do it all.
23:53He did the right thing.
23:54He tried to get it up there,
23:55but Pacers got his hands on it at the fourth-second mark.
23:58And by the time that ball went in here and came back down,
24:02it was going to be a violation.
24:05Pacers shoot a 67%.
24:08Miami at 55%.
24:09Remember, Indiana started two of six.
24:12They're 10 of their last 12.
24:17Carson lobs it up.
24:19Where?
24:19Don't see.
24:26The game clock started before the ball was touched.
24:30It should not be the case.
24:33Indiana fans knew about Khalil Ware.
24:36Played one season at Indiana after playing at Oregon.
24:40Yeah, he's improved,
24:41but they're still waiting to call the great deal more.
24:43He has the ability to shoot it for long.
24:48Energy is what he's had to challenge himself.
24:50He plays with energy.
24:51And particularly the way Miami plays.
24:53He had 15.7 rebounds when Miami beat the Pacers in December.
24:58He's chasing McConnell,
24:59who got the basket and a foul.
25:03I mean, that's a heck of a shot by TJ.
25:06He's shooting set for the guys seven-plus.
25:08He's winning this man that's seven-plus.
25:11He makes the hard move to what effectively is his right.
25:14He got fouled, no question about it.
25:17Certainly a really good call by the officials.
25:19We periodically get on the officials' permission
25:23calls, got to get them credit
25:24when they make calls that few can see.
25:27When's the last time you've seen two bench players
25:30score double figures in the first quarter?
25:33McConnell and Potter have done that.
25:37Like you, I've just been looking for the success.
25:40I haven't seen that very often.
25:42Here's Jaquez, and he hits the three to beat the bus.
25:46You can't let him get that far down.
25:48There's no way a guy gets the ball from out of bounds
25:50with four-point four.
25:51He gets the three-point shot.
25:52But still a good offensive first half.
25:55I mean, first quarter, by the face.
25:56It's got to be better defensively.
25:58Indiana, 68 percent, 13 of 19, 6 of 10 from three.
26:04The bench scores 27 of the 34.
26:08Second quarter next, 36-34 Miami.
26:27They've been able to make up for some of the shortcomings.
26:33Otherwise, but you hit a game that's a two-point game.
26:36Well, they've got 30 points in the quarter.
26:38But what you have to be careful of, gave up 36 in the quarter.
26:42I like to keep those numbers under 30 on the defensive end.
26:47Larson finds Jaquez on the drive, and Jaquez inside, so five straight points.
26:52One of the most physical offensive players in the league.
26:56The team's been back in 2023.
26:59There you go.
27:01Moby Brown, count the basket, and a foul.
27:03That's the way he's got to play.
27:04He's got that big body.
27:09He got it down here.
27:11He goes back.
27:13Pentecchio's not a pretty physical player.
27:15You see, Lill comes over late.
27:18Lill comes over late.
27:19But he can't get to it.
27:20But with that big body, you've got to use it.
27:23Pascal Siakam is back on the floor.
27:25He had two early fouls.
27:26Had just a point in the first quarter.
27:28Yeah, but he probably is not going to play effectively that five spot
27:31because Topps is in.
27:32And that may go.
27:35Topping did not play in the opening quarter.
27:38So he's out there for the first time.
27:40Dr. Chonis picks up his dribble, voted by McConaughey.
27:45Kocke has halfway through the shot clock.
27:49Love the defense.
27:50I love the defense.
27:53Larson out to the rim and laid it in.
27:57Larson.
27:59Eric Spongebob loves Larson.
28:02He loves it.
28:02He loves it because he has a great understanding of how hard he plays.
28:09And he's one of those guys.
28:11He's a second-round draft pick.
28:12As Kobe Brown hits a three.
28:14Now he's playing aggressively now.
28:16That's what the staff told him.
28:18He's got to be aggressive.
28:20Tied at 40.
28:23Jokic spins on Brown in the paint and left that short.
28:27Rebound tipped out by Topping to Brown.
28:31Topping matched his season high with 20 on Friday night off the bench against the Clippers.
28:40Siakam against the smallest Yaka Chonis in Boston.
28:52He's got to go right to the basket, throw it out.
28:57Takeo.
28:58Look at that.
28:59Yep.
28:59That's a job.
29:00I can't say.
29:01Paces can't allow that to happen.
29:03Anywhere you surely don't want to have that happen at home.
29:08Larson is fouled.
29:09If you want your fans to cheer, the thing they've got to be cheering about, is just a great effort.
29:22Larson played his college basketball in Arizona there in the final four and Yaka Chonis played at Illinois there in
29:30the final four as Larson misses. Now a message from Indiana Folk-Urwin-Shirts.
29:37Good barbers don't pass you from person to person.
29:40Sorry I got to run. I'm going to pass Yaka Chonis.
29:44Can I cut your hair?
29:45You need to do good insurance agents.
29:50Unfortunately, you look at it you got two Big Ten teams in and Ford that Purdue is not one of
29:54those.
29:56But when you look at Arizona and Michigan, you've got some pretty good but you talked about the two teams
30:02from the Big Ten.
30:03Michigan and Illinois. Those are really good teams.
30:06See O'Connor got a four in three, Chris.
30:08Yeah, great to see him get that because it's been a struggle for him.
30:11He's been on the struggle bus from the three.
30:14Great to see him.
30:16Over the course of about the last six games, Siakou is averaging 26 but shooting just 25% from three.
30:22He really was. He couldn't quite find it.
30:25He gets a quick pass, direct pass if you will, across the court.
30:29T.J. is able to step right into it and knock it down.
30:33That's got to feel good.
30:35Again, last night was, well Friday night was his worst shooting performance of the year, four of 16.
30:42Previously, it was four of 15 against this Miami team here at Cambridge Fieldhouse.
30:47That was the game the Pacers won.
30:51Dr. Chilnis hits the first free throw.
30:54I don't know. That's not the mark at all.
30:574-15, Pacers won.
30:594-16.
31:03It showed you that night against Miami, his teammates picked him up.
31:07And they really picked him up, I thought, the other night.
31:09That was a heck of a game.
31:10And you and I both said, I'm not sure we'll ever see anything like that in the final 24 seconds.
31:15No, points, yeah, points, four seconds.
31:17That's really the critical part of it, not four seconds.
31:21It was a sight to behold.
31:24Ethan Thompson back in.
31:25He misses the three.
31:26Ware has the Miami rebound.
31:31And no Aaron D. Smith, no Cheris Walker.
31:34Walker missing just his second game of the year.
31:39Akech, you're saying it, he's physical.
31:43You saw him banging.
31:44Have you seen anybody banging like that?
31:46I mean, he's just, with the ball, he just beats you up.
31:50The top end catches and hits.
31:54Talked about him early.
31:56Starting to find that groove from three.
31:58Last eight games, 43% from three-point range.
32:04Ware stepped through, no good.
32:07And they're going to call a loose ball foul.
32:09It's on Miami.
32:10It's a fun pickle.
32:14So, really, Fantechio picks up number one.
32:19Eric Spolster in his 18th year.
32:23826 wins.
32:25TWSA's head coach.
32:27Terrific coach.
32:28A heck of a guy.
32:28Terrific coach.
32:34Back-to-back titles in 2012-2013.
32:37Heat also won back in 2006.
32:40And, again, those remarkable playoff series in 12, 13, and 14.
32:46The Heat and the Pacers.
32:52Brown, Quinton Jackson.
32:54They'll be topping Thompson.
32:56Siakam.
32:59Siakam spins.
33:01Graysman is able to get himself below the foul line.
33:04And then went into the spin.
33:06But once he's able to do that, his length allows him to get the ball off the back.
33:19He's able to create some space physically.
33:23Look at that.
33:24I mean, Kobe Brown is a good-sized man.
33:28I mean, he's got the weight 245 easily at about 6, 7, 6, 8.
33:33I mean, Jaquez had 20 points Friday night.
33:37A great spot in that loss.
33:39When 19 times, Jaquez has scored 20 points off the bench.
33:42He's going to do that.
33:43Because he finds a way.
33:46He engages fully in the game.
33:47Some people don't have the middle attributes, the physical attributes.
33:51He's got them both.
33:53Great toughness is one of them.
33:54Oh, give me something.
33:57Give me something there.
33:58I'm a kill.
34:00When Jackson with his second field goal.
34:05Up and under, out of bio.
34:07Speaking of what you're talking about, hot guests, what does it take to be a good bench player?
34:11Well, it takes a mentality.
34:13First of all, I think you need to be really good defensively.
34:16Because you're going to make mistakes.
34:17And if you're going to be in the game, you've got to handle the reason for the coach to keep
34:22you in the game.
34:23It's normally because you've been solid defensively.
34:26Q does a really good job.
34:28He does dig almost exactly what you would see in moments ago.
34:31We see I'm able to get a nice little pirouette, get it off the glass.
34:38Huck is.
34:40I thought he was going right into it.
34:43He lost the place the same way.
34:45They play as physical offenses.
34:48Play with anybody.
34:50Tied at 50.
34:51Six lead changes.
34:53Six ties on a Sunday afternoon in Indy.
34:5730% from the field.
34:59Game is tied at 50.
35:01There you see C.J. Miles played 16 seasons in the NBA.
35:04Three of those with the Pacers.
35:06A fan favorite due to his shooting skills, his personality, his great interviews.
35:10But you see him with camera in hand today.
35:13He's been here this entire homestand taking photos.
35:16And today he is a member of the Pacers digital marketing team.
35:19I just talked with him.
35:20These are some of the photos that he took from this homestand.
35:24He is sending his card back to the digital marketing team.
35:27So anything you see at Pacers post, very likely it's C.J. Miles today that shot it.
35:33Those are some of the photos from the win or the game, I should say, against the Clippers.
35:36Love that shot of Andrew Nembhard and Benedict Mather.
35:39And that's his camera.
35:40Again, this is one of his passions since he retired from basketball.
35:44And he's also talking to a microphone.
35:47We know he does that very well.
35:49Doing some broadcasting with the Utah Jazz.
35:51Later this week he'll be part of a Utah Jazz three-man booth broadcasting a game.
35:55So you might want to check that out.
35:57The multi-talented C.J. Miles and Chris Quinn.
36:00It was always great to talk with C.J. after practice.
36:03One of the best interviews of my time with the Pacers.
36:06And we talked with him last week for a Sideline Guys podcast.
36:09One of the best.
36:10You're right, J.J.
36:11You can always count on C.J.
36:13Here is Toppin on the baseline.
36:15The basket and a foul.
36:19Oh, we got a little shadow going on, too.
36:22I mean, I watched, when you look at it, O.B. came back and he was into a conversation.
36:28He does a nice job watching him.
36:29Take it hard.
36:31There's no doubt about the foul, able to get that to go down.
36:34But I thought he did a really good job just getting himself faced up to the basket.
36:38He got the rookie, Myron Gardner, out of Lutrock to commit the foul.
36:43And Toppin has a chance for a three-point play.
36:45You're right, J.J.
36:46I had a chance to visit with C.J. today before the game.
36:49He's in San Antonio.
36:51He said, Quinn, this enables him to stay close to the game.
36:55And I think any of us in broadcasting, whether they're digital, whatever, you want to be close to the game.
37:00I had the same conversation with him two days before last game.
37:04And it was, because I'm always interested in the guys figuring out, when they figure it out, how they figure
37:10it out, what the next step is.
37:12And inevitably what happens is a guy gets out of this, and what they miss is this energy.
37:18I mean, more than anything, the camaraderie and the energy, and that's what C.J. started to miss.
37:23And a great cut.
37:23Oh, we're talking about Gardner getting the block here.
37:27But that's what he wanted to feel, get back with.
37:29What he does is he goes to the teams that he played for, and he shoots.
37:34You know, and when I say shoots, well, exactly the game, shoots from a photography standpoint.
37:41And I think it's terrific.
37:42I think Ken Griffith Jr. do that.
37:44Yes.
37:45Do the same thing.
37:45I mean, you see other athletes engage in a different occupation to stay close to the game.
37:52Yeah, C.J. Miles, as J.J. mentioned, three seasons with the Pacers, a great left-handed jump shot from
38:00three-point range.
38:01Yeah, it's so good to see him here, courtside at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
38:10It's a one-point Pacers lead, 53-52.
38:13Some conversation as we get set.
38:16Eric Lewis will inbound the ball.
38:19One of our officials, Aaron Smith, and Tyler Ford is our crew chief.
38:23Well, he gave the Pacers a chance to get their personnel set up.
38:26But I'm still not sure they got it set right because you look forwarded lucky because you normally don't throw
38:32the ball headed toward the other team's basket.
38:35See, I'll come for three, and he's got two of them.
38:38You see how high he shot that?
38:39Yes.
38:40But he was trying to do.
38:41Oh, that's Pacers' ball.
38:42That's Obie did a nice job.
38:43He shot that ball high because he's just trying to get his legs into it.
38:47It's a little more elevation, but good defensive pressure here that he shoots that really high.
38:55And that's a guy that knows that he needs a little oof to get it in the rim and then
39:00got some help from his teammate, Obie Toppin.
39:03Sort of had the arc of a Tyrese Halliburton three-point shot, didn't it?
39:06How high?
39:07No, he shot it extraordinarily high.
39:08When your legs are tired, you tend to do that because it's the one place you're feeling it.
39:13He's feeling it.
39:15You know, you see one go in, you now know you can get it done.
39:19He has been in a shooting slump from three-point range, breaking out of it today.
39:25Pacers lead by seven.
39:29Fixed lead changes.
39:30Pacers now enjoy their largest lead of the first half, 59-52.
39:34We're halfway through.
39:36Indiana Quinn has made 11 three-point field goals here in the first half, and Pascal Siakam is a part
39:42of that.
39:42Well, it helps that he gets his game going because, you know, when he gets it, you know the other
39:46guys that are trying to find him, but he's shooting it from the three-ball.
39:50That three-ball makes all the difference in the world.
39:53It makes up, obviously, because you get an additional point.
39:55But I think what you're looking at, Chris, and this is the part that's just kind of funny for all
39:59of us.
40:00It's 59 points with six minutes to go.
40:03Take a look, and Siakam has only missed, if you will, one field goal.
40:06All right, Chipotle real difference-makers.
40:08Siakam has three first-half threes, Micah Potter with four, McConnell has two.
40:16The Pacers' offense has been really good the last seven games.
40:21It's been the defense that's been the challenge.
40:23The three-point shooting, the field goal shooting, and that was deep.
40:29Deep, and I thought probably got out there.
40:31He got out there late, but I thought he got out there.
40:33But, look, Hero didn't play very well, I didn't think, in Cleveland.
40:37And when guys don't play very well, they got to come with it.
40:40Because they're, like I said, they're still in the hunt.
40:41Yeah, he was 4-13 from the field.
40:44Siakam got bottled up by Adebayo, running the break.
40:47Hero stepped through the left hand.
40:49Get a little hero to get the move.
40:52A 21-point first half, as Siakam quickly back the other way.
40:56That's because the ball got advanced by Andrew Nembhardt, and Siakam was able to control it.
41:02Pacers by four, 61-57.
41:05That's good.
41:06That's good.
41:08Chased down by Jackson.
41:10Top it for a three.
41:13Good block out there by Larson.
41:15The problem is, if they didn't agree with you, it was good, but it was Siakam.
41:19Who now has to get back to the other end.
41:21Hands, got his hands on the ball to get his stoner.
41:24He leads the break.
41:25Great down.
41:29Terrific pass by Siakam.
41:34Pacers from a fast break standpoint.
41:36He's been good.
41:38Good guy.
41:39That'll be at least eight points.
41:42Well, once you're late, here's Marson stepped through to the left hand.
41:47You're right.
41:47He has been very impressive.
41:49He averaged nine points as a rookie last year.
41:53He can do a lot of things.
41:55He's big.
41:56When they play big, he can be on the floor.
41:59I mean, he's been small.
42:02Well, you can tell.
42:03It's like that.
42:04He got the two fouls quit.
42:05He almost needed that to get his legs back.
42:08Yeah, you can just see his rhythm is much better.
42:10I got a full shot.
42:16Underneath, it's on Obi Toppin.
42:18Free throws now for Adebayo.
42:20Obi's run out of game for the first half.
42:27Adebayo, who had the 83 points, he made 36 free throws that night against Washington.
42:34Nobody would have thought that it would have been Adebayo to have the second most points scored
42:40in a game in the history of the NBA.
42:42Nobody.
42:44Now a message from Hope Plumbing.
42:47You may not think much about a fogging a drain.
42:49Us, sort of an art and a mastery.
42:51We take on that fog with zest to make sure your pipes are flowing and your home is as safe
42:55as possible.
42:56We're basically superheroes.
42:58Yeah, let's throw out current names.
43:00SGA, Donchich, Booker.
43:02Now, Booker's had 70-plus.
43:04I mean, those are the guys.
43:05Here's Potter inside, and he draws the foul.
43:08I agree with you.
43:09Those are the guys you would think of.
43:11But not...
43:12Not a body on Bears?
43:13No.
43:14And someone is a discredit because, and I don't discredit against anybody, because it
43:19was against the Wizards who were in the rebuild process here.
43:24At least, I would say a couple of years.
43:27But it doesn't matter.
43:28You're still playing against pros.
43:29You get 83 points.
43:31I'm telling you, you really had a heck of a night.
43:34One of the great nights in the NBA.
43:36Micah Potter, 14 first quarter points.
43:40You got the most in his career?
43:41I believe so.
43:43I haven't checked that yet, but that's on my agenda here.
43:47I got to believe it is.
43:48Yeah.
43:48I mean, you're talking about a guy that has averaged four points, three points, three points in
43:53his career before this year.
43:55I guess my guess was kind of easy.
43:57I think your guess would be very accurate.
44:01And he's got 16 in the first half.
44:03Season and career high.
44:05He had 23 earlier this season.
44:08And the Pacers lead by seven for a second time.
44:12Maybe on Mitchell.
44:13Wiggins are back in.
44:19Wiggins missed a rebound by Clinton Jackson.
44:23And that was read well by Mitchell.
44:26He rode the step through, fouled by Jackson.
44:29He'll make him move it at the line.
44:33You can see Davion Mitchell was like a quarterback in football, right?
44:37Yeah, you and I have a really good perspective on it.
44:40You can see it basically as Clinton was loading the ball to pass it with energy, Mitchell had
44:47already started.
44:49Tyler, he rode with 21 points.
44:52Looks like a free safety.
44:53Yeah.
44:5618-20 play games this year.
44:58He's only played 27, missed the first part of the season with an injury.
45:04As Ben Shepard is back in.
45:06Coming up, our Chevrolet halftime report with JJ and Eddie.
45:09As we round out a three-game homestand for the Pacers, just three home games remain.
45:14And that will come in the final week of the season.
45:17The Pacers on the road all next week.
45:21Wednesday in Chicago, Friday in Charlotte, Sunday in Cleveland.
45:31To the back, let him go to work.
45:33Because he's feeling good about what he's doing.
45:36Yeah.
45:37Give him something.
45:37Yeah, you can see he's feeling good about what he's been able to do.
45:42He's got an 18-point half.
45:44Yeah, you know, you start feeling that good.
45:46It's not, for a while, though he's at quote-unquote his job, it was work.
45:51It's not work anymore.
45:53It's just coming in the flow.
45:55And he's able to get what he wants, where he wants.
45:58And if you make him deviate a little bit, he can make the adjustment on the fly.
46:06So I can with an 18-point half.
46:09And that rebound by Larson on the miss.
46:14Three minutes to play first half.
46:16Open in the corner was Hero.
46:18Rips it out.
46:19Now to Riggins at short.
46:21And rebounded by Shepard.
46:28Brown takes it inside.
46:29Oh, what a great play.
46:31What a great play by Brown.
46:32To get him to the paint.
46:35And then kick it off to Potter, who's hot.
46:38Second time this year, Micah Potter's made five in a game.
46:42But he's done it today in the first half.
46:50The Pacers just briefly had a 10-point lead.
46:53It's an 8-point lead.
46:54They've scored 72 points.
46:59Cut, nice cut by Shep.
47:02You see the double team that got, they tried to get on Siakam.
47:06And, and Shep ran it good.
47:08And his instincts are really, really good, I think.
47:13Here come the Pacers.
47:15Two minutes to play.
47:16I've got to find Siakam.
47:20And Siakam, no foul.
47:22They're looking to play.
47:24And Larson was on the floor.
47:28And then Wiggins back the other way.
47:31And Larson's running for Siakam was on the floor on the other hand.
47:34And they never called it either way.
47:36And Carlisle's going to take a timeout.
47:39One pause for 30 seconds as well.
47:411.51 to play in the quarter.
47:43And the Pacers lead it 74-66.
47:49Is shooting 72% in the first half.
47:53That is a season high.
47:5463% from three-point range.
47:5712 of 19.
47:58And they have an eight-point lead.
48:0074-66.
48:01And we have 1.51 to play in the quarter.
48:05Our timeout is presented by Centere Bank.
48:08That's the third timeout that Rick Carlisle has used.
48:13That's going to be a really good job right there.
48:15See the cut from the back side.
48:17Just cutting it and getting the teammates an option of a place to find one of the balls to go.
48:23But Shep does that.
48:24I mean, that's one of the reasons I think, frankly, he's on the team.
48:26Because he really moves the offense and take a look.
48:29And it has really been powerful the last seven games.
48:32Yeah, and in all those games, the Pacers, they shot just below 50% against the Clippers.
48:37But in the last seven, all seven, 49% are better from the field.
48:42And all 40% were better from three.
48:45And you can see the points.
48:46When 127 should be enough, the problem has been, as you said earlier, on the defensive end.
48:52You're not a good team until your defense is good.
48:54And that's one of the things.
48:56I mean, as much as people look at Tyrese and what he does, which he does, don't get me wrong.
48:59You still have to defend at a high level.
49:01And I think everybody's, you know, trying to figure all of that out.
49:05Brown missed the three.
49:07Paquez is back in.
49:12Paquez drives on Potter, takes him to the basket, and banks it in.
49:15You say, how does he do that?
49:16I'm just telling him he is a really physical offensive player.
49:19And he's about 6'8".
49:22Paquez has 10 points off the bench.
49:24Here's Siakam.
49:25That was just a little bit short.
49:29Miami has it back.
49:31It's a six-point game.
49:32And there's Paquez, rolls it in.
49:35Yeah, he was able to get it to him because he got it up the court quickly on the right
49:38side.
49:40Paquez just cut through the paint.
49:41Both teams in the 70s in the first half.
49:46And Brown adds to the total.
49:49He becomes another double-figure bench scorer.
49:53He has 10.
49:57Out of Bayou.
50:00But what you notice, what you notice in the Pacers have to do a better job is keeping people in
50:08front of it.
50:08Because if you don't, what they do at Miami is just break it down and then try to find a
50:13way to get an easy bucket.
50:15Are they going a little bit zone?
50:17Oh, no.
50:18I thought they were going to go zone.
50:20There they have.
50:21They're going to go zone because I can see out of Ayos in the back and he really doesn't have
50:25anybody.
50:27It's like a 1-3-1 and it's a matchup.
50:31Depart gets into the middle and looks.
50:34It's a good deflection there by Davion Mitchell.
50:37Shot clock 3.6.
50:41Pacers have scored 70-plus in a first half for a fourth time this year.
50:48Season-high 80.
50:50They scored 80 against the Hawks here.
50:52That's what I was going to say, partner.
50:53They're looking like not quite get to that 80 spot.
50:59Pacers have scored 42 in the second quarter.
51:05So another 40-point quarter.
51:06Remember, they had 42 in the first quarter Friday night.
51:113.6.
51:13Thompson fires.
51:14Hits a three.
51:15We should have had a four.
51:17Fishing couldn't quite see it.
51:19But good to see each team knock one down.
51:21A season-high 13 three-point field goals in the first half.
51:27Indiana will have the lead at the break with 79 first-half points.
51:32But a four-second difference game in shot clock.
51:35Mitchell against Thompson.
51:37Hero cuts to the corner.
51:40A three is good by Jaquez.
51:44See, they're very accustomed to breaking you down that way.
51:46Here's Thompson.
51:48And he wanted the foul.
51:49No doing, but the Pacers will have the lead when 154 points between the two teams, 79-75 Pacers.
51:59You might not have thought that for these teams, particularly the last year.
52:03Maybe a little bit more this year because of the way Miami plays.
52:05Because both of the teams have been really solid defensively.
52:08Miami in particular, but the game is much more wide open now.
52:12Both sides taking advantage.
52:1445 second-quarter points and a big first half for Micah Potter with J.J.
52:1919 of the Pacers, 79 in the first half, courtesy of Micah Potter.
52:23How would you describe the team's offensive execution?
52:26It's been great.
52:27You know, we find our spots, driving to the rim, finding the open teammates on the perimeter.
52:33I've been able to hit a couple, but we've got to lock in defensively.
52:3575 is way too much in the first half.
52:37I'm going to say, to get a win, you'll need more stops.
52:39Where are some adjustments maybe you can make there?
52:40It's just our defensive execution.
52:42Making sure we're not losing sight of our man.
52:43We've had a couple cutters the last couple possessions.
52:46Got to lock in, protect the paint, and then close out to the shooters.
52:48Thank you, Micah.
52:49Yep.
52:50Well said.
52:51Micah Potter, 19 off the bench.
52:5410 for Brown, 11 for McConnell.
